start computer, I hear the System Notification Sound on my computer. I have watched the system tray area several times hoping to see what is causing the sound but haven't seen a screen message. I have googled and searched Microsoft, but can't find a list of items that would cause a System Notification sound to be heard.
Can anyone point me in the direction or web page?
I have a 5 year old Dell Inspiron 5150 laptop equiped with XP Professional. Attached to it is a small Cambridge Soundworks speaker system that has worked perfectly until now... Suddenly no more audio from this system, except for the computer inside speakers that is working just fine. I have checked all the connections (speakers and woofer). I have been doing a lot of "cleaning" lately - due to the fact that my computer has been very slow... I used CCleaner, WinUtilities and Premium Booster. My anti virus is AVG.

I get this error message just randomly whenever I'm on the computer or not: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v149/spiralout987/error-msg.jpg. I don't know what it is, what it's for, what's wrong with it, etc. Anyone have any idea where I can get more information as to what this error means? And what program is asking for the file that can't be found? Please help! I don't want to reformat my computer to get rid of this message.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI can't get any sound to play when new Outlook Express email arrives. I use XP Media Center 2005. There is a sound icon in front of, New Mail Notification, & the Chimes sound (which I chose) does play when I press the test button to the left of Browse. BUT, it does NOT play when new mail arrives and Outlook Express is open or minimized. All other program default sounds do play. Also, with Outlook Express open, I clicked on Tools, Options, General, and there IS a check mark in front of, Play Sound When New Message Arrives.Is there something else that I should do to make the Chimes sound play when new email arrives?

windows boots normally although no text is visible on any icon titles, menu bars, or notification message texts. Any Ideas? Thanks.

A new update for WGA is now on the Windows Update website as a mandatory update. Once installed, your copy of Windows will be checked for validity.
If your Windows installation is found not to be genuine, Windows will display a message telling you that “This copy of Windows is not genuine.” Windows will check and display messages on every boot as well as once an hour (or so). The new WGA tool also puts an icon in your system tray if your copy of Windows is not genuine.
Amd xp 2700. Get's to the windows screen then reboots. Get an error message that just flashes by fast before reboot. Says something about not enough virtual memory. tried chkdsk fixboot and fixmbr. maybe i've managed to mess it up enough for a reload.

It also shows Windows Virtual Memory Minimum too low your system is low on virtual memory, Windows is increasing the size of your virtual memory paging file, during this process, memory requests for some applications may be denied. I also tried to install Microsoft Office Word 12, it came up there is not enough memory on your disc space to run Word. I got fed up and was going to delete some old Microsoft Updates but instead deleted as many temporary files I could and cookies as well.

It is telling me: the file "asms" on windows xp home edition service pack 2 cd is needed. Type the path where the file is located and then click okay.I enter d: ( my cd drive) and nothing. it says: globalrootdevice cdromoi386 in the path line. nothing. Now when I try to re-open them for revisal, or even just to look at them, I get a msg in a small window that says "Works task launcher cannot open the file you selected. It may have been either moved or deleted." If I can't get to some of these, I will lose my job! And I don't even know where to go for help, this is the first place i've tried. Last few days when trying to shut down I'm getting an error message "Device 10 Notification" with the option to cancel or end task. View 4 Replies View RelatedOn bootup I receive the error message "Critical Status-the Raid 1 array needes to be duplicated to ensure data consistancy." When I try and "Duplicate Now" it starts and then I receive another error, "Duplicating error!! The array is not functional."If I ignore the error message and continue to boot the system (XP Pro) it cotinues to boot normally. This happens every time.My question is: Should I try on bootup to remove the Raid array and then reinstall the array to clear the problem and in doing so, would I lose or cause harm to my hard drive(s) data?
