Internet Explorer 6 Won't Load Pages And Hanging With White Screen?
Oct 16, 2006
When I start IE6 it just hangs on a white screen. I have SP2 and I've removed and reinstalled IE6 a couple of times but it doesn't help. When I launch IE it just hangs attempting to load my homepage (google) but I can press stop and access Options etc.. Firefox and all my other programs that access the internet are working fine but I need IE working too.I can't even access my router control panel via IE which makes me think this is a IE networking configuration problem. I've tried flushing dns but that didn't help.
Any one know what the problem might be? I try to open Internet Explorer but all i get is a white screen. When i try to open some files from my desktop a window pops up asking me if want to Open/Save the file. Im always asked if i want to open/save files even if theyre part of my system. I believe its a problem with explorer.
I have a cable connection and lately I have notice that most of my internet pages are laoding painfully slow. I have clean up the temp files, cache and have check for adware/spyware. I am directly connect to the cable modem so there is no interference with a router. My cable provider says there is no "packet loss" when they ping by IP. They suggest that it is something to do with my PC any suggestions?
I have come to use my system restore today and it doesnt load up. When i first click it the egg timer appears to load but nothing happens, when i click it again it loads but i just get a white screen.
Internet Explorer Problem. It was an Add-Ons problem but I can't seem to fix it.When I am in the original window of Internet Explorer and I click on a link that opens a new window. When I want to close the new window it will close down all of Internet Explorer and leave a Blank Page. Then it will want to report the error. It did not used to do this. It seemed to have started happening about the time I upgrade IE and they started the new tabs. I work online and I need it to stay open. I also need to be able to close those extra windows so i don't have to many piling up. It is really bogging down my work.
I have reset IE, changed setting and my IE will only open one window and not allow me to go back. Every time I try to open another IE window the original window becomes the new one. I don't have any virus or spyware, I have checked for all that.
Why would Internet Explorer not display pages on one user account, but be just fine in another user account? I havent found any more spyware or viruses on the computer in any user accounts.
Internet explorer default pages for events such as navigation canceled, navigation failed, offline information, and blank page are stored in the registry. You can replace these pages with your own if you would like to customize Internet Explorer. Start regedit, if you are unfamiliar with regedit please see our FAQ. Whenever i launch internet explorer it takes longer than usual to load. And when i go to type a web address it just freezes and never loads a new webpage. I don;t know what is going on. This has started to happen on friday. I;ve ran the following and they found some stuff and have deleted it but i still have the same problem. I;ve even tried system restore and it still persist. I noticed that when i try to delete my history i get an error about not being able to open shell32.dll or something and that some about a inetcpl.cpl is having a problem.
I've got a problem with Internet Explorer (thought this question belongs to this forum). Well, everytime I exit Internet Explorer, then open it back again - I see that all my cookies were deleted. Why does that happen? Is it some wrong configuration in IE? If so, how and where can I change it?
I've created a new user account for my other half and it all works fine EXCEPT for the fact that any URL which doesn't end in '.htm' or '.html' won't load in IE6. also have the google toolbar and none of the buttons seem to do anything (but I think this is related to my first problem). On my own account, everything works perfectly. I've tried as much as I can without ANY success (checking for viruses, spyware, many settings etc.).
I have put my Internet Explorer favorites on the start menu. When I click start, then favorites, and then click on a link, sometimes it will dial up and go to that particular web page as it should, it will only partially load the Internet Explorer page. It doesn't dial up and just locks at that point. When that happens I have to dial up my ISP directly, then open Internet Explorer, go to my favorites menu from there and then to the link I want
I was on my dad's laptop earlier on which is a Dell Inspiron | 5150, which crashed on me and wasnt responding... so i pressed the power button to turn it off as i tried Ctrl, Alt & Del to bring up the task manager but was taking far too long.Since i done that i waited a couple of minutes and tried to turn it back on, but now when i turn it on im only getting a black screen with a white cursor flashing. No windows or anything is loading up, I've even tried leaving it for say 10 mins or so and still no sign of it bringing the windows logo up.
I have posted this problem before and haven't really gotten it resolved. My computer takes so long to load pages its driving me crazy. I feel like I am on dial up. it takes like a minute for a page to load. I have tried the AFT cleaner
I believe I have a virus but I can't seem to find information about it. I am unable to clear it up when I run virus checks either. What's happening is this. When ever I open a web page (aol is my home page with ie as my brower) the page takes forever to load and then just after it does load I get a message saying "We're sorry, the content you requested is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." My computer is also EXTREMELY slow to load pages - pages that use to load within 5 seconds (like when checking email) can take 5 minutes to open, if it opens at all.
I tend to have problems with Firefox taking an unusually long time to load pages, and normally, I can solve that with using a System Restore. This time, though, I can't get System Restore to work. I've tried several times from various checkpoints, but each time I get a message saying "Incomplete Restoration." I know this topic has been posted before, and I tried using the advice given in this thread I disabled AVG Anti-Virus, but I didn't help. I know from the previous thread that you'll need to look at the system restore logs in order to help; so, I'll just post those now to save time.
This all started out that I was having a microphone audio recording problem the other day and was trying to solve that...A couple of days ago, I did a complete HP System Restore on my computer to try to fix the problem, not realizing that it would do all that it did to my computer. Im having to re-install alot of my programs, etc. Now When Im trying to watch a video online, if I click the 'full screen' view it comes up just totally white screen with no picture at all.
Often as of late, my system hangs when on the Internet (using Firefox 2.0.0.20). When I CTRL-ALT-DEL, it indicated that Firefox.exe is usually running at 80-98% CPU usage. My system is using Windows XP Home as an OS and it has a 1.6 GHz Pentium 4 processor with 768 MB RAM.
I have an xp installation that is starting to hang either soon after the welcome screen or else when i start using the pc such as internet explorer, messenger or some other application. The pc stops completely and i cannot access task manager or anything else, just have to switch off from the switch. I ran a checkdisk on the hard drive but that found no problems.
I'm running windows xp on a e-machine and several days ago it stopped loading when I turn the computer on i get the start screen the a error message saying windows explorer has encountered a problem and it need to close it closes then i get nothing I can not even get the start screen. I can get in on safe mode but then i cant sign on the internet please help and when i try to sign on it shows i have a DSL modem and i don't i use dial up.
I have two pc laptops on one everything is great, in color and you can view everything as you would expect ie tab options and backgrounds. on the second (compaq presario 2200 laptop windows xp home) you cannot see tab options and internet page backgrounds, borders, tabs are all white and the text is in back or white text boxes (colour is also shown on the pages) i have tried to show axtive x etc and i do not have anything like norton oporating. i have been through nearly every setting but cannot work out why my laptop is veiwing its display like this and how to ammend it.
A video card error but am not sure. I did restart my computer in safe mode and it works fine this way. I did update my driver but it didn't help any. I am getting a full black screen that sits there for 3-7 seconds then you see the internet explorer page then when I try to search or go anywhere theres the black screen again.
System has been shutting down and restarting up on its own, it has done this three times, i looked back at anything new i have done recently and all the i can think of was i deleted Open Office, i received a error message saying if i delete it some programs may not operate correctly. Also i tried to delete Windows messenger Live in the the control panel under add remove windows components i deleted internet explorer by mistake and had to reinstall it. The last time it didn't shut down but i got a blue screen that said Windows has detected a software or hardware problem and has shut down to prevent damage, check any new hardware or software that have been recently installed, the error massage was " IRQL_NOT LESS_OR_ EQUAL. I am running IBM pentium 4 windows XP.
.My problem is this... When I have multiple pages open I can't close just one. If I close one of the pages an error message pops up that reads "internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close" with the options "debug" , "send error report" , and "don't send".
I went to pc pitstop and did a test on my computer. Everything seems to do ok except for the internet connection. What is bandwidth and ping. Here shows the results of mine Gotta love computers.lol What should this be?I have windows XP and connect via cable.I thought adding memory made it faster but when i load some web pages it's not.
How do you do this please? its not a prob with my printer, I think I remember adjusting something in windows but can't remember how. I print out a page off the net, but a portion of the right hand side is always missing .. What is the solution to fixing that please??
I've done about as much research on this as I can understand, but I am still at a loss. I have recently been getting the infamous BSOD and lots of Error Reporting Messages. Most commonly, the error reporting is with Internet Explorer or Firefox, and tonight my BSOD was during a full system scan using F-Secure.
I used to get BSODs all the time, but a co-worker took it home for a weekend and replaced some RAM (I think?) and got things running again. This only solved the problem for a few months and things have gotten progressively worse.
