Cannot Access "msvcr80.dll"

Jul 21, 2006

Norton WinDoctor returned a list of "Missing files" which it was unable to repair. One referred to MSMSGR.EXE, and ten others referred to various ".exe" files in "Microsoft.NETFrameworkv.2.0.50727". The common factor in all 11 instances is "cannot access a necessary file, 'msvcr80.dll'". As far as I can tell, my Messenger program and other Microsoft programs in general (Windows XP Pro SP2, IE 6, etc.) all seem to working OK. Moreover, when I did a search for "msvcr80.dll" I located two instances of it on my computer, both in the C:WINDOWSWinSxS folder

MSVCR80.dll - Autorun Application For The Game,

Dec 28, 2006

This problem was brought about by just an autorun application for the game, 'The Movies' but seeing as it's a system issue, I thought it'd be better of here. I've tried numerous solutions to the problem and to be honest, I've not got very far - I always seem to be getting an error of some kind and it's preventing the game from installing correctly.

Unable To Access To Desktop / Changing Password To Get Access?

Jul 29, 2009

I brought her computer home to use for my school work. Someone signed into the Administrative / Owner name and somehow locked it. We don't have one of those password reset disk that the Windows website says. I have a disk that says "Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition System Recovery CD/DVD" I was told if I reinstalled Windows on the computer that it would erase the entire harddrive. There are alot of pictures on the computer, not to mention Microsoft Office, that I don't want to lose. My mom passed away suddenly and while I know her other passwords, this one is different which leads me to believe one of my younger cousins was messing with her computer and did something they didn't mean.Is there anyway possible to reset the password and use the computer without losing all the pictures on it?

ICANNOT ACCESS ENCRYPTED FILES - Access Denied

Jun 1, 2007

I did a terrible mistake today. Typically I install XP in C drive and keep My Documents folder in D drive. All of my hard disk drives (except the linux partitions) are NTFS. I encrypted the My Documents folder and all of its files and subfolders.Today I reinstalled XP in the C drive, after a quick format on it. I was unaware of the fact that what might be happened to My Documents folder. Now I can only view the files and folders inside My Documents folder. Neither I open any file, nor I decrypt those files. Windows is saying access denied.

Cant Access Folder - Access Denied

Apr 11, 2006

Files on my second hard drive were shared on the network (level 4, Network users could only read) and primary hard drive was reformatted and Windows XP sp2 was installed.(without the files being unshared) Now when trying to access the files the error "Access Denied" occurs and I cant access or delete the files (would really like to recover the data about four years worth of work taking up about 75% of the hard drive)

I am the Admin, and I can't change any of the folders propertys as I again get the "access denied" error. I've been looking everywhere for a solution to this, this is what I found from MS help (not very helpfull)
A file's permission may differ from the containing folder if one of the following conditions is true:

Can't Access DVD / CD Rom

They did work just fine till I put an old program on which conflicted with windows which said it couldn't be accessed so I unintalled it and then lost all the drives. I have since been able to get them back where they are recognized in My Computer and in the bios. In the bios they were always recognized but not in My Computer or in System files. In Device Manager they say all are working properly but still cannot use them. Can anyone tell me what else to do? I have followed all windows instructions but still can't use them.

Cannot Access Files

Jan 17, 2008

I have recently formatted my computer and reinstalled Windows. I had over 120 Gbs worth of video files I needed to keep, but since I only had about 20 Gbs of free HD space I created a new partition in the free space, put in as many files as would fit in it, expand the partition and repeated the procedure until all of the files were safely in the new partition. I then formatted the primary partition, installed Windows XP SP1 and then updated it fully (so now I have XP Home SP2 with the latest updates). Then I defragmented the C drive, merged the partitions and defragmented again. Now I cannot access (or actually use, since I can see them but I cannot open, move or delete) the files. Whenever I try to open the video files I get a error whichever media player I use (Windows Media Player, Winamp, VLC), and if I try to move or delete any of those files I get an error from Windows telling me to check whether the file is in use, write protected or if the disk is full or that I do not have enough permissions to perform that action. The only way I am able to move or delete those files is using a freeware app called "Unlocker", which reports that there are no programs currently using/locking those files (not even Explorer), but it does allow me to move or delete them (obviously I want to be able to open the files, not get rid of them).
There were other files and folders in the partition that I merged into C: (using Partition Magic) but only the files in the folder that had the movies (as well as some srt, sub and idx subtitle files) are affected by this issue.
