I am having problems getting my USB optical Microsoft mouse to work on my new Toshiba Satalite A85 notebook.I plug it in to any of the usb ports and it wont work. I tried restarting too
I keep losing my mouse driver. I have installed a IBM optical mouse on my Dell PC and for some reason the driver seems to go away. It occurs mostly when the PC is started up. When this happens the scroll speed is so uncontrollable that you can't do anything with it until you reload the driver. When you open the mouse properties and click on update driver it comes back and tells you that the best driver is installed so you have to choose another driver so the mouse will work. When it happens again you choose the driver it had before and then it will work again. Next time the same thing - It seems all I get done is update the driver going between two different drivers. What would be causing this. Can't an IBM mouse be used on a Dell?
I have the Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0, have installed the intellipoint 5.0 software prior to connecting the mouse. Plugged in the receiver and all worked fine for a while. The pointer moves to the middle of the left side of the screen and then acts like it is on an elastic band. As you try to move anywhere, always returning to the middle left of screen, making the mouse unuseable. Found the software update to 5.2, uninstalled 5.0 and installed 5.2, again worked fine to start then problem arose again.I am as happy as you can be that there are no known viruses/trojans etc etc.
I have completed the mouse software/registry removal as per Microsoft Knowledge base for xp and re-installed 5.2, fine in the first instance but again after an undertermined time problem was back again.Thought it may be a faulty mouse so have had it exchanged, again fine for a while but then problem back again. So have decided it MUST be software oriented. Have removed rubbish from the system and the registry, on reboot fine for a while then problem back again. Have tried the USB and PS2 connections with the same result for both. Connected a standard cabelled PS2 mouse and it works fine. I have also tried moving the receiver unit to various places within its cable range to see if it is suffering interference from monitors etc, no difference seen. Likewise pressing the button on the receiver and mouse to resync them makes no difference.
I have a Digital Media Pro Keyboard and an optical mouse. It seems like the PC just freezes by itself. I'm told by the GF that it usually happens when it's just sitting idle. The light on the mouse goes out and the keyboard stops working as well. They are both USB devices. Please check out the hijack log and let me know if there is something going on that I am not seeing,
I have an optical mouse on a Dell 8400 running x/p pro. The last two weeks my mouse keeps freezing for no apparent reason. I keep hearing my machine make the tone that it uses for a usb device to be plugged and unplugged through out the day for no reason, and the usb mouse just either responds erratically or freezes altogether. I then need to unplug and replug it to make it function again.
I have already tried virus scans, with no result, updated the bios, and received a usb driver hotfix from microsoft, but non of these have remedied the issue. This is a new issue on a 2 year old machine so I can only deduce there is some type of virus or worm running that I can't locate.I have already tried the mouse on another machine it functions correctly, and it is clean, with no optical issues.
For past few weeks i'm struggling to figure out the reasons for my window hangs. First i thought, its may be of my disfigured mouse port on motherboard, however i changed my mouse to USB mouse. But still i'm facing the problem. All of sudden, OS hangs, no cursor movements or mouse movements. Even manual restart is freezed, only the power off is the solution. Can "U" trace the problem?
I have a Dell d800 that the IEEE / 1394 port is not working. I have tried everything : bought a cardbus card for the 1394, uninstall the device then reboot for windows to re-establish the drivers, disabled / reenabled to device, new drivers from dell, ms, and maxtor, updated bios from Dell for the D800, double checked the BIOS settings, and ran Dell Diagnosics cd (never had luck with this one), you name it I tried it.I am trying to attach a Maxtor HDD drive to the computer it doesn't have any usb 2.0 connections.
I have an Emachines T3642 computer that originally came with Vista. I just down graded to XP Home edition using a windows software disk from an old laptop that is no longer working.Every thing went fine accept now my the computer is not acknowledging my ethernet connection and I am unable to get online. The ethernet cable light so I know it is working.
I just recently reinstalled Windows XP on my computer, my USB keyboard is working fine, but my mouse is not working, I tried it in all the USB ports for it and I am getting no response, I am getting a curser on screen but no movement nor am I able to click.
My mouse suddenly stopped to work after I restarted my computer. I turned my computer off to clean the dust in it and then I replugged everything back. Everything seems to work perfectly. But after 5 seconds my mouse stopped moving and it's stuck. I tried to plug it in a different USB and it detect and it work for another 5 seconds then it stops. I tried everything I could. I am on Windows XP by the way.
first my left click stop working so i figured it was a hardware problem, i switched the mouse settings so that i could use the right click instead however i'm still having problems where it won't click...i notice that this most happens in firefox so i figured the issue is not really hardware....
when the pc is restarted the mouse does not work after multiple reboots it might start working or if you unplug it then plug it back in it will work.I have a fair idea what the problem
My two computer and two ps/2 mouse all not working at all. This is very strange. I've never had problem on this.I have two ps/2 mouse and put in two computer. They are suddenly not working at all. Ths is very very strange.
I have a machine which has suddenly stopped responding to any mouse connected to the usb port. The ports appear to still be working as i can access a usb key etc from them. As soon as i plug a mouse in i get an error saying the device may not be installed properly. When checking in the control pannel all devices appear to be fine but the port the mouse is in shows as 'unknown device' it seems to have suddenly lost the ability to recognise when something is a mouse
A buddy of mine is having problems with his PC. He said when he turns it on it seems to boot up fine (lights on case work) but his screen, mouse and keyboard are not working. Now Im assuming that all those burning out at the same time is next to impossible. I think it might have to do with the PC itself. I have yet to try a different screen and such just to make sure. Also if infact trying another screen fails i obviously will not be able to look in his bios, which leaves me kinda stumped.
I was recently uninstalling unwanted programs from my computer when i accidently uninstalled my nvidia driver for my graphics card. It told me to restart. Now when i get to the log in screen the mouse and keyboard won't work so i cant log into windows or do ANYTHING!!! I have tried plugging in a different mouse and keyboard, the lights on the keyboards flash to indicate they are connected, the mouse lights up, except they will not work! The keyboard works when i use BIOS and the USB thing is set to enabled. It seems my only option is to reinstall windows from the disc but i have valuable files on my hard drive.
I am having issues with my keyboard and mouse(hence the title). My keyboard works fine while in the bios and while booting, but once the Windows Bar stops going from side to side and I start to see my desktop load, the screen is in 640x480 resolution or something (like safe mode) and I can't use my keyboard or my mouse, even though the lights on both are lit(so they have power). Earlier, I was having problems with my hal.dll (long story, but I ended replacing it from my MCE OEM CD in the recovery console((which I have in my MBR Boot menu)), and now I am here). I think that that might be the contributing issue here, but I have no clue what to do next. The same thing happens when I enter safe mode. I would just boot from my XP DVD and do a repair, but DELL gave me a DVD-ROM OEM disk with my XPS 600 even though the only drive I can boot from is my CD-RW DRIVE as far as I know. I have checked my boot order in my bios. I can boot from USB or Onboard or Removable Hard drives and Cd Drives.
I just reinstalled XP on one of my computers because it had some problem. It is a dell E1505 laptop. Got windows loaded and started doing the drivers.I got to the chipset driver they suggested and after it was done installing, my mouse no longer worked and I had to use the touchpad. Looking at the Device Manager, it looks like some of my usb hubs are not active. I tried plugging the mouse into all the ports and nothing happened. It is just a dell standard mouse, so it shouldnt need any additional driver support.
Every mouse Ive tried to get working on a system that I just installed XP on will not work. Note these mice are ps/2 but it isn't the port because I used a Ps/2 to USB converter and that didn't work either? Note Ive rebooted the system every time I tried a new mouse so it isn't the restart needed.
I've just recently purchased a system within a week only to find that my wired optical mouse has stopped working correctly. It sporadically moves from place to place and at times is completely unresponsive. The weird thing is that every once in a while, the power on the mouse completely turns off (no light coming from it). I am certain the USB mouse works as it has been tested in another computer.
so we just installed SP3 for XP. At first the boot was failing, made some hardware changes and all was good seemingly... now the keyboard and mouse no longer work, but they work when the computer just starts up. They just stop working shortly after. I plugged in a USB mouse and that works, so I was thinking it may be a problem with the PS/2 ports.
My PC seems to be working fine, running along. I went up close and checked if anything was fryed/unplugged yet no problems. My PC can turn on, but my monitor, keyboard AND mouse doesn't work
Tried a system restore ...... after that when the system restarted not able to use the mouse.Tried a different USB port.Unplugged all the cables from the tower ... hold the power button for 1min ... replugged the cables Still the same thing mouse lights up but cursor does not moves
I need help with an XP desktop setting issue. I had a mouse issue and in the process,I clicked or right clicked on or near the task bar by the clock. Now I've got a colored box on the left quarter of the desktop which has "folder tasks"on top, "other places" in the middle and "details" on the bottom. This doesn't affect using any other program......its just on the desktop taking up space.
I am trying to install and new keybpard and mouse (Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000) I follow everything in the book, install the software and everything but they both dont work
I recently upgraded my motherboard but kept my hardrive as is except for changing the drivers provided with my Mb and registering xp again as xp stated that too many changes took place. my mouse not working I uninstall my mouse driver and rebooted xp where it did pick up my mouse but no movement I also tried installing the software provided with the mouse but no luck. I even took another hardrive and installed xp on there the mouse then work fine.
running on windows XP SP2 & the mouse would not work so i tried my mouse in the USB port and in the ps/2 port and it still did not work. When i checked in device manager everything looked ok but i could not access the mouse properties in the control panel also when i tried a spyware scan it kept crashing as soon as it found a infection.
So i formatted the hard drive to NTFS and tried reinstalling windows it got halfway though and i got a stop error message (Blue screen of death). IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL STOP: 0x0000000A (0xFFBE0000, 0X00000001, 0X00000000, 0X80825254)
Dell xps 400, pentium2.80 ghz dual core, 1 gig ram, win xp media center op sys. Just bought a new microsoft cordless mouse with usb connection for transmitter. With mouse plugged in my monitor will not power down after the amount of minutes I have set in power options nor will it go to screen saver if I choose a screen saver which I did just to test. So, I turned off screen saver and just chose in the power option panel to turn off monitor after five minutes, chose to hibernate never or suspend never. Will not work with mouse plugged in, but will work if I unplug mouse.
