Since installing Windows XP SP2, I am not able to install the MSN groups photo uploader to post pics on my site. I have tried disabling anything that
could be preventing this: firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware, and also tried adjusting security settings...I get the message "installation failed", and a
tiny security shield appears for about 3 seconds next my pointer.
I am building a multiuser system using Roaming Profiles. I would like to customize the "Start > All Programs" menu to the user's user group. For example I would like to have Program Group that contains basic programs that every user would use. Then have Programmers group that contains Basic applications + programming applications. Ideally the Program Groups should be assigned based on the user's group.A user can belong to multiple groups.
I really like the Luna interface, and how well-organized the Start Menu and the Explorer are. Like Groups -- how when you open My Computer it's got "Files Stored on This Computer," "Hard Disk Drives," and "Devices with Removable Storage." I've found out how to create groups and organize them based on name, file type, date last accessed, and so on.
But what I really want to do is create custom groups, with their own names, and drag-and-drop files and folders into them. Like when I open My Documents, and all of my document folders are mixed in with My Music and such. I want to create a custom group and put My Music, My Pictures, and My Videos in it, and then have all my other folders in a second group. How do I do that?
Question/Problem: How can I remove the "upload using WS_FTP upload wizard" shortcut from my "right click" context menu?Answer/Solution: You can remove the option for the Upload Wizard from the right click menu by running this command (which you can Copy and Paste from here) in Start | Run:regsvr32 /u C:progra~1ws_ftp~1wsftpsi.dll(If you have installed WS_FTP Pro to a drive other than c: you should edit the command accordingly.)

When I downloaded the updated drivers for my hp scanner software, an icon appeared on my desktop and if I right click it to delete it my computer freezes. If I drag it to the recycle bin or any other folder it just duplicates it and it is still on the desktop. I can't find anywhere else where I could delete it from the registry for example or add/delete programs list. I can't rename it , to try to delete it, because of the freezing issue. I will never use it so It bothers me that its there.
I have a file server that is not set to active directory, so I am trying to simplify the sharing of drive space. I am testing that I can or cannot get into certain groups. When I access from another Windows client and I get into my own file and then go out to try and get into another persons folder, I am auto directed to mine. I have to logg off each time to check each persons user folders and log in as them.
I'm looking for Photo Editor in Windows XP. The reason why is because it worked well when I wanted to run my scanner as a twain device in 98. I can't find Photo.ED now.Does anyone know how to install Photo-ed in XP? IF not, what application works as a twain with a scanner?

Computer is all of a sudden very slow. When I did a computer check for information regarding software, I found that many strange software files run automatically at startup. When I checked "msconfig", I only found 24 programs starting at startup which were normal. How do I eliminate these strange files. I don't know which one of these are necessary and I don't know how to eliminate them. They appear as "unknown". One example of a startup file is "zipfldr". There are pages of other ones.
I had a trojan downloader I appear to be all clean now, but I've noticed a weird change that might be from the clean up, not sure. In MY COMPUTER, the icons used to be organized under certain subheadings like "Files Stored on this Computer," "Hard Disk Drives," and "Devices with Removeable Storage" etc. These headings are gone. When I go to Arrange Icons and click the Show Groups option, I do not see a return of my lost headings. Instead, my control panel, and each of my drives is shown in a separate category that has a random letter assigned as its topic heading. How do I change this? How do I restore the original headings, and what could possibly have happened to remove them in the first place
I am running win xp the computer is connected to a network but not a server all logons are made to a local computer there are two admins on the computer me and my dad. He insists on having admin rights but with admin rights he can reset my password without knowing it even though we are apart of the same group so when I go away he removes my password and goes through my files and stuff. Can I make separate groups or something to stop him being able to remove my password.
I have windows XP with the latest update.I have created shortcuts for some photos. What shows on the desktop are symbols. I want thumbnails of my photos instead. Right clicking on the symbol and then on "properties" does not give me the option to change anything except which program will open the file. Is there a way to change these symbols to thumbnails? How do I do it?
Running Windows XP on a HP Pavillion zv6000. The past several months it has started trying to install PhotoGallery and nothing I am trying will make it quit. I've tried registry fix, I've gone to Microsoft and gotten their fix for it and that won't work.
I tried to print off a picture in Microsoft Photo Editor and was unable to.The following error screens came up: "printer error" and " insufficient memory". My printer is set as the default printer. I tried to print other pictures and got the same response.I need to correct this problem so I can print pictures if needed.

How do you edit user groups? I want to disable the ability to install (any) programs for all users except the one admin account. This is what I have so far: going through control_panel>user_accounts> and switching the account to a limited doesn't work (some progs can still be installed).Going into computer Management gives me the ability to look at the groups and move user names from one group to another, but I can't edit/modify what each group is allowed to do. Right clicking on group and selecting properties gives me this.Going into Group_Policy allows me to edit what users can do, but it applies the changes to every user (including the admin).
How does one read the whole names of the news groups when wanting to subscribe? How does one set it up so that after reading a post and closing, the post does not show up on the next visit to the group? How does one go back to look at old posts?
Using Adobe Photo deluxe with windows xp and now it won't load due to the above message. it also states C:|WINDOWSSYSTEM32AUTOEXEC.NT The system file is not suitable for running MS-Dos and Microsoft windows applications. Choose close to terminate the application. Has anyone experienced this and how can it be easily corrected as I am only an intermediate computer user?

Unspecified error.'My computer runs Windows XP Pro, Service Pack 3 and I am the Administrator of this computer.
Recently my son sent home 3 CDs with photos from his travels in South America.2 work fine, the third one cannot be read on my PC, however I can see the photos on my DVD (not computer) player. DVD lists 110 jpg files, 2 photos seem damaged and the slideshow gets stuck on them, but I can restart the slideshow from good photos. he sent many disks up to now, I burn CDs for photo storage on regular basis, this is the first time I experienced this kind of problem .
When I try to right click on the disk to open it in Explorer my PC shows empty disk. I tried to open the disk from different applications like ACDSee 5, copy the disk using Roxio Easy CD creator to no avail
When I turn on my computer, it automatically tries to install some photo program. There are also other problems such as the computer restarting itself with no warning, and it sometimes reverts to a "blue screen of death" where my only choice is to turn off my computer manually. I'm wondering if something could have gotten past my anti-virus software.
