BIOS Starts To Load After That Black Screen Appears
Feb 6, 2009
A few weeks ago it started freezing and restarting randomly. Sometimes, on restarting, I would get the "Serious error" pop-up, which I always sent, and always got different results. Sometimes it would say it was an unknown driver error, sometimes an anti-virus error, once a RAM error. I had just upgraded the RAM when this started, so I ran the M$ testing tool several times, no errors. I also removed the new RAM, which didn't solve the problem, and put it back in
i get this error when i tried to open up my computer, first the windows xp loading screen works fine, then after that the screen just goes black and stays like that forever. this happened when i tried to uninstall a USB Bluetooth driver and it was requested to restart my pc so i did, and after that restart i cant get in no more, the screen just goes black after the windows xp load screen. im wondering how can i fix this problem? please help me guys... thank you.. and o yeah one more thing.. when i tried it on safe mode it went to the welcome screen but after that when i try to move my cursor i didnt move at all then i restart my pc again and the whole thing happens once more
When I turn on my computer, it does the bios check, then goes into the bios screen on its own. I have checked all of the bios settings, and see nothing set wrong. The only way I can get itno my xp pro system, is to use "F8" during the bios check, the select my hd from there, then it seems only half of my programs work, and it also seems to be randomly changing the programs that do not work, when I do this.
I was having some problems with windows xp media centre 2005 on my dell dimension 9150 so i decided to do a repair, i put in the xp cd and booted from it at start up, then the blue screen appears and the process starts, i then get the choice to install windows or repair using the recovery console, i chose install windows and then pressed r for repair on the os that was already there. It now has gone to the installation off the os where it installs the files and finalizes the process, it is getting to the third option where it installs devices but it is getting about three quarters of the way and then the driver box pops up saying that microsoft does not athorize the use of the driver would you like to continue but the thing is i cant, my mouse will not move on the screen so i am unable to click continue.
every time i finish playing a game and exit out of it to return to windows. all i get is a black screen with my mouse curser, everything is still there i just carnt see anything. to fix this everytime i just push the windows button on the universal remote to media center, it starts up i exit out of it then everything is normal. just a little anoying having to do this after every game i play.
I installed xp pro with slipstreamed SP2. I thought everything was going fine but just a split-second after I see the desktop, the screen goes black.Athlon XP 1600, ECS Elite K7AMA3 KT266A, Sapphire Radeon 9250 128DDR.
My computer was having some issues so I manually re-installed windows media center edition on my Dell 9300 laptop using the disks Dell provides ( run on sentence). Formatted and re-intalled everything went great. Added all software-everything great. However during the install it asked where to load the new operating system there were 3 or 4 places to load, screen said to load to biggest partition. I did. Why are there so many partitions and are they needed? Do they take up space? Also now when the system reboots a black screen shows up and says which operating system do you want to load, they are both the same I leave it at the top one and windows loads with no problems. How do I either get rid of this bogus operating system or diable this page from coming up?
My notebook starts acting like this (just black screen appears after window logo on startup) durning these days. Whenever this happens, i restart it and it asks me to choose Safe Mode, Safe Mode with command prompts, start window normally, etc. I choose start window normally . It was ok evey time i restart till yesterday. When i restart it as usual and choose "start windown normally" today, nth appears but just black screen after window logo. What's the problem. If i have to choose Safe Mode, after choosing it wat should i do?
I have a friend who is using windows xp.When they boot the computer up.They encounter a black screen with some wording. He tells me that the wording is to do with ms dos. Then the screen goes black, with just the cusor showing in the top hand left corner. I have an idea of what the problem is,and think that someone has gone into his settings and asked the machine to boot up in dos.
I have Microsoft Windows XP and once I turn it on it appears as it is restarting but as soon as it starts up after the black screen that says Microsoft Windows XP the screen goes black and says monitor going to sleep and then it restarts over and over and over!
So My roommate's computer just decided to up and die on us today. She's been running XP all along, and then today she woke up, tried to start it up, and it just stopped working. The PC starts, goes to the black startup screen where I can hit del. to enter setup then to another black screen that cycles through the list and the last thing is says is 'verifying dmi pool data' Then the little white bar scrolls across the bottom from left to right Then the Windows screen comes up and the little blue progress dots cycle through
Yesterday while surfing on my mother's laptop all of a sudden it just froze. I just turned it off because after hitting control/alt/delete nothing happened. I was stuck. Then I restarted the laptop - the windows logo came on along with sound and then it went to a black screen with just a blinking cursor at the upper top left. It will not take me to her desktop.
This morning I was on the internet on my Gateway MP8708 notebook when internet explorer started acting weird. It sounded like it was constantly trying to reload a page over and over. So I closed IE and upon trying to reopen it would immediately shut down (Firefox wouldnt even open at this point). I did some searches around the net and after running Malwarebytes anti malware and removing a few items, IE still wouldnt stay open. I found a posting on the net saying that if you go into Internet Options and uncheck "enable third party browser extensions", which I did. IE seemed to stay open after this but would not load the home page. Also my PC seemed a bit laggy, so I did a restart. This is where the system took a dump. It loads up past the bios screen, and the windows obligatory splash screen then just loads to a black screen with the mouse cursor and stays that way. I tried booting in safe mode (with command prompt, with networking, and without) all I get is the safe mode information on the top and bottom of the black screen, along with the cursor, but nothing else. Tried last good configuration, but still a no go. It seems to me that windows was somehow corrupted by whatever infected me
Just switched of pc,Switched it back on and I get a page with, safe mode etc and to choose a setting.Which ever setting I pick the computer goes to the widows xp window then goes back to the black screen then to the xp startup screen again. It does this all the time.It was all working well until switching off.I am on laptop now as unable to access pc.
I have got a HP Laptop that is about a year a half old, its top of the range. I had my laptop in Hibernate mode the other night and the next afternoon I went to turn it back on there was a blank screen for a long time, all the lights on the laptop were on but nothing on the screen. I turned the laptop off and then back on again. and BOOM! The blue screen of death! The computer starts up with the HP logo and then it pops up a screen saying that a previous attempt to start up had failed and it gave me options to start up in safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt, start with the previous successfull start config, and normal start up. When i click ANY of these the windows logo pops up for about 3 seconds and then the blue screen, which appears for long enough for me to read 3 letters or numbers at a time. Then the computer restarts and we go through the whole process again. This is what I have done in the hope of fixing it.
I used my HP retore disks and it loaded disk 1 of 3 and it didnt ask for the other 2 disks which i thought was odd. But that made no differeance still the same start up process as explained above. The blue screen made mention of chkdsk and i read about some poeple on the net doing a chkdsk and it fixing similar problems. So i read that i needed a xp install disk to access the windows recovery console and type r. BUT i have a OEM installation so i have NO disks! So what i did was i got the XP Pro disk i have from a few years ago that i had on Desktop. BUT when it goes into recovery console it can not find any hard drives! #Ive tried spinrite and it reads all the hard drives in the computer so i know that they are still there. #I've tried to find some chkdsk bootable cd's but most are either floppy only or they only for FAT16/32 file systems, my file system is NTFS.I'am convinced from the research done that if I can run CHKDSK on the computer then it should fix the file error and then i can at least back up my data and then do a full format and start fresh again. But I have to be able to get this computer running.I just tried the "Last Known Good Configuration" selection and it says that the system32/config/SYSTEM file is missing.I would welcome any help, as I have exhausted all options that I can see available to me. From what I can see, the biggest problem is that im running a OEM version of windows. But then again the recovery console couldnt find the hard drives, so i dont know.
Well i am trying to install a fresh copy of XP and the CD is bootable and the CD drives all work ok, i have tried 3 different CD Drives but when i goto start the boot sequence i get an message saying:
Searching boot device No emulation
Press any key to boot from CDrom....
I press a key and the cd drive starts off but the screen stays black and does not do anything.
I have never seen the message No Emulation under searching boot device before
My computer has given me problems from day 1. Currently, it fails to recognize my E drive. When rebooting, a black screen appears that says "Secondary drive 1 not found." When restring to an earlier date, a screen says that the E drive cannot be restored because it is either turned off or disabled. The harddrive light which usaully flickers when the computer is working now stays on all the time.
I have this strange problem:I can't see my Bios loading .The screen is totaly black untill the windows' welcome screen , and then everything is back to normal. It happened when I updated my motherboard Bios (Gigabyte GA-8N-SLI ,Rev. 1.0) through the original vendor's Website
I'm using a notebook and I just hibernate my computer, so I decided to finally give it a restart. The restart when fine, I saw the boot screen it was booting, I could of aborted the chkdsk but I decided to let it run. After it ran, the computer restarted and the computer hangs after the bios screen. F8 --> Safe Mode, Last known good config and all those nice things didn't work. I even booted into recovery mode, tried chkdsk /p fixboot fixmbr, none of that worked. Anyways, right now I booted into the XP CD clicked enter, clicked REPAIR and it's just reinstalling over I guess? I've never clicked repair before so I don't know how this is going to work
I had put my pc off with the on/off button, because I was in a hurry. Later when I tried to open it, it shows the BIOS screen and than nothing happens it just turns black and thats it. And it goes off when I put my finger slowly on the on/off button.
Recently XP Pro has been taking ages to boot up. The system post screens come up and the windows loading bar shows no problem but then before the windows welcome screen appears followed by the desktop i get a black screen for approx 30 - 60 seconds.Once the desktop has finally loaded the pc works absolutely as normal I have not installed any new hardware or software recently.I cannot hear any drive activity during the black screen
I know most people dont like dells but i have one. I have a dell dimension 8300 with P4 3.0, 1.5 gig ram, 120 gb hard drive, and 6800xt graphics card. I downloaded speed fan program just to see what it was like and it stopped responding. so i waited for it to "end now" and it wouldnt. i got impatient and shut the computer off manually with the button. i went to go turn it back on and the bios screen would load then the windows xp screen comes up with the scrolling blue bar. after that it goes to a black screen with no error messeges and no cursor.
Ive done a fair amount of searching online and tried a number of things myself, needless to say, they didnt work.Ok, so here's the issue; When I go to turn on my computer, I make it to the XP splash screen with the 3 blue bubbles moving left to right... But nothing from there.Additionally, between the BIOS screen and the XP splash screen, theres some weird black screen with what looks like a long barcode-esq bar, where a solid white line fills the gaps moving left to right...
whenever i start my dell laptop inspiron 6000 after the dell load a black screen appears with a white loading bar appears which loads for about 10 minutes and then the windows xp proffesional sp2 loads i had recently reinstalled windows from a cd can you please tell me how to get rid of this black loading screen
I have windows xp professional sp2, I uninstalled Symantec Antivirus then rebooted computer. Went through bios load screen then came a black screen (no hard drive activity or nothing) and stays black with no hard drive activity or anything for about 5 minutes. After the 5 minutes I get the Windows XP loading screen then boots as normal.
Prior to me uninstalling symantec it went straight from bios screens to windows xp loading screen almost immediately. The reason I uninstalled antivirus was I wanted to try a different antivirus
I had a copy of windows xp home addition i think. I have a copy of Professional i was going to put on the computer. It was doing the normal load that i have seen window do before when loading on other computers. Then it came to a blue screen that said something to the affect of Windows startup is installing. It used to go to the loading screen then shut itself off and start again. I went to bios trying to figure out why it doesn't load. Now after the blue screen saying it is restarting setup it now goes to a black screen with a blinking cursor that i can move.

I just replaced my power supply because after coming back from vacation my PC wouldn't boot. The new supply power works but I get to the XP load scree with the little progress bar and it just hangs there. I restored to last know good point and that did nothing and I did a system restore and neither seemed to help. I am able to start in safe mode but I'm not sure where to turn and I'm not sure what happened while I was gone
