I have windows XP with the latest update.I have created shortcuts for some photos. What shows on the desktop are symbols. I want thumbnails of my photos instead. Right clicking on the symbol and then on "properties" does not give me the option to change anything except which program will open the file. Is there a way to change these symbols to thumbnails? How do I do it?
Running Windows XP on a HP Pavillion zv6000. The past several months it has started trying to install PhotoGallery and nothing I am trying will make it quit. I've tried registry fix, I've gone to Microsoft and gotten their fix for it and that won't work.

Using Adobe Photo deluxe with windows xp and now it won't load due to the above message. it also states C:|WINDOWSSYSTEM32AUTOEXEC.NT The system file is not suitable for running MS-Dos and Microsoft windows applications. Choose close to terminate the application. Has anyone experienced this and how can it be easily corrected as I am only an intermediate computer user?
Since installing Windows XP SP2, I am not able to install the MSN groups photo uploader to post pics on my site. I have tried disabling anything that could be preventing this: firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware, and also tried adjusting security settings...I get the message "installation failed", and a tiny security shield appears for about 3 seconds next my pointer.
Recently my son sent home 3 CDs with photos from his travels in South America.2 work fine, the third one cannot be read on my PC, however I can see the photos on my DVD (not computer) player. DVD lists 110 jpg files, 2 photos seem damaged and the slideshow gets stuck on them, but I can restart the slideshow from good photos. he sent many disks up to now, I burn CDs for photo storage on regular basis, this is the first time I experienced this kind of problem .
When I try to right click on the disk to open it in Explorer my PC shows empty disk. I tried to open the disk from different applications like ACDSee 5, copy the disk using Roxio Easy CD creator to no avail
When I turn on my computer, it automatically tries to install some photo program. There are also other problems such as the computer restarting itself with no warning, and it sometimes reverts to a "blue screen of death" where my only choice is to turn off my computer manually. I'm wondering if something could have gotten past my anti-virus software.

I have tried several data recovery programs to try and retrieve some important photo's. Some I've had more the success than others. It was clear that the ones which you pay for is better than the free versions [find more files] On the ones that let you see a list of what it's found but does not let you retrieve the photo's unless you pay for the full programme On a couple of programs they showed the 'missing' files and file names and I'm wanting to buy.
I used to send photos directly from "My Photos" folder using Outlook Express, and after I selected the photos, I was asked if I wanted to resize them, and then after I e-mailed them, the photos always appeared in the e-mail once it was opened (not as an attachment). Now I use Outlook, and when I try to send the photos from "My Photos" folder, they are sent as attachments, and they are not viewable in the actual e-mail. I have searched for a setting to change this, but I can't find any. Does anyone know how I can send multiple photos in an e-mail using Outlook, so that they can be viewed as soom as the e-mail is opened, rather than having to download and open each individual photo as an attachment?
I am running Windows XP Home and am having a problem making a specific photo editor (Arcsoft's PhotoStudio 5.5) the default program for opening image files stored in the 'My Pictures' folder in My Computer. When I first attempted to achieve it, I right-clicked on an image in 'My Pictures' and selected "Open With". I then Browsed to C:/ProgramFiles/Arcsoft/PhotoStudio 5.5/PhotoStudio.exe and clicked on Open. the PhotoStudio name appeared in the Folder options, but not the PhotoStudio icon. Instead I got the DOS icon. When I then clicked on OK, I was told that the image is not a valid WIN32 application. So, obviously Windows XP is not recognising the program.

I bought a used computer and monitor for my niece. They work fine, running xp. BUT the icons and fonts on the desktop are incredibly fuzzy. The photo used as the background is clear and crisp. It is only the icons and icon text that are fuzzy. I tried going to properties>appearnce>advanced, but the font is tahoma and 8. Went to properties>appearance>effects and fade effect is checked, also shadows, dragging contect, hide underlined letters. The edge smoothing was unchecked, so I tried standard>no change in fuzziness; tried clear type>no change in fuzziness. What am I missing?
I've tried Mozilla, without much success - my query is how to quickly reduce the size of a batch of large photo files to one more acceptable for email using Thunderbird? I'm using Win XP Pro.I currently have to use Photoshop and use an Automated Batch process I created - cumbersome, time consuming, but effective!

After the last photo I start seeing bits and pieces of web sites that I have visited. What is causing this and how can it be prevented? When I send an e-mail with a photo in it am I sending this junk?
Just recently, I've been getting lots of "So-and-so encountered a problem and needed to close". For "So-and-so", read "Windows Login UI" or "Namo Web Editor" or "Run a DLL as an App", etc.
I want to know what the best Registry Editor is for Windows XP Pro. I have this annoying site that is redirecting me to porn sites. I wanna know how to get rid of it. I am guessing using a good Registry Editor will do it?
In my Internet Explorer under the view I still see the option for the Roboform toolbar although it is grayed out. I have removed this program, and I thought I got all of the remnants. Should I keep looking for files to delete somewhere, or would I need a registry editor to remove this reference?
While trying to install McAfee Virus Scan that I downloaded from their site, a pop up screen asked, "Debug using the current Script editor?" The default was Microsoft Script Editor. When I clicked OK another window opened with the heading "Microsoft Virtual Studio Debugger". It provided the options to Break - Continue - Ignore. Selecting "continue" just brought up the same window again. The "ignore" button indicated that future problems could occur if you choose this option. So, I selected "Break" which opened up another window titled, "Misc Files - Microsoft Script Editor [BREAK].
I have a user that has printed several pictures.. and they always come up. Does anyone know how to clear the photo wizard and fax viewer cache? I have deleted contents of temp folder, turned off thumbnail cache and nothing works. Even deleted the thumbs.db
Trying to get the Photosmart C6280 drivers to install for the past few days. Whether it's installing from the CD or downloaded drivers, I still get the same message. Right before it starts to install the drivers, it says that some files need to be deleted and that I have to restart. So, I restart, and the installer comes back up, only to tell me to restart again. I got past this when I ran the installer in safe mode, but I was unable to start the Print Spooler to continue the setup.
