A USB 2.0 Lexar Card Reader and when the card reader is connected to my computer before booting up, I get this: USB Storage Device: Lexar Media Inc. PCI device listing, Verifying DMI Pool Data, Boot from CD. But when this card reader is disconnected before booting my computer, the computer boots up normally. I would like to know why I have to disconnect this card reader everytime I want to boot up the computer.
im installing xp on my uncles computer, right now...pluged everything in but i forgot the keyboard i plugged in was dead,so i restarted with working keyboard and now its stuck....on.... "Verifying DMI pool data........." and not doing anything..
"Verifying DMI Pool Data ... Disk Boot Failure, Insert System Disk and Press Enter". It is or was running on Windows XP. It was fine one day and the next it just gave me this message. Restarting it did nothing. When I press enter it just tells me "Disk boot Failure, Insert Disk and Press Enter". Aside from that it doesn't let me do anything. I can't run it in safe mode or do anything at all. I'm not sure if it might be a virus or if something else is affecting it.
Verifing DMI Pool Data.BOOT DISK FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER I am getting this error right after Verifing DMI Pool Data........message. When I insert XP Install disk and press enter I can get to the recovery console but not sure of what switches to run to bring my XP windows back.
Ok, here is the situation, I want to know is there a way to repair or reinstall windows like this http://forums.techguy.org/windows-nt...l-windows.html Instead of booting with a XP Installation CD just putting in the cd and installing? Would a upgrade work? I use NTFS... The reason why I want to not boot with the CD is because I keep getting Verifying DMI Pool Data but instead of it sitting there forever like that, like most people, it shows the options like boot with safe mode or normal or safe mode with command prompt.
When I try to boot my computer reaches the windows screen then restarts, and keeps repeating this. Sometimes it throws up a bad pool caller error and a bsod. It gives me a Stop code: 0xc2 (0x43, 0xc3af4000, 0x0, 0x0) Additionally my keyboard no longer works, at least during startup which is all I can access. True for both USB and ps2 keyboard. The numlock light can be turned on but that's about it. So I know the connection is working but the boards still don't work, which means I've been unable to get to safe mode or into bios settings.
This computer has begun to need re-booting many times per day. There are numerous problems commencing with startup, so I'll begin there.I run Ad-aware 6, Spybot S&D and HijackThis frequently in order to try to prevent intrusions, but something seems to have failed!Upon startup, there is (recently) always a ZoneAlarm message saying that "explorer.exe is trying to access the internet" Although I have clicked the box for my (Deny) response to be remembered, the message has appeared at each startup for the last month or so, and I'm tired of that.Likewise, ZoneAlarm asks for permission to allow Firefox to access the internet shows up each time I start that even though I've told ZA to remember it.
i have had my computer for about a week and a half and it has XP. i bought a wireless USB card thing and it was screwing up my computer a bit in the early going. now, when i turn on my computer it comes to the screen to selet safemode and stuff but i cant get it to boot at all, it trys but stops on some file that ends with mup.sys. anyone have a clue how i can fix it through DOS or anything at all? the system recovery discs that came with my computer are pure crap. they have an error on the second screen of the process and then restart my computer
I'm getting quite annoyed at the problems that I think Explorer is causing.Things generally run fine until I open Explorer if I need to copy files etc. Most times, but not all the time, it will stop repsonding and i need to end the task in task manager. The rest of the system works without problem.I have attached a Hijack This log file. Even when the log file opened (txt format) it stopped resoponding and I had to use Task Manager to close the log file.
I was playing a game as I normal and the pc hanged momentarily (made a buzzing noise and the screen froze) then the pc restarted itself. As it restarted, it rebooted 2 times after seeing the bluescreem. NOW, when I turn the pc on, it comes to the advanced windows startup menu (safemode, previous setting etc), I press enter on any of the options and the pc just hangs there. It just freezes from the moment I press enter, the keyboard stops working aswell. I checked the hardware when it happens, the fans are still working. The only thing is, the red light in the front stops blinking. But overall, it seems like the system just turned itself off internally or something.
I have a gigaware 4 port usb 2.0 high speed hub.I used it to plug 4 joysticks in my computer, its been working for a year.all of a sudden today it just stops working.i tried unplugging it and replugging it back in and i keep getting an error message saying "USB Device not Recognized" Is there anyway I can fix this problem?if i plug the logitech joystick into the usb port it works with no problem. I have windows xp.i tried restarting the computer but it doesn't work.
my names Neil and I'm from Washington state, Ive had problems trying to install xp pro on my computer. Let's see so far ive tried everything from different hard drives to taking out all hardware not needed. I've even went online and downloaded killdisk to reformat my drives so that they are completely reformatted. Let's see...every time I try to install xp pro this is what i do. First I go into the bios and redirect the the cd to main boot then my hard drive then my floppy, in that order. I reboot my computer with the xp disc in the drive. Following that I create a new partition and begin the install, it installs all of the files it needs to run xp setup, then it comes to the screen that says it has to reboot, it does and then it comes to "hit any button to boot from cd" I dont hit anything. It continues to the next screen, the loading xp screen, and it always stops loading there and freezes. If someone can help that would be great! Itz driving me crazy, and I really really want to fix this pc myself, instead of bringing it to a comp shop.
My laptop keyboard has a strange problem. If the computer sits idle for a couple of hours, the keyboard stops working normally. I can't type any text; however, the keys will respond as shortcut keys. For example, if I open Word and type F, the file menu will appear. My built in touch pad also will not function normally. If I double click on an icon, it brings up the properties screen for that item. When I restart my computer, I am not able to type into the logon screen at all with my keyboard.
I have attached a USB keyboard to my laptop, but I still can't type right away. The only thing that works is for my to restart my computer two or three times, they press CLT-ALT-DEL on my USB keyboard. Most of the time after a couple of tries,I can type into this secondary logon screen with the USB keyboard. Once Windows is open, my regular laptop keyboard works fine again. This is until I leave it idle for a while.
I'm currently on my room mates computer. I have XP SP2 installed on my computer. I installed a new driver for my monitor today. I rebooted and after the bios and everything loaded like normal, instead of getting the windows XP startup screen I got this: "Windows could not start because file is missing or corrupt system32configsystem" Now for problem #2...when I start the recovery console off the XP cd...or even try to REINSTALL XP I get the following BSOD:so I can't run the recovery console, and I can't reinstall windows and I can't START windows.
We've got a problem with a computer running Windows XP.the bad_pool_caller problem is popping up all the time. The machine goes through all the start up, the ram is ok, it starts loading Windows, seems to stumble, then the blue screen pops up the error code varies but basically it is :stop: 0x000000c2 (0x00000043, 0xD4 58A888, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)the code starting with 0xD seems to vary with new re-boots.We try to go into safe mode, but it won't let us.We haven't loaded any new hardware in ages, and the only new software we put on was Firefox.
Windows XP Pro Problem began today.farlier today, the PC had booted to a disk reading error, using HDD #1, see below.I put in HDD #2 & life was good. When I had a chance to work on the problem [ disk reading error ] the BSOD & "bad_pool_data" error appeared.0x000000C2 [ 0x00000043, 0xDAE3E000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000 ]I have read http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314492/EN-US/ .The solution described is "Greek to me".The same problem appeared on HDD #2, so I thought I had bad ram. I tested the ram; swapped it out AND ran diags.
After using the net for a couple of minutes i get the dreaded bsod with a message bad pool header and it only happens when i open the browser. I went into Safe mode address the matter and windows informed me it has installed or reinstalled certain drivers .Now the problem is less frequent but has not gone. I have done some benchmark tests with everest but they seem ok. I am using a desktop dell 4600 with 2gb ram and os windows xp sp3.
I'm getting a blue screen of death with "Bad Pool Caller"Currently using safe mode with networking I have not installed any drives/hard drives/anything lately

A friend of mine has recently bought a new computer with Windows XP Home. Her old computer is a Window 98. She wants to transfer some files from her old one to the new one. I know that the Windows XP has a Files and Settings Transfer Wizard, but though I've done a search for that on the Microsoft site, I've not found any real information about the process. It does mention how to use floppies or other removable storage, but can this be done with USB cable, or something? If so, how would I hook it up? Will I see an option to choose to use a USB cable for the transfer in the Wizard? From the information I found, it does not even mention using a USB, but I find it hard to believe that one could NOT.
1.I want to transfer data from my old Compaq to my new HP, is this called mitigation? O/S's - Windows XP Home Edition - Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
2. The connection will be by USB 2.0, cable.
3. Is there a way to select some programs and not others or is everything transferred?
4. I know certain information has to be written to the registry, like when a new program is installed, how do I transfer those settings from the old to the new?
I'm new to this forum and new to what I'm trying to do. I need to know how to copy a program from one xp computer to another. The program has customer info in it.How do I transfer all the data from one computer to another without losing any information? I'm a beginner, so please explain in "English".
I got the blue screen of death on my Gateway laptop. I tried every option such as booting to safe mode, last good configuration...etc to get windows to boot but no luck...once I get the windows xp logo it changes to blue death screen.I purchased a laptop hard drive enclosure and pluged the laptop hard drive into it. Next I attached the hard drive enclosure via USB to my desktop but good not read the data on the hard drive. The laptop has a Recovery Partition and Operating System Partition. I am able to both partitions as drive letter "f" and "g" for example, with drive "f" being the Recovery partition and drive "g" the operating system. When I click on the drive "g" the system locks up and I have to unplug the hard drive enclosure and start over again with no luck.
please help me understand how to transfer my files/programs, etc. from my current Sony win. 98 with USB port but no CD burner, to a Dell win XP (yet to be delivered).i'd like to take as much as i can from my current machine into the new machine when it arrives.
I'm sure this has been covered many times, but I'm new to this NG and I just got a new computer with XP on it. The thought of transferring data from my old Personal Computer with SE to XP seems daunting. I thought I could hook up my old HD with a USB 2 external enclosure and transfer data that way. Would that work?
with some of the smaller and more *necesary* programs operating from drive c (internal), my drive usage runs at about 60% used. Somehow however, I'll be typing away, and a message comes up saying I have low drive space. In the space of a few seconds my drive goes from 60%-ish to 100% full! I search, check ALL folders but NOTHING I can see is new/downloaded/self-created.
Is this rapid and unfortunately very - daily - regular rise and fall by over 8gig normal? Usually I have to run ALL my bug/spyware/system doctor/windows doctor type software before it goes away, but then sometimes it just goes away by its'self with no input from me at all. Please tell me that this is something easily sorted, because when usingn space hungry prog's like p/shop or audition it stops me from saving/changing doc's and simply allows me all in all to do sweet FA until IT clears it's own mind up as to how big it is! Is this an XP issue
I am losing only picture and video files my computer. I save a file off the internet it usually lasts a few days on my hard drive and then disappears. I have used windows 98 and currently use 2000 and have the same problem. I have tried an external hard drive and saved the file and then disconnected the USB cable and the same thing happens next time i connect it. I have formatted hard drive a couple of times and problem reoccurred both times.
