Popups- Computer Might Be At Risk Bad Virus Protection
Jan 18, 2005
I've been having trouble with popups recently and can't seem to clear them. I updated both Spy Bot S&D and Ad-Aware, and ran some scans in safe-mode and a normal boot. I've also ran scans with Anti Virus which detected a couple of trojans. One of the main problems is a balloon popping up in the system tray (like in XP, although I'm using 2k Pro) telling me "Your computer might be at risk. Your virus protection status is bad. Spyware Activity Detected. Click this balloon to fix this problem". I'm fairly certain this is in fact some sort of spyware itself, and not a function of windows.Anyway, after running all of those scans I'm still having problems,
I'm running into a High Risk virus alert with Trojan.Vundo The object name is C:WINDOWSsystem32mljgd.dll --i've tried deleting it in safe mode through regedit but it always comes back up after i refresh.
Just installed xp on my home built system and had some problems. I need to download something to help with the problems but I don't want to download it without virus protection. Please give me a link to a good free virus protection program so I finish fixing my PC.
I just opened the security center and see that virus protection is not found How do I turn it on ? I went to microsoft downloads and cant find the virus part of security center. I did find anti spyware but no anti virus.
I have a Dell Inspiron B130 laptop and the virus protection and the firewall went down, so they have not worked for a few months and i got a bunch of viruses and spywere. (i don't know how to spell that, a little pc illiterate) but there is no hope for getting rid of it. my internet barely works so i am lucky i can ask right now. any help? i was going to do a full system restore but forgot how, i put all my important files on cds so i dont care if i loose my documents and stuff.
I have a nightmare with my notebook which is installed with Norton Internet Security. On booting up the notebook, a triangular icon(inside with an exclamation mark or an X)appeared on the bottom right bar. The icon appeared with a message to warn me of spyware attack. On clicking the icon, it took me to IE for http://www.spylocked.com/?aff=334 or http://www.wayofprotection.com/soft/. I also found my IE is installed with a 'Security Toolbar 7.1'.
In the Control Panel, I found a program 'Internet Explorer Secure Bar' which I wanted to delete. However, once I click the 'change/move' button to delete the program, it required me to reboot before deleting but on reboot, no deletion of the program took place. I want to know how to delete the program.I also want to know how to delete the icon on the right bottom.
I decided to try the Avira Personal Free Anti-Virus on my computer. Well, in the main inferface it only says that anti-virus is on, but i dont see anything about anti-spyware on. However on the website it says the free version gives anti-spyware so I am guessing in the program when it says Anti-Virus, it means anti-virus and anti-spyware right? On the website i saw it did say is gives both. Please help as if it has no anti-spyware, then i wont use it.
I am looking for security software and I was wondering if there is something like a bundle with all sorts of useful applications? Like a firewall, virus protection and so on? Can anyone help?
when I start or restart my computer sometimes pops up an icon in the bottm right corner and a balloon saying my computer is at risk. I open it up and it opens the security center and it says I don't have any virus protection. I do and the one I have is Comodo antivirus. I know windows does not recognise this and I hit recomendations and I check the little box that says I am monitiring this myself. The problem is that in a few days it will pop this up again. Its not a big deal but it just makes me mad that I have to do this.
I have been getting full screen popups. They are promoting all nature of things, ringtones ,anti virus progams and of course a perfect cleanup progam. Thr header states the name of the item and always "Windows internet explorer."they cause no damage but are very annoying. All the popup stoppers seem to be in place and turned on.
when i come on to my computer i sign on to it like normal i get about 4-5 pop ups about 5 minutes after my computer shuts down and restarts i can go in under guest when i turn computer on and it stays on .but get pop ups.computer will stay on no matter if im under guest or the regular way if usb cable us unpluged
The thing constantly appears at the bottom right corner of my screen.I'm not the original PC owner (was second hand) so I'm not sure about the origins of the software. However, I'm not interested, and would like to hide this message. When I visit the site it sends me to, it won't let me select the option to simply hide it.
I have created a folder in February 2009. Inside I have a Compressed (zipped) Folder containing 4 files that can only be opened with a password. Never had any problems until today: When I click on the zipped folder I get the following message: this page has an unspecified potential security risk. Would you like to continue? Of course I click yes and it will open without any problems at all. I also scanned with MacAfee anti virus and it is ok. If I move the all folder with copy/paste to drive D and the problem its gone.
Do you have any ideas?? Maybe happen to you too Yesterday I did tried to move the all DOCUMENTS (from the desktop) to drive D by using the Microsoft facility: right click on the folder-movebut at the end only My Pictures and My Music went on drive D and when I looked on the documents on C was nothing there. At this point I sent everything back (always with Microsoft facility) to the original location and since then I encountered the mentioned problem but all documents are back. And I was told this is so easy to do.
I had a trojan Virus in the computer. I think that I got rid of it, but I am not sure could anyone that can read a log please tell me if there is anything else left in the computer. The computer now doesn't stay on-line it disconnects itself. I called the company that provides me with my internet service, and they said that I need a filter for the phone line. The person told me that, that will take care of the problem of the internet disconnecting. I think that it could be the virus I had in the computer. I wasn't able to get on-line for at least a week, I had gone and checked the disk for errors and finally the anti-virus program was able to find the virus's.
512MB, 80GB Hard Drive, Windows XP SP2, IE 7.0. Everything runs extremely slow, even downloading HighJackThis. Some stuff on his computer I feel is highjacking and adding malware, spyware, etc. An example is PalTalk. You guys did an outstanding job on fine tuning my main computer and would appreciate any help you can give me on computer 2
Windows XP Pro. I almost always use Mozilla Firefox to surf the net. My 10 year old daughter used my computer tonight to go to gaming sites. Now popups for gambling, sex, dating, virus removal software, spyware and malware removal, and herbal Viagra keep popping up. I've updated and scanned using Symantec Antivirus, Adaware, XCleaner Micro, Zone Alarm Internet Suite, and Spybot Search & Destroy. The most recent scan and fix using Spybot seems to have stopped them for at least the next few minutes. Below is my Hijack This log. Would someone please advise on what I can do to clean up my system? After about 5 hours of updating and scanning, I'm going to bed now. I will check back when I wake up.
Recently I am being inundated with annoying pop ups ususally advertising some product or other every time I log on to the internet and open a website. Can anyone please advise me how to stop these. When I turn on my PC, a message pops up; Windows - No Disk Exception Processing Message c0000013 Parameters 75b6bf7c 4 75b6bf7c 75b6bf7c.I cannot close the dialog box, or end the process. Please help me.
I have a dell inspiron 531 desk top windows XP2000 service pack 3 and IE8 I just added Avira , and everything seems a little slower but works, what I didn't know is my fire wall is in windows essentials an they are both running Avira also ,and I do know its not to good to have conflicts between 2 malware protectors, should I dump Avira or essentials? I kinda of hop you tell me to keep essentials because its true Microsoft.
I scanned through the past posts and didn't see anything on this recently. (which surprised me.I'm running a Dell xps T500 with Windows XP SP2 and IE7 Browser. I'm on a home network (cable) with ethernet and using Norton 360 for the protection suite. I also have Webroot SpySweeper and all udpates have been completed. All current scans have been done as well. MS updates were installed via auto update and now IE 7 gives me the error "IE cannot display the webpage" which stops me from getting to any other website (so I can download Mozilla ). I have gone out to the MS site and run through the troubleshooting options there:1) Can't view another webpage2)Network diagnostics reveal no problems3)Reset the modem/routers4)Deleted Browsing History5)Used the No Add-Ons Mode6)Disabled Norton 7)Tested the connected in safe mode, still got the error8)No third party conflicts9)Checked the device manager for issues, and found none10)Finally, reset the IE defaults, rebooted and still got the stupid error
Whenever I open a popup window, especially in Firefox, it always opens in a skinny window that's too small for the content. Sometimes I can resize it, but other times I can't, so I'm unable to see the content I wanted to see. Is there a way to reset the way browsers display popups so that they appear the way they were intended by the site's creator?
Computer starts getting little popups in the system tray saying the computer is infected, and spysherrif and virus Axe automatically download. I ran everything I had in safe mode, as well as smitten. There were 4 registry items that ewido could not remove though, it kept getting an error.
I have two weird popups that says "my computer is in danger"It says window security center has detected spy/ad ware. It says I should click on the popup to install protection. When I click it nothing happens.I have Macafee and have ran it and remove some virus. Even after restarting I still get these popups. I found some info http://www.theeldergeek.com/security_center.ht
Before getting Win XP, I used Zone Alarm..it served me well.I used to test how good ZA was by using the tests found at www.grc.com. My PC always passed.I just tested my computer with grc's 'leak test' and it FAILED! My PC was penetrated.Does this mean that the firewall provided by Win XP is not doing it's job? If so, should I go back to ZA and disable XP's firewall? (2) I also just heard that Windows Media Player is also a good vehicle for spyware to infiltrate my PC. How can I stop this short of uninstalling the program?
