View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been getting full screen popups. They are promoting all nature of things, ringtones ,anti virus progams and of course a perfect cleanup progam. Thr header states the name of the item and always "Windows internet explorer."they cause no damage but are very annoying. All the popup stoppers seem to be in place and turned on.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having trouble with popups recently and can't seem to clear them. I updated both Spy Bot S&D and Ad-Aware, and ran some scans in safe-mode and a normal boot. I've also ran scans with Anti Virus which detected a couple of trojans. One of the main problems is a balloon popping up in the system tray (like in XP, although I'm using 2k Pro) telling me "Your computer might be at risk. Your virus protection status is bad. Spyware Activity Detected. Click this balloon to fix this problem". I'm fairly certain this is in fact some sort of spyware itself, and not a function of windows.Anyway, after running all of those scans I'm still having problems,

View 11 Replies View RelatedI recently was forced to do a re-install of XP to clean up a few bugs. The system has 3 hard drives, but since the reinstall, only the C: drive appears. The other two are nowhere to be found.I've tried mapping to them, but they just don't show up there as a mapping option.Anyone have any advice? When I added the extra hard drives I didn't have an available slot and did have to create a partition. I no longer have the software I had originally used though. Do I need it to make the 2 other drives visable?
View 1 Replies View RelatedLately my computer has been extremely slow, not just internet slow but onboard slow. For example, if I click on an application from the desktop it will sit there for 10-20 seconds before anything happens. Occasionally I'll click multiple times on something and nothing will happen then 30 seconds later it will open multiple instances of things. This delay has been happening with just about anything I click on, acting like the computer's busy doing something else when nothing else should be going on. I've looked in the task manager and the applications column will be blank

View 1 Replies View RelatedWindows XP Pro. I almost always use Mozilla Firefox to surf the net. My 10 year old daughter used my computer tonight to go to gaming sites. Now popups for gambling, sex, dating, virus removal software, spyware and malware removal, and herbal Viagra keep popping up. I've updated and scanned using Symantec Antivirus, Adaware, XCleaner Micro, Zone Alarm Internet Suite, and Spybot Search & Destroy. The most recent scan and fix using Spybot seems to have stopped them for at least the next few minutes. Below is my Hijack This log. Would someone please advise on what I can do to clean up my system? After about 5 hours of updating and scanning, I'm going to bed now. I will check back when I wake up.
View 7 Replies View RelatedThis is a Windows XP sp3 domain connected PC with one specific user, which all of a sudden takes 2.5mins to log in to the domain, Where it used to take just about 20 seconds. Other users on the same PC is all OK 20sec login This is not the usual where it hangs at "applying computer settings" or "personal settings" it's after those two has passed that it just hangs for a couple of minutes.
All i get is the mouse pointer (not even hourglass) and the desktop wallpaper for about 2-3 minutes. When it finally logs in everything is as quick as you would expect that spec of PC to be (1,6ghz Sempron, 1gb RAM, 40gb IDE-100 HDD)
Recently I am being inundated with annoying pop ups ususally advertising some product or other every time I log on to the internet and open a website. Can anyone please advise me how to stop these.

computer now takes half an hour to an hour to reboot. in doing so, it tells me that it does not do the startup and services. it is so slow it is unbelievable. sometimes even being so slow that the words we type take a few seconds to show up on the screen. after working for a time it will invariably hang. or it will shut itself down. in either case we have to reboot, it takes that half an hour to an hour again

View 10 Replies View RelatedI am running PC, Windows XP and recently had several viruses deleted from system. Problem started when running Internet Explorer and would receive an error tab every time stating IE must close. The data error was a mcsvrt.dll problem. Now when I start the computer it takes 10-15 minutes to boot completely and accessing Mozilla or any apps after about 3-4 mins takes ages. It runs so slow, something has it almost completely bogged down. I run spybot but after a while it freezes up

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhy is it taking my computer 3 minutes to boot to the desktop? As you can see from my signature below, I don't have exactly a slow poke machine. All drives are defragged weekly, the BIOS is set to boot off of the hard disk, and I only have the one OS installed. This thing use to boot to the desktop in 20 seconds.
View 12 Replies View RelatedWhenever I open a popup window, especially in Firefox, it always opens in a skinny window that's too small for the content. Sometimes I can resize it, but other times I can't, so I'm unable to see the content I wanted to see. Is there a way to reset the way browsers display popups so that they appear the way they were intended by the site's creator?

Out of the blue, my computer started getting slow. Sometimes its ok, and then it will be on the verge of freezing.. then get itself back together. I realized, when I start up, it takes FOREVER. It also shows this screen I have never seen before. Its completely black, and has a line of grey rectangles from side to side. and slowly loads across. When it is finally finished 10-15 minutes it will slowly start up in regular fashion

View 3 Replies View RelatedIm currently running a Dell Dimension 4600 running Windows Home edition. I recently scanned with ewido and ad-aware, i could not run the ad-aware in smart scan mode (my computer would go to blue screen with fatal system error and would shut down if i did).I accidentally download a winfixer application a few months ago. I quickly uninstalled it after after reaslizing that it was not part of the windows secruity suite.
I recently downloaded ad-aware and scanned comp, the files are now quarantined, but i still get pop ups while using internet explorer. The last scan verified that i had trojans, and data miners all which were quaratined, but i still get pop ups (even with those sites on my blocked list). Is there anything i can do to stop the pop ups, and to over all get rid of the infection i have on my computer?
all i can say is ewido and hijackthis are clean, but i keep getting popups for antivirus crap. i'm going to try to delete mozilla, and then re-install it as some of the popups mention it. here's what one of the popups said:
