I've been getting an error/blue screen message when ever i start up my Acer Aspire 5650 laptop. It is a couple of years old now and,my last laptop died after about the same time so hopefully someone can shed some light.The system will start up and i can use the it with out any trouble but it is anoying to have to sit for up to 5 - 10 minutes while it runs the check every time.

My computer started acting up, and I couldn't play any games.WoW mainly -(Yes I play it) and Cod4, So finally I managed to fix it myself and this is what I did. Went into device manager, disabled then enabled my GFX card, Then I have to go into display properties and change 3D acceleration to 0 then back to full, Also when I do this it corrects my resolution.
However, EVERY time I power down my computer, I have to do this which get's very annoying
windows starts up normally, i just log on and do nothing at all, everything is normal for about an hour or so ,then BOOM, screen goes black and the system crashes with a nasty blue screen it clearly indicates a registry error, i've been told not to mangle with the registry, i have made a registry backup prior to upgrading to WMA 11 though.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was having some problems with windows xp media centre 2005 on my dell dimension 9150 so i decided to do a repair, i put in the xp cd and booted from it at start up, then the blue screen appears and the process starts, i then get the choice to install windows or repair using the recovery console, i chose install windows and then pressed r for repair on the os that was already there.It now has gone to the installation off the os where it installs the files and finalizes the process, it is getting to the third option where it installs devices but it is getting about three quarters of the way and then the driver box pops up saying that microsoft does not athorize the use of the driver would you like to continue but the thing is i cant, my mouse will not move on the screen so i am unable to click continue.

Then I restarted the laptop - the windows logo came on along with sound and then it went to a black screen with just a blinking cursor at the upper top left. It will not take me to her desktop.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen i turn it on I get the 'Windows did not restart properly screen'and no matter which of the options I choose, i see the windows logo loading after a short time the blue screen apears for a split second and then its back to the first screen all over again.
iv gone into BIOS, i ran the HD self test, and both the short and long test fail before really even doing anything.
I use my comp alot and installinguninstalling all sorts of stuff.. requiring reboots blah blah blah.. Checking out some other boot times my system seems abit slow.. or it's me being impatiant. My Boot Time is 38 seconds. I've tried every trick on the web i can find.. Programs, Reg edits, MSConfig etc.. and nothing seems to be saving me anytime at all.the only thing that saved me time was uninstalling Zone Alarm saving me 8 seconds, going from 46secs to 38secs.

First off, here are my computer specs (I like to get detailed): HP Pavilion a820n running Windows XP SP2
540J Pentium 4 HT, 3.20 GHz (1MB L2 cache, 800MHz front side bus)512 MB PC3200 DDR SRAM memory
200 GB 7200RPM Serial ATA hard drive.Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 with up to 128 MB shared video memory.Thats whats on the front of my tower. So, the title of this thread is self explanatory. I just turn on the computer and after it loads, after the desktop appears and right around when the desktop icons are loading, it just goes blank and restarts itself. Last night I did an error check for the hard drive, and it didnt come up with anything. I actually went to bed while it was scandisk or whatever, and when I got up, the computer was in its neverending cycle of resterting and crashing. I can, however, load it in safe modes, like with networking; that's what I'm using right now.
Every time I turn on my PC chkdsk starts up saying that my partition F is dirty, Its run several times and I have no idea what started it. I've tried the instructions in Kellys Korner but had no luck, any ideas?

The error stated that I should run Chkdsk and then proceeds to restart and bring me to the Windows boot selection screen (safe mode, last known good configuration, normally). No matter which choice I pick, it always leads to the BSOD then restarts. Since this is getting me nowhere fast, I want to just format and reinstall windows. I do not have my recovery CDs, and when I enter the BIOS to change the boot sequence I cannot change it so the CD drive is above the hard drive in priority. The reason it gives me in the bios is that "All items on this menu cannot be modified in user mode. If any items require changes, please consult your system supervisor. Any ideas on how I can boot off the cd and reinstall windows from scratch?

Before it restarts a blue screen appears with some text in it but I couldn’t read it because it just flashes a split second. Today I was viewing a site when all of a sudden I got a request from my antivirus (norton) and made a big mistake by doing a one time authorization. Some Program for scaning your system for errors or something like that came up. Almost immediately after that a message from norton came up to close all programs and do a quick scan (not full scan) for problems. I did this and was then told to restart the computer. I can enter, and did, f2 startup. I read where I needed to delete an old partition, did, now nt4 startup disk with not load, as i am prompted that the drive is too big (3.99). I cant seem to partition the drive? I would like to just start from scratch, wipe drive, start over..I just want to get this going so I could update nt4 (currently has sp1). I don't quite remember what the blue screen said, but it mention something about disabling BIOS and disableing/removing any new software I had downloaded. I didn't download ANY new software, and I dont really know much about computers, therefore don't know what to do about the BIOs. It also did mention something about disabling caching as well. I thought this was a one time thing, so I booted up my computer again, and it happened at 14 minutes later, and then again and again. I tried doing a last known good configuration while booting up the computer, but than a bigger problem started. My mouse stopped working. It's a wireless Microsoft mouse, and I used the other one that I had, and that didn't work either. It seemed that the adapter didn't want to connect with the mouse, therefore just sat there with the light blinking.

View 9 Replies View RelatedThis morning when I booted up, I got a blue screen that had a message telling me something about memory (I think, was still asleep). it told me to start in safe mode.I did that then turned off. When it started back up it was in the advanced options window. I selected "Start normal mode" I have tried to get it to do it again so I could get the codes but cant. I know it showed many partitions plus the message and codes. I am using XP Home with my Dell Dimension desk top. It uses a Celeron 2.53 GHz and 512 Ram. Thank You for any suggestions. Also I delete temp regulary and defrag every week or so but don't know anything other than that as far as maintaining system.
