View 7 RepliesNo one, even Compaq, can figure this problem out. Most times this happens when I am opening IEXPLORER or sometimes it just seems to happen after it's open. I will attempt to open IEXPLORER and my mouse will hang (stop responding) for about a second, then jump back into action. Say like opening up the web browser, and moving your mouse around in a circle, it stops even though you are still moving it. It also does this just when NOTHING is open on the desktop. Just stops for about a second, then springs back.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't know if this is the right section but I don't know where the problem lies. It could be a game issue as it's not happened on desktop, it could be hardware but I doubt it.Any game, any time, the S key will randomly stop working. Any gamers will know the S key usually means backwards in some form or another, or brake. It will just stop working and will only work when I exit the game and re-load it. Obviously this is annoying and some games you can't save when you like and some take ages to load (on this vintage thing anyway).Any idea what it is? I ran ad-aware about 4 days ago, this problem I noticed once about a week and a bit ago, and it's just done it three times on me tonight.Keyboard is PS/2 and is plugged directly into the PS/2 on the motherboard (no USB adaptor or anything). Specs of computer in question are above on the little button next to my name.

I can't figure it out. I have it set to run after 5 min of me not being on the pc, but after it runs for about 10 min or so, it stops working as if someone moved the mouse. I've left it sit that way for hours thinking that something just vibrated the mouse or something and it never comes back on. It will come back on only if I move the mouse or strike a key and let it sit for the 5 min, but then it's the same all over again. I've tried different wait times and different settings but nothing works. Any ideas?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOn a friend's computer, they have broadband with Comcast. It seems that once every few hours (maybe after every restart? Not sure really...) they can't connect to the internet. I've found that going into Network connections, and clicking "Create a New Connection" on the left-hand menu and going through setting up a broadband connection manually seems to fix it- for a while.

View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently we rolled out a program called Imprivata. This program is a single sign on solution to allow our users to sign onto all of their programs without having to remember their passwords.Since this program was rolled out, I am getting reports of random computers at random times not being able to use the CTRL+ALT+DEL function.I doubt this is a hardware problem since it is happening to random computers at random times. I honestly don't believe that this is a security problem either since it works most of the time.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've had Win XP Pro installed on a new system for about 2 years now and suddenly nothing wants to work. When I boot up, Windows loads normally but then I get this error message: "TRdww:cwindowssystem32undll32.exe: rundll32.exe" also "The application failed to initialize properly (0x0000005) click ok to terminate application"Upon doing so ONLY Microsoft Word will run. Nothing else will, no internet explorer or any other application. When I reboot in 'safe mode' most things will work...except the printer spooler (I assume drivers are not loaded)I've run several Anti-virus scans and have turned up nothing. I've also done
a system-restore to an earlier time and no change!
I am using Windows XP with SP3 (updated) and there's this problem which annoys me a lot. Under Control Panel -> Visual Effects, I have selected "Adjust for Best Appearance".The problem is that the minimizing animation suddenly stops working after sometime and then starts again if I restart my PC. I don't think there's any damn thing wrong with any of the drivers.

I don't know how to get around this because I can't continue the installation w/o the use of the keyboard. Unfortunatly, he has Windows ME on his computer right now so this issue needs to be resolved.

View 8 Replies View RelatedMy laptop keyboard has a strange problem. If the computer sits idle for a couple of hours, the keyboard stops working normally. I can't type any text;
however, the keys will respond as shortcut keys. For example, if I open Word and type F, the file menu will appear. My built in touch pad also will not function normally. If I double click on an icon, it brings up the properties screen for that item. When I restart my computer, I am not able to type into the logon screen at all with my keyboard.
I have attached a USB keyboard to my laptop, but I still can't type right away. The only thing that works is for my to restart my computer two or three times, they press CLT-ALT-DEL on my USB keyboard. Most of the time after a couple of tries,I can type into this secondary logon screen with the USB keyboard. Once Windows is open, my regular laptop keyboard works fine again. This is until I leave it idle for a while.
I keep losing my mouse driver. I have installed a IBM optical mouse on my
Dell PC and for some reason the driver seems to go away. It occurs mostly
when the PC is started up. When this happens the scroll speed is so
uncontrollable that you can't do anything with it until you reload the
driver. When you open the mouse properties and click on update driver it
comes back and tells you that the best driver is installed so you have to
choose another driver so the mouse will work. When it happens again you
choose the driver it had before and then it will work again. Next time the
same thing - It seems all I get done is update the driver going between two
different drivers. What would be causing this. Can't an IBM mouse be used on a Dell?
I have the Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0, have installed the intellipoint 5.0 software prior to connecting the mouse. Plugged in the receiver and all worked fine for a while. The pointer moves to the middle of the left side of the screen and then acts like it is on an elastic band. As you try to move anywhere, always returning to the middle left of screen, making the mouse unuseable. Found the software update to 5.2, uninstalled 5.0 and installed 5.2, again worked fine to start then problem arose again.I am as happy as you can be that there are no known viruses/trojans etc etc.
I have completed the mouse software/registry removal as per Microsoft Knowledge base for xp and re-installed 5.2, fine in the first instance but again after an undertermined time problem was back again.Thought it may be a faulty mouse so have had it exchanged, again fine for a while but then problem back again. So have decided it MUST be software oriented. Have removed rubbish from the system and the registry, on reboot fine for a while then problem back again. Have tried the USB and PS2 connections with the same result for both. Connected a standard cabelled PS2 mouse and it works fine. I have also tried moving the receiver unit to various places within its cable range to see if it is suffering interference from monitors etc, no difference seen. Likewise pressing the button on the receiver and mouse to resync them makes no difference.
I have a Digital Media Pro Keyboard and an optical mouse. It seems like the PC just freezes by itself. I'm told by the GF that it usually happens when it's just sitting idle. The light on the mouse goes out and the keyboard stops working as well. They are both USB devices. Please check out the hijack log and let me know if there is something going on that I am not seeing,
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm running windows xp sp3 along side with ubuntu linux 8.04. When I'm using windows, everything will stick for half a second; it's not like the computer is being slow and lagging from insufficient hardware. Everything just stops simultaneously; anything I'm typing, any music or video I'm playing, the mouse stops etc. After that half a second, everything works fine until the next instance. This usually happens a few times a minute, sometimes much more, and once I've gone almost two hours (watching a movie) without this happening. Even worse, occasionally this will happen on an extreme level, and there will be a series of "rapid fire" sticks, where the mouse will dart and bounce around the screen, even clicking randomly. When I'm playing games, these instances appear as normal laggs in the game, but completely out of place. This seems to happen more when I'm running iTunes, but it is certainly not limited to this. What I find even stranger, is that when I'm using the linux OS, it runs perfectly like it should. This began before I began using linux at all, a little more than a year ago I think. I was using the OS as I always had, I don't remember doing anything to invoke this, but I assumed it was a virus of some kind. So after trying a few antivirus programs without result, I decided to start from scratch. I wiped the entire hard disc, reinstalled windows as well as linux. But the problem continued in windows xp, with little change. I recently added a 1GB stick of RAM which I thought could be the problem, but since it was happening before I don't think this is the case.

There are numerous problems commencing with startup, so I'll begin there.I run Ad-aware 6, Spybot S&D and HijackThis frequently in order to try to prevent intrusions, but something seems to have failed!Upon startup, there is (recently) always a ZoneAlarm message saying that "explorer.exe is trying to access the internet" Although I have clicked the box for my (Deny) response to be remembered, the message has appeared at each startup for the last month or so, and I'm tired of that.Likewise, ZoneAlarm asks for permission to allow Firefox to access the internet shows up each time I start that even though I've told ZA to remember it.

Upgraded my XP home PC (Athlon 64 3500) to XP Pro and added office 2003 pro. I now have a very irritating fault that I cannot find any info on. Basically on accessing the web using IE6 for the first time after a re boot the machine locks totally for approx 5 mins. During this time the Start button and Task manager dont respond. The only thing that seems to be still working is right clicking on the desktop brings up the properties screen. The computer does store the keypresses as 5 mins later several windows will pop up as per keys pressed and the machine will stay free of the problem until next re boot.

I keep hearing my machine make the tone that it uses for a usb device to be plugged and unplugged through out the day for no reason, and the usb mouse just either responds erratically or freezes altogether. I then need to unplug and replug it to make it function again.
I have already tried virus scans, with no result, updated the bios, and received a usb driver hotfix from microsoft, but non of these have remedied the issue. This is a new issue on a 2 year old machine so I can only deduce there is some type of virus or worm running that I can't locate.I have already tried the mouse on another machine it functions correctly, and it is clean, with no optical issues.
