Insufficient Memory To Run Application Error Shown During Installation
Jul 11, 2005
I am trying to re-install a game on my computer. Due to a good virus attack, I was forced to reformat my hardrive and re-install Windows XP Pro. When I tried to re-install my son's game (one of those Sesame Street educational games) I get an error message saying that there is insufficient memory to run the application-- The title of the message box is "Can't run 16-bit application"; there is no error number. I have Googled for it, but the only answers I seem to get are for the autoexe.nt file being corrupt; however, my specific problem is not listed in the symptoms.
Whenever I login into my user name I get an error message that says insufficent memory to 16 bit programs, can anyone help me with this one, To my knowledge i am not even trying to run any programs, and everything else seems to be ok, its only under my username
Try to install new software Turbo Tax and the software for my new Epson Scanner. I get this application error message: This application cannot run. That is all it says. I've had this computer for three years and have installed software many times with no problems. There is plenty of room on the hard drive. I have tried installing in safe mode. I have tried to restore back. I have done a defrag.
I uninstalled Windows Defender ages ago as soon as I realized that it had just been hogging the CPU. For some reason, an error message pops up on startup: "The application failed to initialize: 0x800106ba. The problem caused the Windows Defender service to stop. For information on how to manually start a service, see the Help and Support center."
Alright this has left me without my dell for a few months now and its driving me nuts.I was trying to format my computer, and than install winxp.i wiped it,and tried installing winxp from my cd, Everytime i try to install,it says it couldn't be installed due to not enough memory left,or my disc being corrupted,it cannot be corrupted because i have installed windows xp on this computer using the same cd.
Just started getting this error message. [see attachment] It pops up seemingly at random; startup, browsing, even while I left the computer for awhile (no tasks running). The app is different most every time, tho (eg. <whatever>.exe).
Today, for the first time, when I signed on I get this big dialog box that states:winlogon.exe Application Error The instruction at 0x77f83aed referenced memory at 0x00440052. The memory could not be written. Click OK to terminate Click Cancel to debug.I tried BOTH Cancel and then OK with no results. When I clicked OK the programs would eventually come up, but I've found my application SCREEN SHOT DELUXE won't come up don't know if that is related or not. Also, had a little problem with Word Perfect on one boot, don't know EXACTLY what or IF these would be affected by this problem.I have a Dell 8250, Windows XP Pro, 512 RAM, 120 gig hard drive, 2.5 GHz.
I get an application error on start up before ever making a move to open any programs. The instruction at "0x009a6f9a" referenced memory at "0x00000000" could not be written. The moment I noticed this issue was after an install of my Printer/Fax/scanner by HP, It is a wireless printer so the firewall asked if it should unblock for the install process. My question is should I try to go back to a restore point before that install or is there a workaround for this error.
Hello,I got my Cnet email, last week, ok thank you,and saved it to my pc,its easier to refer to it rather than trawl all the way back through yahoo. Any way today I got the next email and again it interests me , as I have an old pc to dispose of.So interesting article save to pc,NO!I got ERROR unable to save to place,I tried it again several times to different places in the pc but no.So of to another web site I've been lately, ebay save a camera detail to pc aha unable to save insufficient memory,??? A check shows I have 17GB free space on one drive and 150GB free on the other drive and currently using about 270MB of 512MB ram so how can I be short of memory?I then did virus/spy/nasties scans, checked my drives for errors and defraged them.Tried it all again saves ebay ok but not cnet, but last week it saved cnet ok.
after a while of using my computer i will get error messages saying that programs/ie cannot be opened because there is insufficient memory. the computer is fine before this and handles many different things at the same time. i have to restart my computer every time this happens. i am currently running XP.
My son has a problem on his computer. I think it started when he downloaded the last big Microsoft update - the one that was being talked about so much recently. It blocks his computer when it occurs. I have to translate the message he receives on the screen from French, so I hope you will still understand. The message (translated) says: "Windows- Minimal virtual memory insufficient. Your system is lacking virtual memory. Windows augments (increases?) the size of your pagination file of the virtual memory. During this operation, requests for memory for certain applications can be refused. For more information, consult Help". But we can't consult help. We can't do anything. The computer kind of get gets bocked and has to be rebooted all the time. This can occur any time. When he's playing games it shoots him off back to the Windows main page and sometimes he needs to reboot to get back on. It also occurs when he's on the internet. When he's on the internet, he can't get back on and needs to reboot most of the time.
After considering a switch from FAT32 to NTFS, I finally took the plunge. When I boot up windows, I get an error message that says "insufficient memory to convert to NTFS." My machine "freezes" there and I'm in a loop.all I can do is reboot and get to the same place. Is there a way I can get to a command prompt and cancel my directive. At this rate, I'll be happy to get back to old "fatty."

Operating system is Windows XP and for some time my computer has slowed down to a snails crawl. It also shows Windows Virtual Memory Minimum too low your system is low on virtual memory, Windows is increasing the size of your virtual memory paging file, during this process, memory requests for some applications may be denied. I also tried to install Microsoft Office Word 12, it came up there is not enough memory on your disc space to run Word. I got fed up and was going to delete some old Microsoft Updates but instead deleted as many temporary files I could and cookies as well.
When start my PC, it shows upto Windows Logon Screen and from there a Blue screen with Memory Dumping Started message occurs. I don't know what needs to be done. When I tried to re-install the windows, the Hard Disk got crashed. I replaced the Hard Disk and when I tried to install the Windows 98/2000/ XP, I faced the same problem. I tried installing windows thru different machine assuming problem with my Mother Board. But the same was repeated.
I have got the following error on XP under a video editing app. The app is VirtualDubMod. I never got this error before. The error is below. The instruction "0x025397a8" referenced memory at "0x01bc39f0". The memory could not be read. What exactly does that mean? How do I fix it? Is it possible to fix it?
Error 1321. The Installer has insufficient privileges to modify the file C:Program FilesCommon FilesJavaUpdateBase Imagesjre1.6.0.b105core3.zip. I'm using a Compaq 6470NX, running XP. I recently had to do a recovery and of course lost everything. I'm now trying to re-do stuff. I'm sure I'll have a lot more to ask. Immediately after purchasing an 8 GB USB flash drive with the intention of running portable applications off it on the various Windows XP machines I have to use, I had installed the Portable Apps Base (http://portableapps.com/suite) and then through it, several applications, including OpenOffice Portable, Firefox portable and Tucan Portable. Probably after using the drive on one of my office computers, some files and folders seemed to become corrupted. After trying unsuccessfully to delete mysterious, un-openable files with special characters in their names that appeared seemingly from nowhere, I formated the drive.
After formating, I was able to copy data and music files from my computer's hard drive to the flash drive correctly. However, I am now unable to properly re-install the PortableApps Base program on the flash drive. Thus, the main purpose of buying it is defeated. The PortableApps software does seem to install, but when I double-click on the StartPortableApps.exe icon on the flash drive (F:SoftwarePortableStartPortableApps.exe), I get various error messages. Sometimes the message says that only part of the read request could be executed, and sometimes I get "StartPortableApps.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close". I got the latter after scanning the drive with an antivirus (no virus detected) and then checking the drive for errors (F -> right clock -> Properties -> Tools -> Error checking).
As a lay person, my guess is that something necessary for properly installing the programs was lost when I formated the drive. However, I do not see why this should happen, because the hard drive on my home computer has been formated more than once when it became infected, but there was never any problem with installing software afterwards.
My computer won't reboot. It started when I tried to update windows to sp2 and it had an error so it couldn't finish the update so it uninstalled whatever it installed. I rebooted and it goes into a loop, first the manufacture logo, the windows xp logo and it goes right back to the manufacture logo and starts that process again. I tried to go into safe mode and even the last best configuration to start and it still goes into this loop. What should I do? I don't want to reformat if I don't have too.

Windows XP and every time I log on to my desktop, the first thing that pops up is an error box. This is what it says: RUNDLL Error loading C:PROGRA~1NEWDOT~1NEWDOT ~1.DLL. The specified module could not be found.OK.
