MSVCR80.dll - Autorun Application For The Game,

Dec 28, 2006

This problem was brought about by just an autorun application for the game, 'The Movies' but seeing as it's a system issue, I thought it'd be better of here. I've tried numerous solutions to the problem and to be honest, I've not got very far - I always seem to be getting an error of some kind and it's preventing the game from installing correctly.

Installation Failure Due To Missing File - Autoexec.nt?

Jul 9, 2005

I have recently tried to reinstall some oldish games (rainbow 6, Total Annhilation) and when you select install, an error pops up:

16 bit windows subsystem
C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application. Examination of that folder shows that I do not have a file called Autoexec.nt at all, is this correct? These games have run on this PC before and the error applies to multiple games suggesting a system problem. Is there a way of repairing or checking windows to replace this file. I did get a virus recently however Norton said it quarantined it - this might have
affected windows though prior to this I had noticed no differeance.

Cannot Access "msvcr80.dll"

Jul 21, 2006

Norton WinDoctor returned a list of "Missing files" which it was unable to repair. One referred to MSMSGR.EXE, and ten others referred to various ".exe" files in "Microsoft.NETFrameworkv.2.0.50727". The common factor in all 11 instances is "cannot access a necessary file, 'msvcr80.dll'". As far as I can tell, my Messenger program and other Microsoft programs in general (Windows XP Pro SP2, IE 6, etc.) all seem to working OK. Moreover, when I did a search for "msvcr80.dll" I located two instances of it on my computer, both in the C:WINDOWSWinSxS folder

It proceeded though, and after a few seconds flashed to another black screen, this time displaying the cursor. I'm guessing this is the logon screen, but nothing displays but the cursor. (Note that the video card and monitor are both fine...I tried swapping them out just in case.)

I had a search on this problem and realise it's prevalent but I haven't found anything that solves the problem yet.A few days ago I had the missing hal.dll problem come up. I went through various 'fixes' without any luck. However in the end I was able to reinstall XP Pro and keep the files from the previous install.Today, however, I'd left my PC for a bit and when I came back I put in a CD I wanted to look at but when I used explorer to look at the CD drive it only showed files from the previous CD i had in. Then suddenly I got a message saying something about input/output. The PC froze and I had to reset. I got an error message along the lines of missing NTLDR file.

Unable To Start PC .. SYSTEM File Missing.../Windows Could Not Start Because The Following File Is Missing Or Corrupt:

Feb 4, 2005

So my sister gets hold of a computer in the house and ruins it, and here is the dilemma I am facing: I turn on the computer and right away i come to this message....
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
windowssystem32configSYSTEM
Attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the Original CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.
So I enter the cd rom and press 'r' for repair, I choose C:windows, however before it can begin to repair it asks me for an 'Administration Password' which I have no idea of after many attempts.
I do not want to have to format the pc since I have some very important files on it. Any help is appreciated.

I first reformated my hard drive and Windows installation begun but I had to get out since the product key was invalid.I finally noticed I had the wrong disk. When I finally found the right disk with the right key, the old installation kept on coming back where I left it. How can I start all over again, with the reformating and reinstallation from scratch? I really don't know how to do this. Is there a special command at reboot? Do I have to put the CD in or not? I'm not sure anymore since it's been years since I've tried this.
