Internet Explorer Not Display Pages On One User Account?
Jun 11, 2007
Why would Internet Explorer not display pages on one user account, but be just fine in another user account? I havent found any more spyware or viruses on the computer in any user accounts.
I have xp home eddition with 4 user accounts in use. 2 of these accounts work perfectly. The other 2 have problems. All programs and documents are in place but when you hit start button the display is empty, also both these accounts will not connect to the internet. This has only been happening last 2 days. Under internet options 'never dial a connection' is ticked when I change this and hit apply it goes back to 'never dial a connection'and wont be changed
Internet Explorer Problem. It was an Add-Ons problem but I can't seem to fix it.When I am in the original window of Internet Explorer and I click on a link that opens a new window. When I want to close the new window it will close down all of Internet Explorer and leave a Blank Page. Then it will want to report the error. It did not used to do this. It seemed to have started happening about the time I upgrade IE and they started the new tabs. I work online and I need it to stay open. I also need to be able to close those extra windows so i don't have to many piling up. It is really bogging down my work.
I have reset IE, changed setting and my IE will only open one window and not allow me to go back. Every time I try to open another IE window the original window becomes the new one. I don't have any virus or spyware, I have checked for all that.
Internet explorer default pages for events such as navigation canceled, navigation failed, offline information, and blank page are stored in the registry. You can replace these pages with your own if you would like to customize Internet Explorer. Start regedit, if you are unfamiliar with regedit please see our FAQ. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftInternet ExplorerAboutURLs Modify the key values to the full path on the hard drive. C:page.htm
When I start IE6 it just hangs on a white screen. I have SP2 and I've removed and reinstalled IE6 a couple of times but it doesn't help. When I launch IE it just hangs attempting to load my homepage (google) but I can press stop and access Options etc.. Firefox and all my other programs that access the internet are working fine but I need IE working too.I can't even access my router control panel via IE which makes me think this is a IE networking configuration problem. I've tried flushing dns but that didn't help.
I have a pc thats running XP home edition and I have set it up so that I am the admin and my two young children have limited user accounts, however when I set the kids accounts to limited the internet connection is cut off but if I put them back to admin all is fine! any ideas what I can do?
I have XP Home Ed sp-2. I'm able to setup several limited accounts on this machine. My question is how to setup an account that the user can not be able to access to internet using IE 6. This user is able to logon the computer himself. I only understand that with Comcast High Speed Internet, since a user logon computer he can go straigth to internet.
I'm trying to use Group Policy to restrict the internet access for a certain user account. I have an OU set up with that user account in that OU. I want the user to only be able to access the websites that I approve.
I recently installed Win XP Professional and have a question about User accounts. My computer is a standalone PC with 5 users. No network. I connect to the internet using dialup. I have a lot of older software, and games too, and I read see over and over that you have to have administrator privileges to run them. From messing around in Linux in the past, I know that it can be a bad thing for everyone to be logged in on administrator accounts. Even the XP help files say that you should only log in as administrator when you absolutely have to. My problem is that the "Limited" account is too limited, and the "Administrator" account is too open.
I have created a second account for me (a limited on) in order not to use the lapton under the admin account. However, after I log-in to the limited, I can't connect to the internet. When I go the Network area in order to try and connect or set uo the connection to the Internet by setting up the connection I get a message saying that I do not have the right to change the settings. Where do I go in the admin account in odrer to set the connection to the Internet for the limited account?
I've recently setup a limited user account on a XPSP2 Home machine. The intent is to use it for internet and email. When I switch to this account, and try to setup, say, my email client, the configuration or settings do not stick. On a couple other apps too, when I click on them to start them, it's as if it's the first time they are being executed. I enter the info, apply or save, and when I shut the app and come back into it, the same thing happens. For instance; in the email client, each time I go in, the setup wizard starts and asks for my pop3 and smtp etc..I enter it, save, shut the app, come back in and the wizard starts again, asking for the same things.
I wanted to protect my documents on my laptop with a password, and I used ''the easy way'' of protecting it from within my XP user account (I used the built in documents password protection, found in the account mangement menu in the control panel). everything was fine until I've restarted the computer. I got (and still getting) the following message: ''The system could not log you on.
We have 4 users on this XP computer.. We can access internet explorer from all but 1 user account. This is my sons account, He does also use Firefox but needs explorer for some programs The same thing happens with MSN, it is accessible form all users except my sons

I use Google as my home page and lately I been having intermittent problems with it. When I open my internet explorer, it says "Internet Explorer cannot display page". It's not my internet connect because if I type in an address other than my home page in the URL bar it will open. My AOL works too. After hitting the home button a few times, my home page, Google will open. But after awhile surfing the net, when I hit the home button, I get that message again that it can't display page. Right now as I type this, I hit the home page button and it says cannot display page so I hit the back arrow and I come back to this page and I can continue typing and I can send this thread. What's wrong with my home page "Google"?
After reboot, on I.E. I keep getting the following error message:"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" but if I go to address bar, & select my Home page, it WILL display. This does NOT happen on Firefox??

Basically, when an internet explorer window is minimised, so you just have the tab for it along the bottom of the screen, i want to know if there is a way to not show the name of the page you are viewing.
I am running XP Pro on a Dell Latitude D620. I have just started to get the following error message Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. I have tried the usual stuff it won't display any page.
I have been trying for several days, I just keep getting this message: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage Most likely causes: You are not connected to the Internet. The website is encountering problems. There might be a typing error in the address.

The wierd thing is, I can get google earth to work, I can sign into yahoo messenger, but I can't open IE because it says "page cannot be displayed. Ive tried everything from configuring my network, unplugging the cable modem for a minute then plugging it back in, I scanned my comp for viruses, nothing is working and I cant figure out the problem, the internet connections says im connected to the internet too
System is Insignia D400 2.8ghz 512 mb ram, 256 mb ATI Radeon 9250 graphics card, IE7 the current browser.I am able to view everything on my user log in, but when my wife logs in, her IE freezes.Doesn't even bring up a home page. Can click on anything, but just freezes until it's logged off.I ran Spybot and AdAware and AVG, made the fixes, and it still didn't help her side. After saving her favorites and mine,I tried uninstalling IE,then removing the components, rebooting and starting from scratch, I thought...but her side is still frozen.
Both Firefox and Internet Explorer are not displaying correctly. Background images do not appear at all, and some foreground images simply do not load - they don't appear at all, even as an indication that loading the image has failed. Oddly, though, there's still a blank space the size of the picture in most cases. However, there's no way to select the picture or the area where the picture would be.
some sites with style-related features do not display correctly - web-based email and forums with borders, for example (Gmail is for all intents and purposes in black and white). Internet Explorer takes the problem a step further - it increases the text size to ludicrous proportions, so that even a small chunk of text takes up several pages. I have also noticed a similar problem in semi-online programs - using McAfee VirusScan, for example (which updates through a web service) results in text that is simply too large to fit into the window, rendering the program unusable.
I'm trying to download LIve Messenger 8.1 and keep getting this error: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage Most likely causes:You are not connected to the Internet. The website is encountering problems. might be a typing error in the address
Is there any way that I can have my laptop, when powering up, automatically launch Internet Explorer and display the Home Page of my website on CD or from the Hard Drive?
One of my user account for window xp proffesional is missing.Orginally i had one user account and then i decided to make another one. When I was making the second one I had to choose adminstrative powers because it said that I didn't had any other accounts with adminstrative powers. Then after i restarted my original account was missing and I was like wtf! My files are all gone now.The original account name was Administrator. I still have the files for it in my C:Documents and Settings Administrator So how do I get it back?
Windows XP Home SP2 in a Gateway Performer 1300 P4 I recently purchased a used computer locally from a private party. It seemed to work fine. Once I got it home, however, I discovered that when I tried to install the drivers for my wireless adapter, the InstallShield Wizard would come up and extract the files from the CD and then go away and nothing would happen. When I went to the Windows update site, it would not down load the activeX control to check my computer for needed updates. It did the same thing. It would show that it downloaded the file and then nothing would happen. I talked to a local computer shop and they said they have had a lot of trouble with "broken" Windows Installers lately. So I went to the Microsoft site and downloaded the updated Windows Installer (as they suggested) and this did not change anything.
