Reader Connect To System Shows Verifying DMI Pool Data
Aug 22, 2005
A USB 2.0 Lexar Card Reader and when the card reader is connected to my computer before booting up, I get this: USB Storage Device: Lexar Media Inc. PCI device listing, Verifying DMI Pool Data, Boot from CD. But when this card reader is disconnected before booting my computer, the computer boots up normally. I would like to know why I have to disconnect this card reader everytime I want to boot up the computer.

"Verifying DMI Pool Data ... Disk Boot Failure, Insert System Disk and Press Enter". It is or was running on Windows XP. It was fine one day and the next it just gave me this message. Restarting it did nothing. When I press enter it just tells me "Disk boot Failure, Insert Disk and Press Enter". Aside from that it doesn't let me do anything. I can't run it in safe mode or do anything at all. I'm not sure if it might be a virus or if something else is affecting it.

After several hardware failures I installed windows.
But it wont boot, it stops at "Verifying DMI Pool Data"
I've tried a lot of things including:
Reinstall windows- didn't work
Reset the CMOS- Didn't work, but this time it says Verifying DMI Pool Data......Update Success then nothing.
Tried only one ram stick (I have 4 gigs)- got the update success thing again
Checked boot settings and checked drive settings- everything was right.

Ok, here is the situation, I want to know is there a way to repair or reinstall windows like this http://forums.techguy.org/windows-nt...l-windows.html Instead of booting with a XP Installation CD just putting in the cd and installing? Would a upgrade work? I use NTFS... The reason why I want to not boot with the CD is because I keep getting Verifying DMI Pool Data but instead of it sitting there forever like that, like most people, it shows the options like boot with safe mode or normal or safe mode with command prompt.

In XP machines, Microsoft's own software contained 42 percent of the vulnerabilities attacked, while 58 percent were in third party software. For Vista machines, Microsoft's software had 6 percent of the vulnerabilities attacked, with third-party software containing 94 percent of the flaws.http://www.pcworld.com/article/153 [...] =nl_dnxnws. They should do a 64-bit focused study.I wonder what that would look like.

I have XP Home version and have had some unusual issue wth System Restore. When I bring up utilities for system restore, it shows drive I as the system drive instead of drive C.I can sort of understand why this might happen because I installed a new 200 gig drive 5 months ago and made my old C drive I. My system tells me that C is my boot drive and I am not having any real problems except with restore. Looks like something is wrong in restor's database.

I have a sony CRX220E1 CD-RW installed. It has worked well, but now "My Computer" shows it only as a CD, but Device manager shows it as a CD-RW and says it is working normally. User software does not now recognize it as a CD-RW.

We've got a problem with a computer running Windows XP.the bad_pool_caller problem is popping up all the time. The machine goes through all the start up, the ram is ok, it starts loading Windows, seems to stumble, then the blue screen pops up the error code varies but basically it is :stop: 0x000000c2 (0x00000043, 0xD4 58A888, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)the code starting with 0xD seems to vary with new re-boots.We try to go into safe mode, but it won't let us.We haven't loaded any new hardware in ages, and the only new software we put on was Firefox.

Windows XP Pro Problem began today.farlier today, the PC had booted to a disk reading error, using HDD #1, see below.I put in HDD #2 & life was good. When I had a chance to work on the problem [ disk reading error ] the BSOD & "bad_pool_data" error appeared.0x000000C2 [ 0x00000043, 0xDAE3E000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000 ]I have read http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314492/EN-US/ .The solution described is "Greek to me".The same problem appeared on HDD #2, so I thought I had bad ram.
I tested the ram; swapped it out AND ran diags.

This error comes up no matter how I try to boot my Computer.Disable or uninstall any anti viruse, disk defragmanation or backup utilities... Then it goes on like that, and the technical information: STOP: 0x00000024 (0x001902FE 0xF7CDE6DC 0xF7CDE3D8 0xF731BF81) It started happening after I ran the new AVG Free 8.0 virus scanner. So maybe that's the problem? So far I haven't been able to even run in safe mode to disable it.

The other day I tried to open yahoo messenger but it wouldn't open. So I restarted my comuter. As it was shutting off, a box popped up real fast right before it shut off. There was no way I coulda read what it said, it shut off too fast........When my computer came back on, a box popped up that said 'this computer does not have an internet connection' or something and had options to install it. So I ignored it and tested my internet connection and it still worked.Next, I realized that my sygate firewall and norton antivirus weren't in the system tray Then I got a box pop up that said my HP office jet printer encountered a problem and had to be shut down or something. My printer wasn't even on.

Reformatting a pc of mine to give to my sister. Her old computer had some info on its hard drive that she needed. It was too big to fit on a floppy and the CDROM had died so I took her old drive and hooked it up in the newer pc. The problem is: it shows up in System Devices but not in Windows Explorer. I tried right clicking on My Computer and then Manage to assign a drive letter to it, but it wont allow me. The option for assigning a drive letter isnt even available for that hard drive.

Continually getting the message that my virtual memory is low. Often my computer just locks up. I doubled the memory allocation, but it made no difference. I have Mcafee's virus scan running all of the time and I leave on the machine always. After I reboot it may take hours for it to happen again but it always happens. I saw something similar on another thread about removing programs from the startup file, but I was unable to find the msconfig file.

My computer has recently started saying "acquiring network address" and has not been able to connect to the internet. My toolbar has also reverted to what looks like an older version. I run on xp and I have internet explorer 7. I have run virus scans and stuff already. I have also done some research, but most explanations for my problem are full of techno-lingo. However, I have tried running ipconfig but that hasn't worked. If anyone could offer some step by step instructions, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm not that good with computers but I know some stuff. Oh yeah my connection is wired (however you say 'not wireless').

When I try to boot my computer reaches the windows screen then restarts, and keeps repeating this. Sometimes it throws up a bad pool caller error and a bsod. It gives me a Stop code: 0xc2 (0x43, 0xc3af4000, 0x0, 0x0) Additionally my keyboard no longer works, at least during startup which is all I can access. True for both USB and ps2 keyboard. The numlock light can be turned on but that's about it. So I know the connection is working but the boards still don't work, which means I've been unable to get to safe mode or into bios settings.
