SP2 / Lost All Video (not Audio) In Both Real Player And Windows Media Player
Aug 30, 2005Downloaded SP2 for Windows XP Home and immediately lost all video (not audio) in both Real Player and Windows Media Player. Removed each of these and reloaded "fresh" version - same problem. Then removed SP2 and presto - video returns.

Nov 10, 2006In the past I have had no problem playing video files on my Windows Media player 10. Now, all of a sudden I cannot see the video but I can hear the sound. This is also the case with the two other players I use - Real and VLC. Having discovered the problem, I have downloaded some codecs from http://www.free-codecs.com/K_Lite_Co...k_download.htm in case the codecs are corrupt but it makes no difference.

Oct 20, 2008I am running windows XPSP3 with windows media player 11. For some reason I cannot play wmv or avi files. I get the audio but no video. This is true for any media player that I have tried. I have re installed both the media player and windows to no avail. I have checked the codecs and seem to have the most common ones (see below) I ran GSpot on one of the files and it said that I had the proper codec, yet it still won't play. I am sure it is a setting problem of some sort , but don't know where. Can you give me any help?

Transparent Image Over A Video In Media Player - OS
Jul 9, 2008i have an image (bmp, jpg) size 800X600 its RGB color is 16,0,16. If I play a video in windows media player and then open the image with windows picture viewer, the image becomes transparent and the video can be seen. this always happens for the first video. If I have many videos lined up to run in a sequence, on some computers the transparency remains through out the duration of all the video, while on some machines every alternate video can be seen. An idea why the same happens. I need the video to be seen always with the image over it as a small part of the image contains a logo in white color.

Aug 22, 2005WMP 10 will not play completely through an mpg file without hanging every few seconds.It seems like it is having a buffering problem but these short 3 minute mpgs have never caused a problem before. I tried downloading WMP10 again nothing changed.Is there a buffer setting that might have changed? I have 2G RAM and these files are little. I'm completely up to date on all MS updates.

Sep 18, 2007Having recently had someone else using my computer for a while, installing various software (like winamp and SubEdit player) it seems windows media player (that's what I use) no longer recognises the usual files as media files like .mp3 .wmv .m3u .avi etc etc so when I click open file and select "media files (all types)" in the file type box it shows nothing, so I have to change it to all files which is irritating. Media player still plays everything fine but this is pretty annoying.

When I go to reboot it, an "End Program - Zoom In" window pops up and I have to click on OK to end the program for the computer to shut down. Oct 1, 2010Dell Latitude 810D probably about 4 years old running XP Pro SP3. The following has happened a few times in last 18 months but reboot has always solved problem - today it continues even after reboot. No new software has been added recently; anti-virus program runs in background all the time and full sys scan every night. Dell tech support says it is a software issue. I am not getting any error messages, just screen magnification that has not been asked for by user.
When opening Firefox or MSWord initially the web page (or word document) looks normal at a reasonable text point size, but within a few seconds it progressively zooms larger to over flow the screen. In Firefox it looks like 1,600% in Word it seems to go to 500%. In either application using the menu or keyboard shortcut to restore screen to a more readable text size only retains that for a few seconds before it zooms and over flows the screen. Usually clicking on the scroll bar to move vertically is erratic and even though you click to go down on the page the screen seems to jump downward but then back up on its own.
As I said, rebooting typical would solve things but not today. Using the computer of a friend as my laptop is impossible to work with. Typing text in browser search, or Word, or email program because of the magnification becomes nearly impossible to track. I have not tried other apps, but the magnification is consistent except that with Internet Explorer things automatically zoom out making things at about 12% size.
Not sure this is an operating system issue but was not sure which forum to post this in. I am currently running a full system scan (Kaspersky Internet Security 2010). Desktop looks normal (icons and text labels look the same size that they always do; Windows Explorer also looks normal. Thanks for any assistance.

I'm now using SP2.I was certain that in the 'filmstrip' setting for photos there was a 'Zoom IN/OUT' option - am I wrong? I'm using TweakUI + TweakXP Pro 4, I've checked everywhere but I can't find anywhere that the zoom option has been unchecked? Is it there or can I enable it somehow?

Feb 16, 2009Anybody know how to permanently set the Zoom function for every Explorer page you open to different than the set 100%.The reason is I have just purchased a new 20" widescreen and it seems the only method of obtaining larger screen inages using the recommended resolution.Everything is so small! Jul 20, 2005I need the name of the .inf file that the hardware wizard needs to install this webcam. The Logitech QuickCam Zoom v.8.4.6 software installs but the hardware wizard says that a required inf file cannot be found. I spoke with Logitech support and they had me uninstall the software using Add/Remove, then delete Logitech folders, and edit the registry to remove all references to Vid_046, then perform a clean boot. Reinstalled the software, when it said to restart, I clicked no, then changed msconfig back to normal startup, then rebooted. Upon reboot, I get the Logitech splash screen saying to connect camera to pc. When I do, the hardware wizard starts but gives the error that the .inf file cannot be found and the Logitech screen says that no camera was connected. (Should I have rebooted, connected camera, then changed msconfig back to normal startup?) I ran services.msc and find that Human Interface Device Access is Disabled. Could this be keeping the system from finding the..inf file?
