I don't know what's happened to my computer but it run slow as well as when it starts up it takes time and the programs don't load up at startup. Also it's very laggy(slow) It's Windows Xp(Home Edition) 2.53Mhz, 512RAM.

Operating System - Windows XP running on a HP Pavillion 761n - Missing dll files such as:mscvr80.dll and msvcp80.dll. Can't seem to find these files anywhere or I just don't know where to locate them.

But after the windows update that installed internet explorer 8, the icons and start menu take at least 5 min to load, if they do at all(sometimes they don't even load at all). View 4 Replies View RelatedMy computer takes over an hour to load when it is first turned on and after that programs run extremely slowly. It is a Hp Pavilion, with an Intel Celeron Processor. It has 256 MB DDR SDRAM Memory and a 60GB Ultra DMA hard drive.

There has been no changes made to my machine and I scanned for viruses on this machine and nothing is found. Could I get some help in why this is computer is a lag-a-holic? It's been a good machine until it's started to lag.

View 8 Replies View Relatedit enters a kind of loading spasm which can go on for several minutes, making this repeating, rhythmic pattern of loading noises, before everything goes back to normal. Foxit Reader and McAfee Security Center are the worst, but right after booting most programs cause it, as does merely logging on which now takes about ten minutes. It doesn't exactly make the computer unusable but it's incredibly frustrating. Outside of the spasms it's perfectly normal.
I haven't installed anything recently, except for a demo of Penumbra: Black Plague which I've since uninstalled . I have very little free hard disk space (1.5 GB of a 60 GB disk) but that's been the case for some time, while this only began a few days ago. I've done full scans with Ad-Aware, Spybot and McAfee which turned up nothing more than a few tracking cookies. I'll paste a HijackThis log if someone reckons it'd be of use, but I'm uncertain whether this is a malware problem (hence my not posting this in the malware section). It's occurred to me to just format and reinstall windows, but perhaps there's a likely simpler solution?
When I open "Add and remove programs" from control panel, the window appears but the list content takes a very long time to open. When I talk about very long time, I means hours I open the "Add and remove programs" and after I go to sleep and in the morning, the list is filled.

Sometimes, on restarting, I would get the "Serious error" pop-up, which I always sent, and always got different results. Sometimes it would say it was an unknown driver error, sometimes an anti-virus error, once a RAM error. View 8 Replies View RelatedI decided to Delete IE8 Beta yesterday but after it caused probs for my XP operating system I looked up on here how to revert back to IE7 (I don't have SP3 DL'd so it seemed like an easy fix). But now everytime I try to open IE it starts to load and then just disapears (No error message or anything) I ran ad-aware and AVG and found nothing so I don't think its a malware problem. But I went ahead and ran HJT in case you guys can tell something by looking at it. I think I royally messed up this time & I just hope someone can help me out I'm using Mozilla right now but hate that I cannot copy/paste so I really need IE back.

My Windows start-up is pretty decent (after I log-in to my user account). What's taking too long is the "Windows Is Starting Up" screen:It takes about 5 mins. or so before the log-in screen shows up. Anyway, here's what happened prior to this event:
My Windows XP OS has just been repaired due to a stop error. One of my RAM cards (I have two installed previously) has also been removed because the technician deemed that it was the cause of the stop error.Now my question is, is it the cause of the slow down? I mean having a smaller RAM? I'm thinking that it could be the cause but I'm having second thoughts because I only had 1 RAM card installed way back but the stalling of the "Windows is starting up" screen never happened. I've had a slow running PC, yes, but I never had to wait that long for the "log-in" screen to show up (10 seconds tops). I only have 6.46 GB free space now which is small

I just turn on the computer and after it loads, after the desktop appears and right around when the desktop icons are loading, it just goes blank and restarts itself. Last night I did an error check for the hard drive, and it didnt come up with anything. I actually went to bed while it was scandisk or whatever, and when I got up, the computer was in its neverending cycle of resterting and crashing. I can, however, load it in safe modes, like with networking; that's what I'm using right now.
Every time I turn on my PC chkdsk starts up saying that my partition F is dirty, Its run several times and I have no idea what started it. I've tried the instructions in Kellys Korner but had no luck, any ideas?

I don;t know what is going on. This has started to happen on friday. I;ve ran the following and they found some stuff and have deleted it but i still have the same problem. I;ve even tried system restore and it still persist. I noticed that when i try to delete my history i get an error about not being able to open shell32.dll or something and that some about a inetcpl.cpl is having a problem.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi just bought this new computer for 1 of the staff and i have configured his profile. but then i tried to browse the internet and found it very slow, not in opening the IE, but in loading the pages. it takes around 20 to 30 seconds to load a page. when i use ping to check the connectivity, it takes a long time to display the first line, but it gives me a 1ms when pinging the server, which is good.
now i login with the administrator account and find the internet browsing is fast, but again the ping takes a while to display the first line. i did give that user Administrator permissions and tried again, but it's the same issue. i thought it would be higher permissions which could affect the user. So, i added the user to "domain admins", "administrators" groups, and i tried again, but the same situation
My computer started acting up, and I couldn't play any games.WoW mainly -(Yes I play it) and Cod4, So finally I managed to fix it myself and this is what I did. Went into device manager, disabled then enabled my GFX card, Then I have to go into display properties and change 3D acceleration to 0 then back to full, Also when I do this it corrects my resolution.
However, EVERY time I power down my computer, I have to do this which get's very annoying
I've been getting an error/blue screen message when ever i start up my Acer Aspire 5650 laptop. It is a couple of years old now and,my last laptop died after about the same time so hopefully someone can shed some light.The system will start up and i can use the it with out any trouble but it is anoying to have to sit for up to 5 - 10 minutes while it runs the check every time.

I am having problems starting my PC. Each time I boot up, the PC is very slow and it can take up to 10 minutes to see desktop icons on the screen.
