it has locked me out from changing it. Initially, I was unable to access my task manager screen until I ran Windows onecare scan. it cleared up the virus but I still cannot get into my regedit (it states registry editing has been blocked by your adminstrator). My background change occurred as a part of this virus....

View 6 Replies View Relatednew computer last month and we have not experienced any problems with it until yesterday. I had to use the ctrl+alt+del function for some reason, but when I entered those keys, a message came up that said "Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator." Ctrl+alt+del has worked previously, as recent as the day before. But for some reason it will not open up. No one in my family messed with the computer controls, at least not purposely. I called the Tech Support for HP, the maker of our computer, and they could not figure out the problem. Their only suggestion was to do a full system restore. How do I get rid of them?? How do I know which ones to get rid of? They may be virous, extra junk form previous installs? I do run Nortons anti-virous program. I don't want to reformat and reinstall XP but I may need to.

I was able to get rid of the majority of it, but there are a few things in my registry i am unable to delete, i used spy bot to get rid of most of the spy ware but for some reason it is not detecting the rest, also ad aware detects it but is unable to remove it since it is running in the background, i am unable to find the processs from task manager and end it so i cant delete it from the registry manually. What it is doing is bascially spamming pop ups on my pc every so often, here are the suspected names of the infections : mpise.dll , h22o0cf3ef2.dll , h62o0gf3e62.dll.

An office laptop running XP Home was riddled with malware - spyfighter, pcadprotector, CSW.HomeSearch etc. I've managed to remove them all after a full day of hassle but I'm still left with a frustrating issue in that I cannot adjust the desktop background. The properties box is greyed out for backgrounds. We have a simple peer to peer network (workgroup in fact) and no internal security or policies. What can I do before I throw the thing out of the window?

It seems to run just fine, yet the mouse is at an hourglass for a good amount of time.Then, All the icons disappear, Start Menu goes away, Cannot open task manger or run anything. Computer then stalls with DLL.exe and svchost error messages.I ran a spybot scan and adaware. Only coming up with Jupilites and Smitfraud-C.Both have been cleaned.If I can find a way to transfer my HJT file from my laptop to the computer I am currently using, will posted as soon as possible.

I've been to windows task manager & have enabled I/O Read Bytes & I/O Write bytes. When I'm doing nothing the following 3 programs are constantly changing. I've been online for about 3 hours now & these are the approximate figures:
ashserve.exe (Avast antivirus): read: 4,700,000,000 write: 3,700,000
svhost.exe: read: 705,000,000 write: 718,000,000
lsass.exe: read: 1,010,000 write: 540,000
Today is the 1st time my firewall reporeted that lsass requested internet access though this disc activity has been noticable since doing the reinstall.
i recently had a couple of trojans on my computer. they started to make my computer crash alot and they changed my background to a huge warning sign..it had said warning your computer is infested with many trojans malware and adware. i ran alot of scans and now i am very sure that its all cleaned up. But when i try to access my taskmanager i cannot. i have read another thread wich told me to type in taskmngr.exe or something like that the run thing but it just said task manager has been disabled by admin. how to reenable it and i am the admin. also when i try to change my background via right click>properties>desktop where i should be able to scroll through the backgrounds is all locked up and disabled.

I've ran ewido 2 days ago and spybot. IE sometimes doesn't load and I cannot access the resistry from RunRegedit.exe, it also opens then closes.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a HP Compaq Laptop 8510p.Since about 3 weeks, is an "exe" shown, which changes its name, after every start of the pc. This time its named XU8FE.exe, last time QBN4C.exe...and so on. A system scan for that files gets no results. Even in the registry is not such a file..The file is shown as a system process in the task manager.
Can anybody tell me, what kind of "exe" that is, and how to remove the causer of that file. I killed that process already (with admin rights possible) ..and there was no disturb during working with the pc.
I had a wallpaper background on my computer, but it was suddenly replaced by a white background that says Display Problem in a big blue triangle. Under it there was a box that said "Click here to restore background" or something like that. When I clicked on it my background became a solid blue background. I tried changing it by right clicking, but when the Properties windows opens, the only folders that show up are the Screensaver and Settings folders. All the others are gone.I can change the wallpaper when I go to My Pictures and right click and set up as background, but the screen remains blue and you can only see the picture briefly when powering on and off
View 6 Replies View Relatedi got windows xp home and im unable to enter my desktop or login, when i start up i get to the windows xp home logo and the process bar, but after that everything turns black and stays that way forever.i can't enter safe mode, the computer simply dont let me, i tap the safe mode options key, f12 for me, not f8, but the screen never shows up, it's like it doesnt register the key is there, i can tap f8 to get the booting options and f1 for bios options, but not the safe mode.
this happened after i found a virus in winlogon.exe, the AV deleted it and that is when things got messed up, although i have done this before actually, but then i just repair installed windows and everything went back to normal, but when i try this now, it doesnt work, it installs windows all over again, the blue screen and the yellow progress bar, but when it's suppose to reboot and then continue the installation
When I right click on the desktop to change the background settings the only thing I can change is the background color, no pictures, cant browse for pictures or set any of the standard backgrounds as the desktop background. How is this disbaled and how can I enable it again?

I'm running XP yet my start button and the taskbar aren't blue, the standard XP color, they're now looking like they did in Win 98. How do I fix this? Also I can't access the task manager either by control alt del or by right clicking the task bar and selecting task manager there. I've searched on this and found a number of different methods to supposedly fix this but haven't been successful so far.

What would cause the task bar settings to change? ie: the ability to view inactive icons disappears. Can not access the volume control. A reboot sets it back up with the ability to view inactive task bar functions through the expand task bar icon.

Then last night for absolutely no apparent reason, when I turned it on and it booted up it immediately looked 'different'. The task bar had changed colour and several of the icons were missing. Anyways today I forgot to turn zonealarm and avg back on, and I got a virus while surfing the net.
