scheduled tasks and the command lines that I have written?

VB Program Run From Scheduled Tasks
Sep 7, 2005Running a VB program from Sheduled Tasks, the VB program is supposed to bring up a form with information. The program works fine when started the "normal" way but when i start it from Sheduled Tasks it does start but it does not bring up the form. You can see the program running among the processes but thats all.

Oct 13, 2005I've tried in different accounts and even in the addmin account in safe mode and I always get the same error.I also get this error at home (this is my girlfriends computer) the error reads:New Task has been created, but may not run because the account info could not be sent.The specific is: 0x80041315 The task scheduler service is not running.What am I doing wrong? I've never had this problem before, is there some sort of option I need to select to get it to work?

Jan 22, 2006I bought my Dell 4700 about 6 months ago and was just going through the discs that came with it. I remembered that the Dell did not come with a Windows XP install disc in case I need to re-format. Is this normal? There is an option under Start....Accessories....System Tools to create OS backup disc. Is that what I need to make a disc or should it have came with one?

Apr 25, 2008i ran hijackthis straight out of the .exe file and i can't find the 'backup' folder anywhere (admittedly i don't even know if there is one) but in turning off some start up items, i just went 'i'm so over this' and lost my cool and ticked 2 run.dll files....makes for entertaining computing, this much i know.question one: can i just 'get' necessary .dll win xp sp2 files from somewhere?question two: is this somewhere, a)over the rainbow or b) would i have to 'do something recover style' with the win xp pro disc that would possibly hang me over the edge of losing data which c) is sparsely backed up because d) i'm a tool. question three: above all else, it takes 10min for start up (yes the entire process) to occur which inevitably leads me to having to enter the password for the user (admin) account. is this because of the missing run.dll files or is it because i changed the password not twice but thrice and therefore i may have confused it a little?

I've been thinking about reformating the HD and reinstalling XP Pro. 2 questions: 1st is; if I back up my HD and then do a restore after reinstalling the os, won't I just restore the glitches I'm trying to get rid of? 2nd question; Since I've never done a reinstall and restore; will all my programs be restored just as if they have been installed (Drivers, programs, etc.); or do I have to reinstall all my programs and then do a restore so I get all the data that changed after they were installed?

Nov 30, 2005I have had this program downloaded but never installed for quite a long time already....I asked a friend of mine the other day to use the program to back up her computer drivers using it so we could determine how exactly it works, and if the results were what I hoped for, she could then burn the folder to a cd. The reason I had her do this was because she had put in a new harddrive that I had already installed windows to for her on my system, which meant that it was configured for my own hardware and not hers by the time she got the drive in the mail from me, and once installed, no amount of playing with the drivers including new downloads would work. So I had her hook up her still available old drive, run this program and burn the files to a cd so once the new drive was hooked back up again, those drivers could be used since they worked fine on the old drive.
I was massively impressed with the outcome and saw the real potential for having all working drivers available for any new installations for anybody in that kind of situation of having to format the drive and starting over....

Dec 3, 2003I can't install my sound card and i don't know what make or model it is and i don't have a CD 4 it. I have only had the problem since i completely formatted my hard disk and re-installed XP home, I have looked around the XP disk and i can't find any folder 2 do with drivers. In device manager under other devices it says: multimedia audio controller with a yellow ,as well as Video controller also having the yellow.

Sep 25, 2008In winamp, all my songs that are in my music folder all have the same, incorrect album art unless they are in another subfolder with their own album art.I narrowed down the problem to the fact that when I put my documents folder into thumbnail view, the art appears on my music folder, rather than the default my music folder icon.I have looked everywhere in this folder for this image, which was originally on some music my brother was downloading and deleted a long time ago and cannot see a way of restoring it back to normal.
This is what it is like in my document and the album art on the my music folder is on every song inside that isn't in a subfolder:gured out why. I had to turn on display system files and delete them manually. I guess I shouldn't have just tried show hidden files

Nov 15, 2009Using XP home edition, I'm trying to tweak my Chrome browser so I went looking for the installation folder. The properties dialogue in the shortcut tells me it's in "C:Documents and SettingsOwnerLocal SettingsApplication DataGoogleChromeApplicationchrome.exe". The problem is that I cannot find this folder. When I go to my D&S folder and open my "Owner" folder, there is no "Local Settings" folder. I have my system set up to show all folders, including hidden and system folders, so I know that isn't the problem.

Apr 21, 2009It all started a few weeks ago when I could not move a folder to the recycle bin because it "could not find it". This week i did somehow get it to move there, but when i tried to delete it for good I got the same error. So i used Tune-Up Utilities 2008 in an attempt to get rid of it. The folder is gone, but the error remains. I think the bin is not working properly anymore either. I moved some folders of music to the recycle bin but they weren't there yet rar files i had deleted were. I have tried many many different commands, and a "restore recycle bin" registry edit, and safe mode.

Initially, I'd hoped for something akin to the "Run at user logon" or "Run at startup" optionsavailable in the schedule tab of a scheduled task, but there is no setting for "Run at resume from standby/hibernation"
Restore a VPN connection after the computer's network capabilities are restored on resuming from hibernation. This is important because I have to occasionally wake thesystem from offsite using its Wake-On-LAN NIC. I've tried setting up a scheduled task to run at start-up and user logon which uses RASDIAL to dial the appropriate VPN connection, but this connection depends on the logged-in user's credentials, so it won't work at start-up. When set to have it run at user logon, it doesn't run when the computer comes out of hibernation.
