View 3 Replies View RelatedWhenever i launch internet explorer it takes longer than usual to load. And when i go to type a web address it just freezes and never loads a new webpage. I don;t know what is going on. This has started to happen on friday. I;ve ran the following and they found some stuff and have deleted it but i still have the same problem. I;ve even tried system restore and it still persist. I noticed that when i try to delete my history i get an error about not being able to open shell32.dll or something and that some about a inetcpl.cpl is having a problem.
The problem now is, when we goto close down the computer, it takes ages, doesn't seem to do any thing for ages. A error box comes up for "ccApp" which is part of norton antivirus (apparently)It literally takes about 4mins to close down.We have been using firewalls and did virus check.

When he chooses to shutdown it can take up to 10 minutes for it to shutdown and he is really starting to get worked up. However, when he uses it at home it shuts down right away. Can anyone suggest a posible reason for this? His laptop is a Dell with Windows xp. I will be monitoring this thread so if you need any extra info about the problem then drop me a line.
View 6 Replies View Relatedi just bought this new computer for 1 of the staff and i have configured his profile. but then i tried to browse the internet and found it very slow, not in opening the IE, but in loading the pages. it takes around 20 to 30 seconds to load a page. when i use ping to check the connectivity, it takes a long time to display the first line, but it gives me a 1ms when pinging the server, which is good.
now i login with the administrator account and find the internet browsing is fast, but again the ping takes a while to display the first line. i did give that user Administrator permissions and tried again, but it's the same issue. i thought it would be higher permissions which could affect the user. So, i added the user to "domain admins", "administrators" groups, and i tried again, but the same situation
I noticed that there was critical updates needed (XP/SP3) so i installed them and the browser was taking ages to load ( 2-5min's!) so i downloaded IE7 thinking that maby it needed that to work properly but still no success. Once the browser is opened it's pretty normal but if i open new links / tabs they take ages to load and its the same with closing them, I've been searching for quite a while for an answer but no luck.
View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen my windows xp starts up it takes ages to load the desktop icons(3-5 mins). I've tried scanning with mcafee and trend micro but nothing was found. This also happened to me a while ago but then i simply restored my computer to an earlier time which worked, but it's happenning to me now again and i again tried restoring my computer to an earlier time but this time it didn't work, it said it couldn't restore the computer to that time

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a problem with Internet Explorer (thought this question belongs to this forum). Well, everytime I exit Internet Explorer, then open it back again - I see that all my cookies were deleted. Why does that happen? Is it some wrong configuration in IE? If so, how and where can I change it?
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I start IE6 it just hangs on a white screen. I have SP2 and I've removed and reinstalled IE6 a couple of times but it doesn't help. When I launch IE it just hangs attempting to load my homepage (google) but I can press stop and access Options etc.. Firefox and all my other programs that access the internet are working fine but I need IE working too.I can't even access my router control panel via IE which makes me think this is a IE networking configuration problem. I've tried flushing dns but that didn't help.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have put my Internet Explorer favorites on the start menu. When I click start, then favorites, and then click on a link, sometimes it will dial up and go to that particular web page as it should, it will only partially load the Internet Explorer page. It doesn't dial up and just locks at that point. When that happens I have to dial up my ISP directly, then open Internet Explorer, go to my favorites menu from there and then to the link I want
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy computer is very fast, intel q8300 etc... and used to load very quick. But after the windows update that installed internet explorer 8, the icons and start menu take at least 5 min to load, if they do at all(sometimes they don't even load at all). There is no internet explorer 8 to uninstall
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have posted this problem before and haven't really gotten it resolved. My computer takes so long to load pages its driving me crazy. I feel like I am on dial up. it takes like a minute for a page to load. I have tried the AFT cleaner
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Windows start-up is pretty decent (after I log-in to my user account). What's taking too long is the "Windows Is Starting Up" screen:It takes about 5 mins. or so before the log-in screen shows up. Anyway, here's what happened prior to this event:
My Windows XP OS has just been repaired due to a stop error. One of my RAM cards (I have two installed previously) has also been removed because the technician deemed that it was the cause of the stop error. Now my question is, is it the cause of the slow down? I mean having a smaller RAM? I'm thinking that it could be the cause but I'm having second thoughts because I only had 1 RAM card installed way back but the stalling of the "Windows is starting up" screen never happened. I've had a slow running PC, yes, but I never had to wait that long for the "log-in" screen to show up (10 seconds tops). I only have 6.46 GB free space now which is small
I don't know what's happened to my computer but it run slow as well as when it starts up it takes time and the programs don't load up at startup. Also it's very laggy(slow) It's Windows Xp(Home Edition) 2.53Mhz, 512RAM.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever I open explorer it turns my entire computer into molases. In task manager I see it takes 50% CPU and almost 100MB memory.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, explorer.exe (nothing to do with Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer) sometimes shoots up and uses 100% of the CPU. Which makes the computer useless unless you shut explorer.exe down in the Task manager and restart it. I haven't been able to see a pattern. It's almost completely random, from what I've seen. I've got Service Pack 2 and all patches from Windows Update, plus any I could easily find for the motherboard.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAbout 3 minutes after boot up explore takes up 99-100% of the CPU. I go to task man (ctrl-alt-del) and go to the processes tab and turn it off. The CPU % goes to 0. Then I go to the aps tab and hit new task and turn it back on. In about 3 minutes we are back to 100% of CPU. I now run all my aps through task man but I need to use explorer to move my files around from one folder to another. How do I get explore to stop doing this. I run the virius scan but can't find anything.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhenever i open an explorer and right click on a file, it will terminate all open explorers as well as take down my launch bar (which will subsequently be rebuilt though). What i want to do is to delete a file, and it does not work with pressing delete either (same effect). But, as i said, the whole conext menu wont open. I am not really aware of newly installed programs, could be wrong on that one though.
