I recently bought an xp home edition disc and did a fresh install on my computer because my old installation that came with my Packard Bell iMedia got completely messed up over time Anyway, I have now no drivers for anything. I downloaded the correct nvidia driver, which was easy to locate and which fixed numerous problems. However, windows doesnt ever know the logitech speakers are there.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got that HP pavilion 503x that needs a fresh install of windows. it was running on xp home edition and i want to go with xp pro.my problem is that when i put in my xp pro cd (that i have used several times on other pcs) it reads it but doesnt boot it and goes directly to HP reinsatallation system for PC. I have like 8 cds for HP xp home installation. when i put in the disc 1, it reads it and boots it normally but the cds appears to be corrupted and at somee point the installation will crash. i havee tried copying the cd on a clean one but it doesnt see whats on it, it doesnt read it and keep ejecting the cd out. im confused, its the first time its happen, and i dont get it.
my winxp cd works perfectly fine on my other computer.its like the computer wont read anything but the HP cds.
I've been getting a lot of BSOD on my XP notebook (P4 3ghz, 784 ram). Sometimes it will say an ACPI.sys error, or a Bad Pool Caller, etc.I've done some looking and it seems it's a bad driver (well, other posts say that). How do you go about finding which driver it is? There's gotta be 100s of them.....

No sound is obvious but video controller is not. Video seems okay. Where do I find drivers for this machine. XP Pro, Home and MCE are different OS's ... as far as my experience. The drivers are not the same.

Then I did a Acronis recovery from a uniprocessor pc, and installed the correct mobo drivers. Still no issues. The I did a restart and a repair install to load the mobo sata and AHCI drivers. The pc restarts, but everytime I open a program from windows, for example Windows Explorer, or Software from the configuration screen, or Network Connections, I get a window with "Windows Installer", waiting for something to load. The version of windows on my old pc is sp3, after the repair install (I used a win xp slipstreamed with sp2), I see sp2 on my info screen of computer properties.

Except when it stopped running during install. it did this about 5 times. Then after, I plugged them in and get no sound. In the device manager under the legacy audio cards and codecs, it says "This device is working properly", but through the control panel under sounds and audio devices, it says there are no audio devices detected.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install xp home on my bros comp. he used to have win 2000 pro. I backed everything up and formatted the hard drive. (75 gig ntfs). This worked great. I pulled his hard drive out and put it in my comp (secondary) I then installed xp on it. This went fine, I was even able to boot all the way to xp. The problem comes in when I tried to move the hard drive back to his comp. I could not boot past the compaq screen. I got the error message

After installing Windows XP Home last night, I updated to SP3, installed drivers from toshiba.com. However, installing the driver for Ethernet controller didn't work from toshiba.com. Realtek ethernet is listed and working in device manager. This ethernet controller with yellow question mark maybe from the wireless card? The wireless xp utility is not in the system tray. I have an atheros internal wireless card. This is a Toshiba Satellite A25-s2792 laptop

In system's hardware devices under Sound, Video and game controllers there is: Audio Codecs, Legacy Audio Drivers, Legacy Video Capture devices, Media Control devices, SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio with a yellow exclamation mark and Standard game port and Video Codecs. I have uninstalled the Soundmax three time and everytime I re-installed, I would get the yellow in a triangle and a warning saying it is corrupt.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have successfully created a USB installation routine for Windows XP using Multiboot.cmd. The problem i am having is that the installation works perfectly on evry machine i have tried it on apart from Dell machines.
It gets as far as Setup is Starting Windows (after loading in all the background drivers) and then Blue Screens with error 0x0000007b. I have scoured the internet and found nothing of any use on this error code.
It does state that when installing from USB to ensure that no other USB devices are plugged in but the mouse and keyboard themselves are USB devices.
I've got three exactly the same computers (HP and also all the components are identical). They came with new, unformatted, HD's. When I got them I formatted the HD's and installed Windows XP Professional (no SP) and everything worked fine.I now wanted to make a fresh start, so I formatted the HD's once again and installed Windows XP Professional (SP3). After this install I noticed that a number of devices weren't working. I checked the device manager and saw the audio device, ethernet port and video controller in the list, but with a yellow exclamation mark. It saw the devices, but it didn't install the drivers.

The new hardware installer pops up, I chose the auto find drivers. Then it copied over called Initio. And now, my comp looks like it went back to the dark ages (ie: Win98). Programs wont start, i cant view pics, drivers are missing, i cant connect to the internet, no sound. I restarted the computer but cannot use the mouse of keyboard at all. therefore cannot use the computer. i have tried using the 6 disk setup for xp sp1 but when i select 1 for the drive it stops. i also cannot boot from the xp cd. i can however access the cd-rom using a boot floppy. but i do not know the actual names of the drives i am trying to reinstall.
