"rundll32.exe" Errors / Fan Stays On All Of The Time
Jan 17, 2005
I am having an issue where my fan stays on all of the time. I also get "rundll32.exe" errors when trying to perform a system restore. This "rundll32 Entry point not found" pops up when I right click My Computer and select properities as well. PC also freezes at times when left idle for any amount of time. Platform is a Compaq 5321S running XP Could you have a look at the 1.99 HFT log and make any suggestion?

When I start the computer, I get a screen freeze and have to press Ctrl,Alt,Del once before any programs will startup. A lot of probs with internet connection and slowness while surfing as well as a lot of pop up ads in my face.
There are system boxes coming up with registry and dll errors and the whole system seems SLOW.

The family computer is playing up and to the best of my knowledge the computer in question just simply suddenly stopped working as it should. I am unable to get the 'default' welcome screen upon start up and am getting the logon box where you type in a username and passworld. I know how to get rid of this, user accounts>enable welcome screen - but it will not solve the problem. This is just the start of the problems. I get a whole host of errors which popup one after another.

I am being shown "script error","page error, you may need to change browser
settings",and "behind firewall" when I try and send files and photos. I've
tried everything I know to fix this, but I still see these errors and still
cannot send photos while I'm online.

When I shut the system down and box pops up and says rundll32.exe has encountered an error and it ask's me to 'end now' or 'exit'. If I 'exit' nothing will happen and the system will not shut down so I have to select 'end now'.

I was running F secure online scan when these problems all started. I have an error KB8964225.log on my screen every time I restart.I cannot access many programs obviously as the rundll is the base for a lot of things. I cannot get into system restore.

i always see rundll32.exe running in the taskmanager.i already know the basics abotu this program: it runs when you view ie properties or add/remove prog list, etc.the rundll32.exe thing pops up outta nowhere in the taskmanager.or sometimes, a flash pop-up ad comes up on the screen blocking everything. when i press the close button, rundll32.exe is still running. i hafta "end task" mto get rid of it completely (sometimes sound is still runing as well, until i end the task)ok so now, after about an hour using my computer, rundll32.exe appears on the tm again. it usually, if not always, comes in a pair. NOW, i see more and more being added every few hours/day. there are currently four of them running right now.

i think my rundll32.exe file got deleted and i tried downlaoding it again but that didn't work. I looked in system32 and it shows its there but the icon is a piece of paper, not a .exe icon, and it is preventing me from running programs, uninstalling programs and downloading anything. What do I do?

When right clicking my windows XP desktop and selecting properties I get the following error:"Rundll32.exe - bad image" The application or DLL C:windowssystem32 hemeui.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette."This error began occcuring after installing new video drivers for my 128 DDR ATI Radeon 9700 TX video card. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, and returning to an older set of drivers. No luck. While in safe mode I get the same error. On a potentially related note, attempting to access system performance settings from system properties also gives the same error.Otherwise everything else on my system appears to be working perfectly fine.

My task manager says a program called rundll32.exe is running, and I don't think that should be running in Windows XP, which is my operating system. It is not running on my wife's computer, which is also running Win XP. I have ran AVG free edition scans on my system both in regular windows and in safe mode, and it comes back virus free. I have also ran Panda on-line scan in windows but it also shows the computer to be virus free. Have an anti-trojan program on my machine, called The Cleaner, that also shows no infection. However, that rundll32.exe is in the taskbar and I don't believe it should be there. I am including a copy of my hijack this log if it will be of any assistance.

I was surfing on the web and my computer froze on me (Everything froze besides my mouse). So when I restarted my computer, everything was fine until I got to the loading screen (screen with the windows logo and the loading blue bar). I've waited for the longest time ever but the blue bar would keep moving while windows doesnt even bother to load up.I've tried running Windows in safe mode but its still stuck at the loading screen.

I think some files are lost after I improperly shut down the laptop by hold down the power button. So when I start up computer, it stays at Window XP welcome screen, the bar keeps moving continuously, but it goes nowhere. It's a Toshiba Satellite and it comes with a recovery disc, but after it finish loading the disc, nothing happens but black screen and a mouse pointer. I also tried to reinstall everything from that recovery disc but can't.(also tried to hold down C key when laptop is powering up to reformat). When I try to go to safe mode, it shows blue screen then restart again after it stops loading the file. so anyone got any other ideas?it always stays at the welcome screen so i can't even login..

This is a minor nuisance, but I'd like to get to the bottom of it! Every week I get a pop up balloon message from sys. tray warning me anti-virus needs updating - no problem there but after I close the reminder PART OF THE BLACK OUTLINE REMAINS ON DESKTOP! Only solution is to reboot - what could cause this? It's a tad distracting. ALSO How do I insert an animated gif as my signature? When I click in insert pic it asks what text is to be formatted?

I know this operation is needed for some parts of Windows to function, but it sounds like a Trojan can also use this file to slow your computer. Norton 2005 says it doesn't seem to be harming my sysetm, but my stsem has seemed to be slowing lately. Also, on my Ctrl + Alt + Delete it says rundll32.exe is running at startup. Should it be running at startup, and how do I know if I have the Trojan or not?
