Dec 3, 2007When I click a link, the windows icon in the top right moves. As soon as I move my mouse that icon stops and I have no idea why this happens. It does not happen all the time and I have played around with it to isolate which windows and when it happens.....but it's not just my computer, but my work computer as well.

Jan 7, 2005Right after my computer is finishes booting, suddenly there's a prompt telling me that Internet Explorer wants to change my Internet Protection settings. Then it asks me if I want to give IE permission to change these settings. Of course not (I think?). And the problem is still there. I connect with Verizon DSL, but when I go on Internet Explorer, the browser doesn't work properly- it says "Web Page Unavavailable While Offline"- what's up with that?! I even checked the status of my connnection- "Connected"! It's just retarded.

Sep 3, 2006my sister tried to get on the internet today (we have dialup - modem connection) but it wouldnt go.After a bit of tinkering around, I discovered her modem isnt even being recognized by her PC, that is, on the list of installed hardware theres no "modem" sub-list at all.Its always worked until now, there hasent been any major changes to the system, and the modem is still installed and secured properly.I THINK it may be caused by a virus, I done a virus scan on her PC with RemoveIT Pro, and there were 3 viruses, I removed them hoping it would help, but it didnt. I also done a system restore to an earlier time, didnt help.This happened to my PC a few times before, and the only way I could fix it was to do a whole system recovery...but I cant find my sisters recovery disc anywhere, and I dont have a Windows XP CD for a clean install or anything, so I thought about seeing if I could activate her modem in the BIOS, but her PC is diffrent than mine and I cant seem to find it (pushing F1/other buttons while its starting up dosent do anything)

Anyways everything is fine but in shutdown there are only 2 options - turn off and restart. The standby option is grayed. how do i activate it. Mar 2, 2009I did a systeme restore, after it finished and restarted it came back to my explorer (desktop) and nothing loaded. I ctrl+alt+deleted and some things where running in the background.I "hard" restarted my computer and it still took me back to the blank explorer (desktop).I ran a new task and opened up firefox, when it poped up my desktop poped up and everthing in the task manager loaded but was very slow and nothing worked and it just froze. I then tried a different restore point and the same problem countinued.I then put in the windows repair disk and tried to fix the boot and still nothing. If I turn on the computer and put it into safe mode the desk top will load. But in normal mode it wont for a very long time and when it does it doesnt work.

I didn't do anything but restart my computer and clear my internet temp files, cookies and history, then I did a System Restore and when I was done with the restore all my saved game files were as they were before I restored my computer. So did System Restore actually restore my computer. The last time I restored my computer I lost some saved games, but this time I didn't. Why?

When I open Internet Explorer, my home page (www.google.com) opens.When it is finished loading, it automatically redirets to yahoo mail login page. The catch is, all my browsers windows that are open will be changed too. If I hit "stop" before the page is loaded, then hit "refresh", this action does not occur. I have Microsoft updates automatically downloade do my computer. I have the latest MacAfee anti-virus on my computer and have run the latest scan. I have run Microsoft beta spy-ware, ad aware and yahoo's version. I am not seeing anything.

My 10 year old daughter used my computer tonight to go to gaming sites.Now popups for gambling, sex, dating, virus removal software, spyware and malware removal, and herbal Viagra keep popping up. I've updated and scanned using Symantec Antivirus, Adaware, XCleaner Micro, Zone Alarm Internet Suite, and Spybot Search & Destroy. The most recent scan and fix using Spybot seems to have stopped them for at least the next few minutes. Below is my Hijack This log. Would someone please advise on what I can do to clean up my system? After about 5 hours of updating and scanning, I'm going to bed now. I will check back when I wake up.

Apr 10, 2006Im currently running a Dell Dimension 4600 running Windows Home edition. I recently scanned with ewido and ad-aware, i could not run the ad-aware in smart scan mode (my computer would go to blue screen with fatal system error and would shut down if i did).I accidentally download a winfixer application a few months ago. I quickly uninstalled it after after reaslizing that it was not part of the windows secruity suite.
I recently downloaded ad-aware and scanned comp,the files are now quarantined, but i still get pop ups while using internet explorer.The last scan verified that i had trojans, and data miners all which were quaratined, but i still get pop ups (even with those sites on my blocked list). Is there anything i can do to stop the pop ups, and to over all get rid of the infection i have on my computer?

Jan 18, 2005I've been having trouble with popups recently and can't seem to clear them. I updated both Spy Bot S&D and Ad-Aware, and ran some scans in safe-mode and a normal boot. I've also ran scans with Anti Virus which detected a couple of trojans.One of the main problems is a balloon popping up in the system tray (like in XP, although I'm using 2k Pro) telling me "Your computer might be at risk. Your virus protection status is bad. Spyware Activity Detected. Click this balloon to fix this problem". I'm fairly certain this is in fact some sort of spyware itself, and not a function of windows.Anyway, after running all of those scans I'm still having problems,
