This "rundll32 Entry point not found" pops up when I right click My Computer and select properities as well. PC also freezes at times when left idle for any amount of time. Platform is a Compaq 5321S running XP Could you have a look at the 1.99 HFT log and make any suggestion?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a slight problem. I just recently replaced both my power supply and my hard drive, and when I try to install Windows, a blue screen pops up which runs through everything it's doing. No problem, right? Wrong. What's happening is: it says "Setup is starting Windows", and that screen does not disappear. It stays that way and never goes away.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am having problems starting my PC. Each time I boot up, the PC is very slow and it can take up to 10 minutes to see desktop icons on the screen. At first, it displays the Windows Welcome page, and this is displayed for about 3 minutes. Eventually, the desktop is displayed with the background picture,
the cursor is also there, but there are no shortcuts/icons are on the screen.
If your computer takes a long time to become useable after starting up or logging on, or you want a clean boot of Winodws XP try this,Click Start > Run > Type "msconfig" > On the Startup tab click Disable All and on the Services tab check the Hide All Microsoft Service box and then click Disable All. Click Restart and Windows XP will restart with only the system services and applications running resulting in a vey fast logon / startup.
My client's task bar docked itself to the left side of his screen and would
like it returned to the bottom.
I dont care if faces will look stupid but i looking for prog that can show widescreen video zoomed to full square screen.

I use system Restore but it cant go to any before date.
When trying to start XP Media Center 2005 in safe mode, it completes loading Mups.sys, the screen goes blank and flickers slightly like it's changing video modes, and i get a "BSOD"/blue screen (photo attached)The computer boots normally in XP when booted normally, and in Kubuntu 7.04/Feisty and Kubuntu 7.10/ Gutsy when booted normally and in recovery mode.I suspect the problem may have to do with the failed install of the Netscape Activex Wrapper Plugin from buzzen.com which (supposedly) lets Gecko-based browsers run Activex scripts intended for IE7, but I'm not sure as I haven't used safe mode in some time

View 7 Replies View RelatedTurn the computer on, it starts to boot, I see the compaq splash screen then the blue windows is starting. Then it just restarts the process over. I have tried to repair windows: The F8 to last known good config & F8 safe and it just restarts from both of those as well. Win XP SP3 Currently doing this: You can boot from the cd and press R to go to the recovery console. Your best bet is to try running Checkdisk. So once in the recovery console, type chkdsk /r and press enter. It could take from 20 minutes to a couple of hours, depending on the repairs it needs to make
View 14 Replies View RelatedWanted to skip the Login screen on my Windows XP computer and login to my account automatically, so my computer would boot faster. I used this ( http://www.mvps.org/marksxp/WindowsXP/welskip.php ) guide. So, i went to Start > Run > I entered in "control userpasswords2" and hit "OK" > I unchecked the box which states "Users must enter a username and password to use this computer" and applied the setting > The computer then requested the username and password of the account I wished to automatically login. This is where I think I messed up. By default, the username box is filled in with "Administrator" and since I am the administrator I did not change the username to "Ben" (which is what my accounts name is) and I left the username box filled with "Administrator". Also, I left the password blank (this is because I have no password). Now when I try to start up my computer I am stuck on the blue screen stating "Starting Up" and I never get to my desktop. How do I fix this (meaning, how do I change this setting back)? Can I boot my computer into safe mode and then change the setting back, or is there an easier way to fix this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use my comp alot and installinguninstalling all sorts of stuff.. requiring reboots blah blah blah.. Checking out some other boot times my system seems abit slow.. or it's me being impatiant. My Boot Time is 38 seconds. I've tried every trick on the web i can find.. Programs, Reg edits, MSConfig etc.. and nothing seems to be saving me anytime at all.the only thing that saved me time was uninstalling Zone Alarm saving me 8 seconds, going from 46secs to 38secs.
System timings:
12 secs - BIOSRAID ControllersSystem list
3 secs - Blank
7 secs - Windows Logo with blue bar
7 secs - Blank
9 secs - Windows loadingDesktop loaded with all icons....
When i turn it on I get the 'Windows did not restart properly screen'and no matter which of the options I choose, i see the windows logo loading after a short time the blue screen apears for a split second and then its back to the first screen all over again.
iv gone into BIOS, i ran the HD self test, and both the short and long test fail before really even doing anything.
I have Windows XP and MS Office XP (2003) loaded on my PC. Whenever I boot up the PC, 3 sessions of MS Word open - 2 sessions have a new (blank) document open, and the 3rd session just shows Word as being open (no new document).I went to Documents and Settings | Application Data | Microsoft | Word | Startup to see if there was anything in the folder prompting Word to open the 3 sessions. The folder was empty. I then clicked Start | Run | msconfig | Enter to see if Winword.exe is in the Startup folder. I thought I might see it in there 3 times – one for each of the Word sessions that are opening whenever I boot up the PC. Strangely enough, Winword.exe wasn’t in the Startup folder at all – not even once.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI think some files are lost after I improperly shut down the laptop by hold down the power button. So when I start up computer, it stays at Window XP welcome screen, the bar keeps moving continuously, but it goes nowhere. It's a Toshiba Satellite and it comes with a recovery disc, but after it finish loading the disc, nothing happens but black screen and a mouse pointer. I also tried to reinstall everything from that recovery disc but can't.(also tried to hold down C key when laptop is powering up to reformat). When I try to go to safe mode, it shows blue screen then restart again after it stops loading the file. so anyone got any other ideas?it always stays at the welcome screen so i can't even login..

Every week I get a pop up balloon message from sys. tray warning me anti-virus needs updating - no problem there but after I close the reminder PART OF THE BLACK OUTLINE REMAINS ON DESKTOP! Only solution is to reboot - what could cause this? It's a tad distracting. ALSO How do I insert an animated gif as my signature? When I click in insert pic it asks what text is to be formatted?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm asking this advice for my wife's cousin. She just got a computer and is a real novice when it comes to using it. The problem she is having is when she launches an application, the desktop wallpaper image still stays displayed over the application screen. For example, when she launches Internet Explorer her home page of Google.com comes up but the background is not a plain white background but is the wallpaper image. The same thing occurs when she launches Microsoft Word. The document background is not a white page but is the wallpaper image. As far as I know the same thing happens for any application she launches. Unfortunately for me the computer with the problem is 200 miles away from where I live so I can't personally try to resolve this problem.
