Cant Able To Run Virus Scanner, Open Microsoft Support Sites
Jan 4, 2006Its all started when the malware paytime.exe attacked my pc. It turned off my firewall(SP2 Firewall), real-time virus scanner(Trend microoffice client,not using its firewall, provided by my service provider). With the help of hijackthis, spybot and ewido and also the interent , able to delete paytime.exe and its related files.To this I entered in safe mode. Now I am able to control my firewall. Thats the only success BUT when I click nvmixer.exe in my taskbar, it shows visual C++ runtime error and my virus scanner is saying that officescan client has not started. So in control panel I entered in administrative tools and tried manually to start real time scan process but I failed again. It shows cannot start this process in safe mode.

Jan 15, 2009Suddenly my documents folder opens when I log on to my machine. I checked all Startup folders for a shortcut to My Documents but found none. I followed the instructions on kb899865 but everything was as it should have been. I then checked for the trojan �spyware.dlder with MalwareBytes Anti Malware and found nothing. Spyware Blaster also found nothing. About the same time I found I was unable to open help and support, when I tried to correct that I continue to get the message that pchdt_w3.cab can not be found. It is not on C or the Windows install disk or SP2 disk. I am really stuck. While it is possible to close the folder after booting it is a pain and I would like to get things operating as they should be. I am running XP Pro. w/sp2.

Feb 18, 2009I accidentally set all permissions for one folder on my hard drive to deny. Now I completely lost all access to this folder even if I log in as administrator. I cannot change permissions either. When I click "Security" tab in "Folder Properties" window, an error message shows "You do not have permissions to view the current permission settings for <folder>, but you can make permission changes." However, when I tried to give "Full Control" to Administrator, another error message shows "Unable to save permission changes on <folder>. Access is denied"

Apr 12, 2007I just did a clean install of XP Home on my mother? s Inspiron 1200, thinking it had pickup a virus or some kind of bug. It was very sluggish and was having a hard time booting up. Since I did the install the machine is acting a lot better, it boots faster & shuts off fine. But, after it gets warmed up, when you click on an item (Microsoft Word) on the menu bar, like edit to cut & paste, the shaded area jumps back and forth. It will jump back to file, then to format. The hotter the machine get the more this happens, then I have a hard time cutting the machine off, does anybody know what is going on? Is it a hardware problem or software problem?

You can imagine this is pretty slow.If I detach the drive first, Windows just picks another random data partition on my hard drive. It never looks to C:. Does anyone know how to change this? Nov 30, 2005I have had this program downloaded but never installed for quite a long time already....I asked a friend of mine the other day to use the program to back up her computer drivers using it so we could determine how exactly it works, and if the results were what I hoped for, she could then burn the folder to a cd. The reason I had her do this was because she had put in a new harddrive that I had already installed windows to for her on my system, which meant that it was configured for my own hardware and not hers by the time she got the drive in the mail from me, and once installed, no amount of playing with the drivers including new downloads would work. So I had her hook up her still available old drive, run this program and burn the files to a cd so once the new drive was hooked back up again, those drivers could be used since they worked fine on the old drive.
I was massively impressed with the outcome and saw the real potential for having all working drivers available for any new installations for anybody in that kind of situation of having to format the drive and starting over....

Jul 19, 2005I have this problem where I was not able to send or receive using Microsoft Fax (for WinXP and 2000). I'm using a GPRS modem which I have got working for other fax softwares like Symantec and MightyFax. I was able to establish a connection but was not able to send or receive. I can hear the ringing sound from the remote fax machine I was dialing but no fax was received there. Error message is "An error occurred while sending/receiving fax". For Win2000, I was only able to send but even then, the fax was not clear.

Sep 25, 2008In winamp, all my songs that are in my music folder all have the same, incorrect album art unless they are in another subfolder with their own album art.I narrowed down the problem to the fact that when I put my documents folder into thumbnail view, the art appears on my music folder, rather than the default my music folder icon.I have looked everywhere in this folder for this image, which was originally on some music my brother was downloading and deleted a long time ago and cannot see a way of restoring it back to normal.
This is what it is like in my document and the album art on the my music folder is on every song inside that isn't in a subfolder:gured out why. I had to turn on display system files and delete them manually. I guess I shouldn't have just tried show hidden files
