Outlook Express News Groups: Go Back To Look At Old Posts?
Aug 5, 2005
How does one read the whole names of the news groups when wanting to subscribe? How does one set it up so that after reading a post and closing, the post does not show up on the next visit to the group? How does one go back to look at old posts?

A thread here,I was trying to use the news reader part of outlook express and it could read all of the post correctly. The only problem is when I click on New Post or Reply Post, I could see the frame of text editor opened up with no button on it and then tells me that Outlook Express has encountered an error and needs to close, blah blah blah.
I looked through the error reporting file and was told that ntdll.dll was the troublemaker, here is the error reporting file that Outlook Express asked me to send to Microsoft:

It has happened every time without failure, and even after I have re-installed the entire Windows XP system, the problem would come up again.
I am using an IBM Thinkpad T42 with Pentium M 1.6GHz processor and 1.2GB of RAM, I have the automatic update enabled to install all the software patches from Microsoft and so on.

Is there any way to get back things that were in outlook express? I tried to forward them to my webmail acct and they didn't go for some reason. They were all in my returned mail folder. When I tried to forward that back to web mail it just deleted everything out of my outlook express program and it is in neither place now. I tried doing a system restore just to see if that would work and of course it didn't.

I recently manually moved my email files to a different folder. When I opened Outlook Express all of my emails were GONE. I then moved them back and it did not bring them back. The files are in my documents, I have tried to import them back into Outlook Express and it does not work, it only goes back to 2 months ago. I need to know how to recover my emails back into Outlook Express.

I am building a multiuser system using Roaming Profiles. I would like to customize the "Start > All Programs" menu to the user's user group. For example I would like to have Program Group that contains basic programs that every user would use. Then have Programmers group that contains Basic applications + programming applications. Ideally the Program Groups should be assigned based on the user's group.A user can belong to multiple groups.

I really like the Luna interface, and how well-organized the Start Menu and the Explorer are. Like Groups -- how when you open My Computer it's got "Files Stored on This Computer," "Hard Disk Drives," and "Devices with Removable Storage." I've found out how to create groups and organize them based on name, file type, date last accessed, and so on.
But what I really want to do is create custom groups, with their own names, and drag-and-drop files and folders into them. Like when I open My Documents, and all of my document folders are mixed in with My Music and such. I want to create a custom group and put My Music, My Pictures, and My Videos in it, and then have all my other folders in a second group. How do I do that?

I have an AT&T mail account and they recently paired with Yahoo on their homepage. My Outlook Express in Windows XP worked with my account fine for years until yesterday. I had to change the names of the servers to: pop.att.yahoo.com and smtp.att.yahoo.com. The port settings are the same 465 and 995. Also, my password is the same. The problem is when I try to receive or send mail, Outlook Express repeatedly asks me to enter my username and password for the servers. The password box is checked on the logon box that comes up repeatedly but not highlighted. What am I overlooking?

My wife's friend bought a new EMachine with windowsXP and I was setting up Outlook Express to download her web based email. At first I had the POP3 and SMTP settings wrong and when I fixed them I didn't realize I had both the web based email and Outlook Express open at the same time. Now, whenever she tries to open Outlook Express, all it does is hangs open with "not responding" in the title bar. I can't even access the file menu. Is there any way to fix it short of removing Outlook Express and reinstalling it?

How do you add a picture in the body of the e-mail, so as the recipient, when opening the said mail, will not have to click another link ? Particularly sending photos from my picture files ? My OS, is Windows XP Professional.

Using OE6 to check my hot mail, Pop3, I map email accounts and News messages. I am looking for a better software than Outlook Express with more functions. I am ready to pay few dollars for the software.
