I am trying to re-install a game on my computer. Due to a good virus attack, I was forced to reformat my hardrive and re-install Windows XP Pro. When I tried to re-install my son's game (one of those Sesame Street educational games) I get an error message saying that there is insufficient memory to run the application-- The title of the message box is "Can't run 16-bit application"; there is no error number. I have Googled for it, but the only answers I seem to get are for the autoexe.nt file being corrupt; however, my specific problem is not listed in the symptoms.
Hello,I got my Cnet email, last week, ok thank you,and saved it to my pc,its easier to refer to it rather than trawl all the way back through yahoo. Any way today I got the next email and again it interests me , as I have an old pc to dispose of.So interesting article save to pc,NO!I got ERROR unable to save to place,I tried it again several times to different places in the pc but no.So of to another web site I've been lately, ebay save a camera detail to pc aha unable to save insufficient memory,??? A check shows I have 17GB free space on one drive and 150GB free on the other drive and currently using about 270MB of 512MB ram so how can I be short of memory?I then did virus/spy/nasties scans, checked my drives for errors and defraged them.Tried it all again saves ebay ok but not cnet, but last week it saved cnet ok.
after a while of using my computer i will get error messages saying that programs/ie cannot be opened because there is insufficient memory. the computer is fine before this and handles many different things at the same time. i have to restart my computer every time this happens. i am currently running XP.
My son has a problem on his computer. I think it started when he downloaded the last big Microsoft update - the one that was being talked about so much recently. It blocks his computer when it occurs. I have to translate the message he receives on the screen from French, so I hope you will still understand. The message (translated) says: "Windows- Minimal virtual memory insufficient. Your system is lacking virtual memory. Windows augments (increases?) the size of your pagination file of the virtual memory. During this operation, requests for memory for certain applications can be refused. For more information, consult Help". But we can't consult help. We can't do anything. The computer kind of get gets bocked and has to be rebooted all the time. This can occur any time. When he's playing games it shoots him off back to the Windows main page and sometimes he needs to reboot to get back on. It also occurs when he's on the internet. When he's on the internet, he can't get back on and needs to reboot most of the time.
After considering a switch from FAT32 to NTFS, I finally took the plunge. When I boot up windows, I get an error message that says "insufficient memory to convert to NTFS." My machine "freezes" there and I'm in a loop.all I can do is reboot and get to the same place. Is there a way I can get to a command prompt and cancel my directive. At this rate, I'll be happy to get back to old "fatty."
"There is insufficient memory or disk space. Close extra windows and save your work." It's the message that I keep getting when I try to paste some pages of a book from Internet onto WORDS 2000 on my Laptop DELL INSPIRON 9300 with OS Windows XPPLEASE HELP ME TO FIND A CURE FOR THIS
Error 1321. The Installer has insufficient privileges to modify the file C:Program FilesCommon FilesJavaUpdateBase Imagesjre1.6.0.b105core3.zip. I'm using a Compaq 6470NX, running XP. I recently had to do a recovery and of course lost everything. I'm now trying to re-do stuff. I'm sure I'll have a lot more to ask. The error above came when trying to install a java runtime and I've gotten it for other things as well.
I recive amemory error "not enough memory, close other programs and try again".This happens in Digital Image suite 10.I have used Disk Cleanup, Error Checking, Defragand and set my Performance Options.I am using a: Dimension 8400, Winsowd XP Hone Edition, 1 GB of RAM, Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00Hz speed 2992MHz, Total Capacity of Hard Disc 229.28GB and have used only 18.19 GB and have free 211.08.
I know, I know...it seems as if everywhere you look, someone has a different opinion on this.I'm running an older system Dell Dimension 4550 Pentium 4 XP Home SP2 1GB Ram...2.4Ghz...533 MHz Front Side Bus...I recently installed a 400 GB HD to act as my slave drive. I added a 4GB partition, dedicated to the paging file. At this point, I have my Master Drive's (C) paging file set to 2MB-50MB; the Slave Drive (D) has no paging file and the partition on the Slave (G) is set to 1536MB-3800MB.
The biggest memory hog is Firefox, which gets to around 200,000k if I let it. Spyware Terminator runs at about 50,000k, as does Thunderbird. Then, I have several programs that run in the 30,000k range (FeedDemon, Replay AV, etc). The rest (around 20 programs are fairly low users). What I'm trying to accomplish is, getting that little bit of extra performance so that when I'm running a program like Winamp and enjoying music, I don't get stutters in the performance when I open a browser or execute a function.
i month ago i got an Acer laptop with dual 1.66 intel, XP Pro, 120GigHD, 2GigRAM, 128megVRAM, xp pro/sp2

I have 2 pieces of memory that I know is good which I am trying to upgrade a Compaq Presario 700 but everytime I put these memory chips in it gives me a PCI.SYS error and to reinstall windows, removing them is fine and widows starts ok. one stick is a second-hand one which is 128MB and the other is brand new which is 256MB, and are both designed for the 700 model notebook.

Looking for some assistance please with the virtual memory settings on my laptop. I'm continually getting 'low virtual memory' messages which either result in th explorer page shutting down or with applicatons being unable to run (including games). I've tried adjusting the settings under 'system properties' but when I re-boot and re-check this it always reverts to zero. I'm following the correct procss in hitting 'apply', etc but this problem continues to appear. There is also a 'paging' error where apparently there's a problem with the paging file configuration when i start the computer.
I get a message telling me my virtual memory is too low. This usually happens when I run an anti spy/ad programme. This happened once after I ran an AVG anti spy system scan and twice when I ran a panda scan. Is this a genuine message or a fake from a virus/spywear?
She has a DELL laptop and keeps getting an error message about her VIRTUAL MEMORY being too low or something to that effect. It's a DELL P4 with 256meg of RAM and a 1.7 gig processor.
I run Windows XP professional sp2 on a P4 2.4GHz/512DDR/845MotherBoard/300GB 7400rpm HDD. I have noticed that if I keep my system running at night, which is when I generally download stuff from rapidshare and some torrents, it shows some kind of low virtual memory message when I have a look at it in the morning. Why is it happening? The applications that keep running throughout night are firefox, uTorrent, McAfee Security Center, and my DSL connection tool.
I booted up my computer and left it running for a while I noticed I got a Low virtual memory warning. So I opened up task manger and saw the my PF usage was extremely high (around 1.5 GB) and I didn't have anything open or running. Then I restarted it and had the same problem later. After a while some times it will render the computer useless as I can't get anything to run as its so slow. Even as I'm typing this message my PF usage is slowly increasing. I also notice that my "Handles" are slowly increasing too. All that I've done to the computer recently is install a Dynex Wireless G USB adapter. I dont think it's the cause of the problem because when I take the USB adpater out the computer and leave it running.
It seems that my PC every Sunday morning receives this error arround 4:00 to 4:30 AM. I am not even on my PC at that time, I am sleeping, Is there somehow a way that I can trace what process maybe started arround that time to make my system boost up the virtual memory?
Just started getting this error message. [see attachment] It pops up seemingly at random; startup, browsing, even while I left the computer for awhile (no tasks running). The app is different most every time, tho (eg. <whatever>.exe).
Over the past 48 hours my computer has begun to give me the following error:A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.I have not installed any new programs in about two weeks.I have tried to fix this myself by running spyware scans (spybot and adaware) as well as AVG virus scans. All turned up nothing.I also run "clean-up" regularly to get rid of my temp internet files, etc and ran that as well.I also checked my hard disk for errors and had them automatically fixed. If there is any other information you need, please let me know and I will do my best to provide it asap.
Today, for the first time, when I signed on I get this big dialog box that states:winlogon.exe Application Error The instruction at 0x77f83aed referenced memory at 0x00440052. The memory could not be written. Click OK to terminate Click Cancel to debug.I tried BOTH Cancel and then OK with no results. When I clicked OK the programs would eventually come up, but I've found my application SCREEN SHOT DELUXE won't come up don't know if that is related or not. Also, had a little problem with Word Perfect on one boot, don't know EXACTLY what or IF these would be affected by this problem.I have a Dell 8250, Windows XP Pro, 512 RAM, 120 gig hard drive, 2.5 GHz.
I have installed on my system which has windows 2000 installed on it. It gives me a strange error UNABLE TO INITIALIZE MEMORY STREAM and gets stuck up. I have tried unstalling and restalling both of them ,but it isnt working.
