What happens for me is I can't even start up my computer because i get the blue screen as windows starts up. I don't know if my hard drive is still going to work or not. Anybody know what to do?
View 3 Replieswindows starts up normally, i just log on and do nothing at all, everything is normal for about an hour or so ,then BOOM, screen goes black and the system crashes with a nasty blue screen it clearly indicates a registry error, i've been told not to mangle with the registry, i have made a registry backup prior to upgrading to WMA 11 though.

I know i can restore to new but i will have lost so much information that it would take about 3 months to retain it all back. It says it can not find operating system. I tried to find a way to take a picture or something for the blue screen but it restarts a second after the blue screen appears. I couldn't get much information on the bluew screen but I remeber it said something like "no_page_setup" or something similiar. Before I could complete the process, I decided to try to fix the problems one last time. It Worked. Now when I turn the computer on It automatically directs me to a blue windows setup screen. In order to start WinXP I must manually select windows in the three second time limit.How do I get my computer to automatically start windows at start up?

It is a couple of years old now and,my last laptop died after about the same time so hopefully someone can shed some light.The system will start up and i can use the it with out any trouble but it is anoying to have to sit for up to 5 - 10 minutes while it runs the check every time.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was having some problems with windows xp media centre 2005 on my dell dimension 9150 so i decided to do a repair, i put in the xp cd and booted from it at start up, then the blue screen appears and the process starts, i then get the choice to install windows or repair using the recovery console, i chose install windows and then pressed r for repair on the os that was already there.It now has gone to the installation off the os where it installs the files and finalizes the process, it is getting to the third option where it installs devices but it is getting about three quarters of the way and then the driver box pops up saying that microsoft does not athorize the use of the driver would you like to continue but the thing is i cant, my mouse will not move on the screen so i am unable to click continue.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have recently reformatted my aspire one with windows xp home edition from a USB bootable flash drive. Everything went well as expected except for one thing.When I turn on my computer, the acer logo appears then a page appears again which asks me to choose whether to start windows xp or repair it using USB. I have to always click the start windows xp before the windows logo appears and everyhting in windows is alright. I dont know how to fix this so that after the acer logo appears, windows logo comes next then desktop.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a friend who is using windows xp.When they boot the computer up.They encounter a black screen with some wording.He tells me that the wording is to do with ms dos.Then the screen goes black,with just the cusor showing in the top hand left corner.
I have an idea of what the problem is,and think that someone has gone into his settings and asked the machine to boot up in dos.
I have Microsoft Windows XP and once I turn it on it appears as it is restarting but as soon as it starts up after the black screen that says Microsoft Windows XP the screen goes black and says monitor going to sleep and then it restarts over and over and over!
View 5 Replies View RelatedJust switched of pc,Switched it back on and I get a page with,safe mode etc and to choose a setting.Which ever setting I pick the computer goes to the widows xp window then goes back to the black screen then to the xp startup screen again.It does this all the time.It was all working well until switching off.I am on laptop now as unable to access pc.

When I start the computer, it asks if for the choice of Safe Mode, w/ Networking, w/Command Prompt or Normally.
I've tried them all and if I try it normally, it won't get past the XP loading screen. It's loading and then it flashes a blue screen for a second and then restarts the computer again.
I tried pressing F8 at boot and selected 'Disable automatic restart on system failure' and this is what I get

I even tried using this http://forums.techguy.org/6669592-post28.html to get to chkdsk At boot, F12, chose CD/DVD, but still nothing, I even tried disabling boot from +HDD, FDD and LAN from the bios setup menu to see if it works and this is what I got, it just keeps going on and on unless I enable boot from +HDD

XP won't get beyond a 'blue screen' since I attempted to update the IDE ATA / ATAPI Controller drivers. The update went as planned, until I selected the best version. XP then restarted my computer and a 'blue screen' appears refering to 'atapi.sys' as being the problem.I can't get XP started in any form of Safe Mode by accessing 'F8' during startup. The only part accessible is the Bios.

Just the last couple of days I've been having trouble getting it to start - I get the Blue Screen and when I finally do get it going the System Error message. There are several such ERROR Events which say the source is Dhcp there are also some Event 57 ftdisk.If anybody has any ideas about what I may have done to create this problem, please respond. The only thing I can remember changing in the past few days is starting to use a USB headset. I noticed this afternoon that when I unplugged the headset instead of going to the Blue Screen again - the computer went forward as usual.

But recently I have problems starting my PC.It is unable to start windows.I tried to restart it many times.Same result.Finaly after starting in safe mode which was also dificult (many tries) the Windows started normaly.What could I do stoping this and I 'd like to find out what is causing my PC problems?In my system event viewer the latest error is "system error" event 1003 with these parameters.
I can't get pass the windows logo. I can't boot into safe mode, can't boot into last knowm configuration or boot to a crompt. I don't have a recovery disc. Can anybody help?

Im not sure what i did. But i remember changing my antivirus from eset to panda then to eset again. View 6 Replies View RelatedCan I start a bit vague here as I know nothing about computers.I have a Mesh computer running Windows XP. I upgraded to Vista but ended up with a reformat and reinstalling XP clean and the computer was running fine. For no reason at all (ie no changes were made), Windows suddenly wouldn't load and I got a blue screen with KERNEL-DATA-INPAGE-ERROR (or similar).There was a bit of a delay as I took out the stock Seagate Barracuda 250Gb SATA and couldn't get hold of a replacement so replaced it with a Samsung Spinpoint F1 750Gb which it wouldn't auto-detect for love nor money. My neighbour claims my RAM is OK and the Samsung detected OK in his machine.I therefore took out the Samsung and bought a new Seagate Barracuda 320GB SATA drive and fitted that. The BIOS auto-detected it and I tried to install Windows. It allowed me to create a partition but then proclaimed it couldn't format the disk. I then got a blue screen with PAGE-FAULT-IN-NONPAGED-AREA which variously blamed the partmgr.sys file and the setupdd.sys file.
When you press Enter to continue it says <Setup disk not recognised> or something like that. Sorry to be vague but I'm having to try and remember this in work.Now because the machine has had problems with two hard drives, I'm fairly sure it's not the HDD itself but much beyond that, I'm completely lost.MESH support haven't really been much help and have recently sent me a BIOS update file which I am lothe to use because I'll probably screw the whole thing up and I think I need to resolve the problem before adding any variables...or maybe just buy a new computer.Any pointers would be good. I have no technical knowledge I'm afraid and obviously no access to the internet from the machine itself. I have no boot disk either.
I just bought a brand new Western Digital 120g Hard Drive. I am trying to put it together with some other spare parts to make a computer. The mother board isnt too old, it a 1.2 gig pentium 3 I believe. When ever I first installed the hard drive, I tried to install windows. When ever windows is finished setting up, the computer restarts, windows starts to load, and then I get that awfull blue screen that reads "Unmountable_Boot_Volume" blah blah blah. I can get it into safe mode, but that is it. I have tried everything on this newsgroup, from loading the service pack, changing things around in the bios, chkdsk /r, chkdsk /p, fixboot c:, and a couple of other things. I also tried the lifeguard disk that came with the hard drive.

It says 156 total objects infected. If i purchase the malwarebytes anti malware will that fix the security alert along with the blue screen error? View 2 Replies View RelatedThis morning it tells me it has recovered from a serious error, but after about 5 minutes of seemingly normal usage, it briefly flashed some kind of blue screen error (no way in hell I could read it)Now it is constantly asking for a chkdsk, I let it run and all appears OK... but when I get to the login screen the display starts to look weird like there are lines running through it, and it promptly flashes the same blue screeen and starts all over again.
I have been able to briefly get into safe mode, tried a system restore but when I went to reboot the processes started all over again. PLEASE NOTE that getting into safe mode takes some patience.... it hangs FOREVER when loading the agpCPQ.sys driver, and sometimes just goes ahead and reboots on it's own.. TWICE so far today I have managed to get into safe mode, but only for a few minutes before it reboots and starts over.
