Several unwanted desktop icons appeared recently (I think they come via Search2000 when IE is used). They won't right-click for deletion, nor will they allow themselves to be drop-dragged to the recycle bin. They don't appear in the desktop icon list when using the desktop cleanup feature.

When I'm using the internet the content of that icon will just be automatically opened in different tab without clicking it and just pops multiple times after being closed. How can I remove these 2 icons. The name of the 2 icons are the same in Tagalog, it says 10 sampung utos ng manginginom and then when it opens up on the very top where the blue thing is, it says Destrukto & in the address or information bar it says C:\WINDOWSsystem32destrukto.html.

For example, some of my Word icons on the desktop now have a green checkmark; one has a red exclamation point. A PDF icon also has a green checkmark. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an HP printer. After I open and work with HP Gallery, it causes strange icons to appear on my desktop--as many as 30 or more, sometimes. Some of them are labeled with a numeral; 1, 2, 3 etc. Others are labeled "Directory Map". One is labeled "last-write". When I open this one, my Notepad page appears, with the date and time showing the time I opened the HP Gallery. Most labeled with a number allow me to Preview them, but "No Preview Is Available" appears when I click on Preview. Others labeled with a number and all labeled Directory Map, allow me to Open them. When I do, a page appears, filled with words and short phrases; many of them relate to "gallery" and "documents and settings". Does anyone know what causes this, and how I can prevent it? It is a nuisance to send them to the recycle bin each time I leave the HP gallery.
View 7 Replies View RelatedRecently my father-in-law installed a program on to my computer. It set up a desktop icon, that did not get removed when it was uninstalled. I can't even right click on it and hit delete because it's not there, nor can I just hit delete. How can it be removed manually. It is a "share-to-web upload folder" from a hp digital camera. I aslo don't have access to the cd to reinstall it and uninstall again. Also I can't get task manager to work, I hit Ctrl, Alt, Delete and nothing. I right click on the task bar and click on task manager and nothing. Iwas working a few days ago, don't know what happened, anyway to get it back? I already tried system restore but only goes back a few days.

Are there any software that will allow you to zoom on your XP desktop and navagete (move around while in xoom mode? I know Mac has this by holding a key and using schroll on your mouse. This is useful even while playing videos that dont have zoom feature in the player, or is there?

I just started having this problem. My computer boots up fine, but when I try to access any desktop icon, or any feature from the start button, I get the message, windows explorer has encountered a problem... then I get Dr Watson has encountered a problem, then the only thing I can do is reboot. The strange thing is, that I can access AOL by clicking on the icon in the taskbar, also Mcafee and others. The only things that work are the taskbar icons. I ran all the appropriate virus checks, spy checks, with no problem.

SITUATION:
Last Night I noticed when I was editing that some of my avi exports were all distorted and fragmented... So i figured "I havent EVER ran defrag (stupid me) on this hard drive maybe I should defrag it" So I looked into a defrag program called "diskeeper" I defragged C: (windows drive) and attempted to defrag D:.... I came to my comp and discovered an error that just said failure with the drive or something... After that I could not access (D I restarted, diskcheck did not work, and I dont want to do system restore... I posted on another websites forum and someone said I probably went over the 137GB limit... I think when I went over the 137GB limit, it possibly overflowed over some kind of boot files or something that lets windows read the disk i dont know (not that techincal with computers)So i looked into that, and I have an ATA card... and Windows NO service pack XP pro... Ive heard things about having a 48 bit bios or something... And after installing WINDOWS XP SP1... I try to get on my computer and i load windows
On my HP laptop, I can not move any of the desktop icons. They snap back to original position when released.
"Auto Arrange" is not checked. I have tried with "Align to Grid" both on and off. "Lock Web Items on Desktop" is not checked.
