Are there any software that will allow you to zoom on your XP desktop and navagete (move around while in xoom mode? I know Mac has this by holding a key and using schroll on your mouse. This is useful even while playing videos that dont have zoom feature in the player, or is there?
View 8 RepliesI've been using XP Pro for a few years now. However, on my last re-install I left off ACDSee and was just going to use XP's own settings for viewing photos. I'm now using SP2.I was certain that in the 'filmstrip' setting for photos there was a 'Zoom IN/OUT' option - am I wrong? I'm using TweakUI + TweakXP Pro 4, I've checked everywhere but I can't find anywhere that the zoom option has been unchecked? Is it there or can I enable it somehow?

They won't right-click for deletion, nor will they allow themselves to be drop-dragged to the recycle bin. They don't appear in the desktop icon list when using the desktop cleanup feature.

Everything that I have looked up on the web, deals with putting the 'Show the desktop' back on Quick Launch toolbar.I can do that - but the Show the Desktop shortcut & Windows + D no longer work.

My computer boots up fine, but when I try to access any desktop icon, or any feature from the start button, I get the message, windows explorer has encountered a problem... then I get Dr Watson has encountered a problem, then the only thing I can do is reboot. The strange thing is, that I can access AOL by clicking on the icon in the taskbar, also Mcafee and others. The only things that work are the taskbar icons. I ran all the appropriate virus checks, spy checks, with no problem.

When I go to reboot it, an "End Program - Zoom In" window pops up and I have to click on OK to end the program for the computer to shut down. It seems obvious to me that this "Zoom In" program is using all my resources but I don't know how to keep it from starting - and it doesn't always start.My computer is an Acer TravelMate 2300 with an Intel Celeron 1500 Mhz processor and 1.23 Ghz of RAM, Windows XP Home Edition SP2. I have AVG anti virus and run AVG Spyware, Ad-Aware, and SpyBot regularly.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was playing a game (sims2), and after closing it down everything on my desktop looks like it's all stretched or zoomed in on and the font is like the font from the game(?!) - now my only problem is I can't get it to go back to normal. It's not that the windows or font have been changed in the display properties. Even when I look at my photos they are all stretched out of wack too!Please help! Because this has happened on my hubbies work computer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedDell Latitude 810D probably about 4 years old running XP Pro SP3. The following has happened a few times in last 18 months but reboot has always solved problem - today it continues even after reboot. No new software has been added recently; anti-virus program runs in background all the time and full sys scan every night. Dell tech support says it is a software issue. I am not getting any error messages, just screen magnification that has not been asked for by user.
When opening Firefox or MSWord initially the web page (or word document) looks normal at a reasonable text point size, but within a few seconds it progressively zooms larger to over flow the screen. In Firefox it looks like 1,600% in Word it seems to go to 500%. In either application using the menu or keyboard shortcut to restore screen to a more readable text size only retains that for a few seconds before it zooms and over flows the screen. Usually clicking on the scroll bar to move vertically is erratic and even though you click to go down on the page the screen seems to jump downward but then back up on its own.
As I said, rebooting typical would solve things but not today. Using the computer of a friend as my laptop is impossible to work with. Typing text in browser search, or Word, or email program because of the magnification becomes nearly impossible to track. I have not tried other apps, but the magnification is consistent except that with Internet Explorer things automatically zoom out making things at about 12% size.
Not sure this is an operating system issue but was not sure which forum to post this in. I am currently running a full system scan (Kaspersky Internet Security 2010). Desktop looks normal (icons and text labels look the same size that they always do; Windows Explorer also looks normal. Thanks for any assistance.

1. When I'm opening any doc file (Word 2007) or PPT file, the file appears with the maximum zoom (400%), without the ability to change back the zoom to 100%.Also, I can't scroll the file up or down !

Once I'm replacing my HardDisk by another one, the phenomenon is disappear, which mean, we have to format the HD & re-install the XP.
Anybody know how to permanently set the Zoom function for every Explorer page you open to different than the set 100%.The reason is I have just purchased a new 20" widescreen and it seems the only method of obtaining larger screen inages using the recommended resolution.Everything is so small! Each page I open I have to keep manually altering the zoom function and when working on quite a few pages at a time its getting tedious!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI need the name of the .inf file that the hardware wizard needs to install this webcam. The Logitech QuickCam Zoom v.8.4.6 software installs but the hardware wizard says that a required inf file cannot be found. I spoke with Logitech support and they had me uninstall the software using Add/Remove, then delete Logitech folders, and edit the registry to remove all references to Vid_046, then perform a clean boot. Reinstalled the software, when it said to restart, I clicked no, then changed msconfig back to normal startup, then rebooted. Upon reboot, I get the Logitech splash screen saying to connect camera to pc. When I do, the hardware wizard starts but gives the error that the .inf file cannot be found and the Logitech screen says that no camera was connected. (Should I have rebooted, connected camera, then changed msconfig back to normal startup?) I ran services.msc and find that Human Interface Device Access is Disabled. Could this be keeping the system from finding the..inf file?

Even modified the directory as instructed to eliminate the search companion glich mentioned in the article. While the MS support provided the functionality I wanted, it does not help clear up all the problems it creates.
Now, when I launch Windows Explorer, in the left hand frame I have folders show, and in the right hand frame I have details shown. This is fine. When I double click a folder in the right hand frame, a new Windows Explorer launches, and the folders in the left hand frame are gone. I can click the folders icon at the top and turn them back on, but this did not use to happen. What I had and want back is for the folder to open in the same window, an leave the format of the Windows Explorer screen alone.
I have a 500MB CPU with 256 MB memory on a Etower machine. I am running xp home edition and I can not longer get the search feature to work. If I try and search for anything at all I always get the same thing > "Search is complete, no results to display" I get this no matter what I put in the search box or how I change the search criteria. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? Also I can no longer get Msconfig to open using the "Start/Run/open" Box. I can go to the Icon within explorer itself and open the program, so the program still works but, for some reason like I just said Msconfig will not open using the start/run/open box.

Once in Advance my NVIDIA card would be there and I would click on it and choose the clone option so that what was on my computer would be on my TV.But this week-end I tried it and it no longer showed my Video card or anything remotely close to the screen I had used before, instead it now shows the typical dual monitor configuration/setup ie. extend desktop across both monitors.I cannot figure how I lost my Video card screen where I could clone - am I just forgetting where I went and going to the wrong spot now?
