Blue Screen, Hangs At Agpcpq.sys, Ever Since Windows Update?
May 27, 2007
This morning it tells me it has recovered from a serious error, but after about 5 minutes of seemingly normal usage, it briefly flashed some kind of blue screen error (no way in hell I could read it)Now it is constantly asking for a chkdsk, I let it run and all appears OK... but when I get to the login screen the display starts to look weird like there are lines running through it, and it promptly flashes the same blue screeen and starts all over again.
I have been able to briefly get into safe mode, tried a system restore but when I went to reboot the processes started all over again. PLEASE NOTE that getting into safe mode takes some patience.... it hangs FOREVER when loading the agpCPQ.sys driver, and sometimes just goes ahead and reboots on it's own.. TWICE so far today I have managed to get into safe mode, but only for a few minutes before it reboots and starts over.
My computer starts up. It goes to the gateway screen where I have options to press f2 and f10. Then it goes to the screen that I don't know what to call where I have an option to press f11...something I'd like to avoid doing if possible. Then it goes to a new screen saying that windows couldn't start up and gives me 5 options: Safe mode, Safe mode with Networking, Safe mode with Command Prompt, Last known settings that worked, and Start Windows Normally. Last known settings that worked and Start Windows Normally both go to the windows loading screen, which loads for a bit, and then my computer resets. All three Safe Modes start running off system32 directories and stop at system32DrivesagpCPQ.sys before my computer resets.
when I first start the computer, windows hangs between the black windows logo screen and the first blue screen that says "windows is starting". I have to hit the reset button, it goes to the dos screen with the safe mode, etc. choices. I choose "start using last known good configuration" and I'm good to go. If I turn the computer off during the day and turn it back on, It works fine. It only hangs on the first start of the day.
so Im suppose to be able to fix most of the problems on my laptop since I do not consider myself a newbie, but now I am stumped! I own an Acer TravelMate 8204. This has been a dream machine, until now.On Old Years Night, a two year old hit on power switch on my laptop while it was starting up and turned it off when I saw this I turned it back on and it started to do a scan disk then the child pressed down the button again, I was in such shock I could not move. Since then, windows wont start fully it gets passed the black screen with the Windows XP logo and then goes to a blue screen with the XP logo in the middle the one that comes up while XP is starting up your setting. And it stays there, I have left it on for almost 24 hours hoping it will get past it nothing.
This problem only applies to installing updates in Windows XP. It does not seem to matter if I download the updates manually and attempt to install them one at a time or not. It also does not appear to matter which update I am attempting to install. Any install of a windows update crashes XP and cases a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) event with the specific error message of "Bad_Pool_Caller".I have an picture of the Blue Screen and will upload it upon request. Also note: There are NO yellow question marks in the Hardware Device list and all my system drivers appear to be signed and working properly.
The little windows updater appeared at the bottom of my screen so I allowed the update to continue. When it did, a window came up to install the update (I thought it was wierd at the time because it looked like a non windows looking update), however I let it finish and then my computer just froze...
I rebooted and now when it gets to the windows loading screen I get a blue screen that says REGISTRY ERROR Below that, the exact error is STOP: 0x000000051 (0x0000001, 0xE1777008, 0x0134A000, 0x0000001D6) Is there anyway I can try and do windows restore or backup my files in any way? I have tried every possible boot option (safe mode etc...) and it does the same thing. I can't afford to reformat
When i turn on,first Windows screen appears, then a blue screen blinks, then hp screen, then a blank page with cursor on the top left, then a screen with the message"we apologise for the inconvinience but Windows did not start successfully.there was a hardware or software problem.I tried to run it in Safe mode, Windows normally, last known configuration but no luck......Then someone suggested to Get into the Recovery Console by making a Recovery CD with ISO image but the machine is not responding to any of it.Is it with CD/DVD ROM drive or any major hardware problem???...I ran a self hard drive test and it seemed fine
I am running into a very annoying issue. We all work for a local PC repair shop and have had at least 10 pc's and laptops come in during the last two days with all the same issue. Customers have installed some windows update, rebooted and the systems will only display a black screen with a cursor. Some will get into windows if you leave them sitting after an hour or so, but no services are running, cannot run anything on the system (obviously without services running). Have tried repair installs, checkdisk's, and still no luck. Have also scanned HDD's on different systems with numerous anti- virus -spyware programs. nothing found. Any one have any idea's?We literally had 6 or 7 day rushes for the issues from major VIP people that own local businesses, and our only fix has been to reload windows. Any insight would be great. And please understand that we are all Microsoft certified and have tried all of your run of the mill fixes for windows.
so when i start my computer everything goes fine until, the windows xp screen comes up when it loads then the bar freezes and a blue screen pops up saying."check for any viruses. remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers check your hardrive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. it also says to check for hardrive corruption.the strange thing is, is that i can run bart pe tools and access my hardrive but i cant start my computer regular idk.

I tried to install windows xp professional. When it is installing the os in the blue screen. A pop up says. I tried to reinstall my windows xp because it couldnt boot up because it say that my drv.sbd got corrupted or missing file so i try to reinstall the os but problem popped up.The file AFw.Sys (unknown) is needed and they ask me to browse it for the path file but i cant find it nowhere. And then it says The exception unknown software exception (0XC0000409) occurred in the application at location 0X6976Ea96
windows starts up normally, i just log on and do nothing at all, everything is normal for about an hour or so ,then BOOM, screen goes black and the system crashes with a nasty blue screen it clearly indicates a registry error, i've been told not to mangle with the registry, i have made a registry backup prior to upgrading to WMA 11 though.
The computer would load with large icons and large screen. after that the windows security alert comes up. RIght now its doing a total system scan. It says 156 total objects infected. Using XP Home. Have Professional to try too which hasn't worked. OK, so about a month ago, I started getting BSOD, more and more regularly, until my computer wont start. So naturally, I try and reformat and reinstall. BSOD. So, I took it apart, put it back together, tried to reinstall, BSOD.
when i get my Dell Inspiron E1705 to boot from my windows xp cd it goes through the screen where xp is trying install all the raid drivers etc.. before i can actually access my two hard drives delete them and create a new partion. right when its about to get to that screen i get the blue screen of death. well i have been reading around i read that going into my bios and changing my hard drive config to sata auto detect will fix my problem.
well i went into my bios and i do not have any sort of options when it comes to my system to hard drive configuration so im assuming if i do not have this feature or option that i have a IDE hard drive not sata. so if this is my situation how do i get my computer to stop going to the blue screen of death before i get to the screen where i can delete my partion
A while back I tried to reload the entire WinXP and start from scratch due to some viruses and what not. Before I could complete the process, I decided to try to fix the problems one last time. It Worked. Now when I turn the computer on It automatically directs me to a blue windows setup screen. In order to start WinXP I must manually select windows in the three second time limit. How do I get my computer to automatically start windows at start up?

I am running Windows XP Home Edition, and I have recently been having frequent crash errors. Everything seems to be running fine and suddenly the screen goes blue and a long message shows that said that the computer is shutting down to prevent a crash.
Have a new HP laptop which had Windows 7 pre-installed. I couldn't get on with it so I tried installing XP but all I got was the "Blue Screen of Death" telling me that Windows had detected an error and had shut down. I tried again with the same result so I tried installing Linux (Ubuntu). This went on fine and so I tried XP again. Still the blue screen of death. XP will not install and I would be grateful for any help anyone can give to an oldie.
When I plug my USB interfaced memory card, I can easily access it through my .NET program but when I connect another memory card with USB interface my system immediately crashes with blue screen of death. What can be the reason(s) and also how to get read of these problem?
My updates are set on notify and this update has downloaded but never installs and goes away. I have tried installing it many times but the yellow shield continues to pop back up saying it is there to be installed. This is on a fully up to date XP SP2 OS system, with Avast and is Spyware clean as well, on an older generic clone 600mhz AMD K6-III with 384MB Ram and plenty of hard disk space. Although it is a little slow and methodical it has never caused me any problems
Windows update shield informs me I need to install Office XP SP3. I click on it, but the installation hangs up halfway through asking me to insert the Office XP CD - which I don't have.
Went to Microsoft download page and clicked on full file version (SINCE I don't have the CD), but still get the request to insert the CD halfway through the installation. Since I can't complete the download, the update icon pops up every time I log on. Any suggestions?
Since I uploaded the update of Windows Defender my options on my PC have changed.I can no longer type any particular letters using my keybord without a window popping up. Here are the following keys which causes me problems: E = Opens up My Computer R= RUN U= Utilility Manager D= Desktop F= Search Results L= Login Window M= Desktop I cannot type in Google, Firefox address bar. If I press one of these keys while I'm on my Desktop these actions occur too.
