Error 1321 System Recovery - Installer Insufficient Privileges Modify File

Sep 22, 2007

Error 1321. The Installer has insufficient privileges to modify the file C:Program FilesCommon FilesJavaUpdateBase Imagesjre1.6.0.b105core3.zip. I'm using a Compaq 6470NX, running XP. I recently had to do a recovery and of course lost everything. I'm now trying to re-do stuff. I'm sure I'll have a lot more to ask. The error above came when trying to install a java runtime and I've gotten it for other things as well.

Encrypted File Recovery Error

Aug 25, 2005

My pc power supply blew up, and damaged all my drives, and other parts. I found a similar h/d for sale, that had bad sectors, and swapped the circuit board and the drive now works again.BUT, it does not boot, so I connected it as a second drive, and got access to basically all my files. However, any attempts to get it to boot again have not worked, so I cannot access my encrypted data files.I suspect that since only the first few tracks were damaged (?) the private encryption key is somewhere else on the drive (like the two fats, etc)is this assumption wrong? If true, is there a specific s/w package that could "rebuild" my drive, or at least pick up the second copy of this "key" and help me open the files?

System Recovery Fatal Error - No Operating System Found

Sep 12, 2008

I tried to do a System Recovery today on my Sony laptop. Got 41% completed and had a fatal error. Options given were Ignore, Retry or Abort. Attempted a Retry. Got a fatal error message and everything locked up. I ended up shutting down and when I turned the computer on again it said no operating system found. Where did I screw up?

This is a six year old Sony, XP, AMD 1.0Ghz. Everything was working at the time I tried the System Recovery EXCEPT I was constantly getting low space messages for drive C. I have no files on this drive and very little software. It is a 20G hard drive partioned into two 10G partitions.

I have an HP computer that got a bug on it. I had to recover with my recovery disc. Before the bug I had Windows Installer Clean Up utility on my computer that I used, like when Adobe Reader screwed up and I couldn't download it again because of remnants of Adobe still on the computer that I couldn't get rid of. Now I have that problem with Java. After the recovery Java wouldn't work. So I deleted it in the Add/Delete. But there are remnants that won't delete. Now I can't find the Installer Cleanup utility. My computer crashed about a month ago and I had to use a recovery disc to restore my original system.. Everything works fine except when I boot up and following the Sony logo and Intel logo the following message appears "Press F11 for Acronis Startup Recovery Manager. Acronis fatal error Boot drive (partition) not found. Press Enter to try to boot your PC." Pressing enter boots up the PC fine but how can I eliminate the process? I had Acronis on both drives before the crash but it no longer exists.

Insufficient Memory To Run Application Error Shown During Installation

Jul 11, 2005

I am trying to re-install a game on my computer. Due to a good virus attack, I was forced to reformat my hardrive and re-install Windows XP Pro. When I tried to re-install my son's game (one of those Sesame Street educational games) I get an error message saying that there is insufficient memory to run the application-- The title of the message box is "Can't run 16-bit application"; there is no error number. I have Googled for it, but the only answers I seem to get are for the autoexe.nt file being corrupt; however, my specific problem is not listed in the symptoms.

Insufficient System Resources

Jan 30, 2005

Have"Iomega Automatic Backup Pro Software" and the Iomega 80gb usb external hard drive This software works great for backing up data The only way I can get it to work for a complete system restore on my C/Drive is in safe mode! Tried it on another computer had same problem. One of the computers has Windows Xp Pro (media adtion) the other windows XP home. The Windows Pro is HP that has the recovery backup on seperate partion D/Drive , installed as fat32,. Normal system is on C/drive . I can do a back up the on the D/drive Fat32 but not the C/drive which is NTFS. This appears to be great software very simple to use nothing like Ghost 2003 . only problem it doesn't work for doing a complete system backup. (The reason I bought it) Was wondering if anyone has used this software and had similar difficulties ? Or if anyone has any idea what could be causing the problem?

Installer Starts On Right Clicking Any File

Dec 23, 2007

Every time I right click on a file or shortcut, the Windows installer dialogue pops up with "preparing to install". I've spend hours cleaning off redundant files, running scans and generally cleaning up. I've reinstalled the Windows Installer, and run a repair install of XP home SP2, only to arrive at the conclusion that the installer was damaged by spyware at a point when it tried to uninstall a program which placed an entry on the right-click properties menu, and didn't uninstall it correctly. Now every time I right-click, the menu is referencing a registry value which prompts the Windows installer to start because it can't find the now-uninstalled program. Or that's my take on it.
