Spyware Random Popups Come Up
Sep 12, 2007I got spyware on my computer and now random popups come up when ever I type. Also my run icon and my shut down icon dissapeared on my start menu.

Ton Of Popups - Spyware And Viruses - HP Laserjet 1100
Oct 19, 2005My friend has a major problem. She told me she was getting a ton of popups, so I went over there and cleaned out all the spyware and viruses, and all was well. Well, now shes saying that she is STILL getting popups, tons of them. I know I took them out because I surfed the internet myself, and I didnt get a single popup... Shes also saying that her printer (hp laserjet 1100) is printing printer garb (garbled text)..... Guys, its the third time I fixed this computer, And I'm just not sure what to do anymore....Computer A with windows 2000 has the HP Laserjet 1100 connected to it by Parallell port.

Sep 6, 2003There are two excellent spyware removal apps available and they are both FREE so there is no reason to not use them regularly. The two best apps there are for removing spyware are SpyBot Search & Destroy and Ad Aware. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU USE BOTH OF THESE APPS SINCE ONE FINDS WHAT THE OTHER MISSES AND VICE VERSA, YOU ARE NOT SAFE USING JUST ONE OF THEM. There is one other app that I HIGHLY recommend is for spyware prevention, SpywareBlaster. This app sets certain registry entries that prevent spyware from ever installing, it DOES NOT run in the background using any resources, you just set it and forget it. Once you have installed these three MUST HAVE apps you then need to update them and keep them up to date. I would recommend checking for updates weekly, it’s just like your antivirus app, you need to stay protected from the latest spyware out there. To update SpyBot just open the app from your start menu (use the advanced mode option) and select “search for updates” it will then show you what updates are available for download, always install all the updates. Another feature that SpyBot has is called “Immunize”, you will see an icon for it. Select the icon and under “Permanent Internet Explorer Immunity” select “Immunize” this works in the same way as SpywareBlaster in blocking new spyware. It also gives you the option of locking your hosts file against hijackers, I highly recommend using this option as well. To update Ad Aware just open it and select “Check for updates now”. For SpywareBlaster it is mostly the same, open it up and select “Check for updates” once you update this you then must select “select all” and then “Protect against checked items” so that the updates you just did take effect. Anything these apps find is spyware and should be removed, if you choose not to remove what is found then you have no one to blame if your pc crashes due to spyware or your privacy is invaded (including these companies stealing your credit card number and identity

So far I have tried to run Spybot S&D, Registry mechanic, ewido anti-spyware, Spyware Doctor and SpywareBlaster all of these programs seize when carrying out a scan and I have no option but to close the pc down with the power button. Aug 20, 2006Windows XP Pro. I almost always use Mozilla Firefox to surf the net. My 10 year old daughter used my computer tonight to go to gaming sites.Now popups for gambling, sex, dating, virus removal software, spyware and malware removal, and herbal Viagra keep popping up. I've updated and scanned using Symantec Antivirus, Adaware, XCleaner Micro, Zone Alarm Internet Suite, and Spybot Search & Destroy. The most recent scan and fix using Spybot seems to have stopped them for at least the next few minutes. Below is my Hijack This log. Would someone please advise on what I can do to clean up my system? After about 5 hours of updating and scanning, I'm going to bed now. I will check back when I wake up.

Message Centre Popups

I recently scanned with ewido and ad-aware, i could not run the ad-aware in smart scan mode (my computer would go to blue screen with fatal system error and would shut down if i did).I accidentally download a winfixer application a few months ago. I quickly uninstalled it after after reaslizing that it was not part of the windows secruity suite.
I recently downloaded ad-aware and scanned comp,the files are now quarantined, but i still get pop ups while using internet explorer.The last scan verified that i had trojans, and data miners all which were quaratined, but i still get pop ups (even with those sites on my blocked list). Is there anything i can do to stop the pop ups, and to over all get rid of the infection i have on my computer?

Jan 18, 2005I've been having trouble with popups recently and can't seem to clear them. I updated both Spy Bot S&D and Ad-Aware, and ran some scans in safe-mode and a normal boot. I've also ran scans with Anti Virus which detected a couple of trojans.One of the main problems is a balloon popping up in the system tray (like in XP, although I'm using 2k Pro) telling me "Your computer might be at risk. Your virus protection status is bad. Spyware Activity Detected. Click this balloon to fix this problem". Gateway Laptop / Popups Started Coming Up, And It Kept Freezing
Oct 20, 2009My grandmother bought a crappy old gateway laptop with XP on it (for 3 times what it was worth) from some guy she met. The whole thing was screwed up and practically unusable when she got it so she asked me to fix it. I already set up a working admin account and made it so it can do basic functions and everything last week. I've spent a lot of time on the microsoft websites help section trying different methods to fix different problem, finally got it to work with internet. But, assuming there are two versions, I think they installed the desktop version of WinXP on it.. It doesn't have any of the normal differences an XP laptop has vs an xp desktop, like it has no battery reading, and refuses to acknowledge it's a laptop and has a battery thus refuses to charge the battery, so it must be plugged in to work. I don't know the first thing to how to fix that. Also, I'm pretty sure these things come with wifi, it's not that old, it's a M405 like this one. It has no indication of capability to connect to wireless internet, so I have to keep the ethernet cable in at all times too.IE fails and as soon as I got it connected to the net 1000 popups started coming up, and it kept freezing going to websites and I kept having to ctrl+alt+del it, so I got safari and it's working a lot more smoothly.

Jun 29, 2005My brother has Win XP Home Edition.2 days ago, he was surfing the net and was bombarded with 15-20 popups. While trying to close them, his computer froze. He rebooted, but he no longer has ANY Icons on his desktop nor does he have a start bar. Even in Safe Mode they aren't there. His desktop wallpaper shows, and you can ctrl+alt+del and get the task manager & go to programs that way, but that's about it. If he goes to the I-net thru task manager, he can get to his home page (msn), but is unable to check his hotmail (clicking on it doesn't do anything, it just doesn't go to the new page)
