Hi everybody, I hope somebody can help me out.Whenever my computer that runs on XP starts up, I get this message saying,C:WINDOWS/system32 gsvr32.exe,he NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction. S:0549 IP:0188 OP:Of 00 00 02 01 Choose 'Close' to terminate the application. If I click ignore, more and more just keep popping up so I just end up choosing ignore.

View 14 Replies View Relatedwhen i start my computer i get an error message saying that it cannot find a certain hive file.some systemroot/extensions etc it all disappears before i ca read it. we just had a power surge. it was on a protecter but it didn't protect it very well. anyway i am runing xp x64. i start it up, loads mem test etc and i press f1 like normal. then it shows the windows xp screen with the progress bar then i get a blue screen with that error message and then it restarts.

A couple of symantec errors (don't use norton anymore but can't delete it either)4. And after we get rid of the error messages, the HP update Agent runs the whole time but can't ever complete the update.I usually have to get out of that by alt+ctrl+del.When we try to shut down the computer, it just doesn't do it. I ran regcleaner and it fixed a bunch of stuff, but still wouldn't shut down or restart properly. Then I disabled NVidia driver helper, seemed to help a little, but now it gets stuck on the blue "logging off" screen and we still have to turn it off and restart manually.

It freezes on the password screen, it automatically restarts, usually takes me about 4 attempts to get my computer up and running. Then, when I finally do get it going it gives me a message saying:

I sent off my error report and a screen opened up with a few recommendations, such as running diagnostic tests on certain softwares, and trying a system restore, which I did but to no avail.

I know this means that that file is missing but I cannot fix it because I don't have my Windows XP CD nor do I have a Startup Disk so I could recover the register. What I have done was, got a BART CD and booted from it and windows loaded but I don't know how to fix or find the corrupted file.

I've been troubled by viruses and trojans on an older computer (Pentium4) and decided to reinstall XP from the disc to see if I can "start over". I have another primary computer, so it doesn't hurt me to lose all the files etc. I'd rather start with a clean slate. Anyway, the XP install from the disc with SP1 went fine. Then I installed SP2 per the request of the windows update monitor. The install proceeded fine until a copy error occurred.Copy Erro Error occurred while copying file sprb0414.dll.Cannot copy file to directory.

When I bring up utilities for system restore, it shows drive I as the system drive instead of drive C.I can sort of understand why this might happen because I installed a new 200 gig drive 5 months ago and made my old C drive I. My system tells me that C is my boot drive and I am not having any real problems except with restore. Looks like something is wrong in restor's database.

Sometimes when I cut/copy folders from one location to another the process will stop and give an error message cannot move file with a red x. Clicking on ok cancells the whole cut/copy operation, which can leave you wondering what has or has not been moved and requires trawling through source and target location. Gets a bit annoying when it happens fairly often.

I bought a blank dvd from Walgreens and tried to burn a dvd data disc. An error message came up which said the disc was the wrong media. Is it possible the disc is made for newer drives and I need a slower media or something? What do I look for?

Then it goes on like that, and the technical information: STOP: 0x00000024 (0x001902FE 0xF7CDE6DC 0xF7CDE3D8 0xF731BF81) It started happening after I ran the new AVG Free 8.0 virus scanner. So maybe that's the problem? So far I haven't been able to even run in safe mode to disable it.

We are building some PC's at work and one of them was supposed to be for a spicific department within. well, last minute they decided to give it to another dept. Well we changed the account name to that dept from the other. The problem is when we boot up the PC it still has the old dept.'s name on it, when we login, it labled as the new dept. we searched windows files as well as Registry and cant find the old dept.'s name anywhere. where is this name being pooled from?
