Wants to play 2 games Stronghold Crusaders and Empire Earth but, we can't get them to play . When I tried to uninstall both games I get error the supported file could not be installed, could not find file. They do show up in my add/remove programs and when I do a search they are there. Therefore I want to just uninstall them and reinstall them and maybe that would work.

Unable to jet debug. I contacted Microsoft support who advise to do a repair install of xp, but I did this once before, on a different pc, and lost all the startmenu shortcuts to my installed programs, so am a bit loathe to do this, also as a test I created another administrative account and I don't get this issue. The simple solution (but not the most convenient) would be to use this other account, but is there another way around this?

I ran setup.exe to install Visual Studio 6.0 using DVD. It crashed. I thought DVD is bad or corrupted and used some other CD. Still Visual Studio6.0 installation wizard is crashing. When it crashed, a dialog box comes upand asks whether I can send report to Microsoft or debug. I sent report to Microsoft. Nothing happend more than that. I tried to debug using visualstudio .net. View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a program from Ebay and after installing it I noticed it didn't have a uninstall. I used my add & remove program to uninstall the program but not all of it got uninstalled. I deleted the folder and then did a search in my registry for anything with refernce to the programs name "Ebay's Blackthorne" and deleted all entries with that name.Every time I reboot windows tries to install something for Blackthorne and I have to keep cancelling it out.

Now each time I open any program I get a box titles "Run As" with the following message: "Which user account do you want to use" It has two radio button choices, one is me (current user) and my log on name and the other would be if I wanted to select another user. It also has a box to select saying "protect my computer from unauthorized program activity". I have to respond to this box before opening any program and I cannot find a way to stop it from appearing. How do I get rid if this?

Thing is though when I go into the folder I see five files totaling 192k in size with names like "java run time environment 1.5.0" But when I go outside of the folder and click on properties it tells me there are 22 files in there totalling 22.2mb in there. Whats up with this? I have "show all files" enabled under hidden folders. Why can't I see these files?

Anyway, when I try to download the Java from Wild Tangent (MS) and install it this is the error that I get, "The Microsoft Virtual Machine you are attempting to install is a protected system component and can only be updated with a later release of the operating system or service pack." When I click OK, it says that the Installation is complete but windows doesn't detect any Java. Pogo will not work with either of the Javas that I have tried to download and I'm understanding from this error that this is the reason.

Clicking OK or CANCEL allows me to go on - but something is wrong.Sometimes I just get a WINDOWS SCREEN but the items in the TASK BAR are blue boxes rather than Start, etc. and at other times the "Blue Screen" shows up.
I am getting extremely annoyed with the message that keeps popping up every thirty seconds (see attachment). I don't know why it's searching for some removable media (I think) when my thumb drive is still inserted. I have been having similar problems since the stupid Geek Squad told me I needed a new hard drive and then named it the "H" drive for some reason; now from time-to-time when I try to run programs which (I think) used to be based off my C drive I'll get one of these or a C+++ runtime error window.How can I make this stop? I'm running Windows XP SP3. on an HP desktop. All help is appreciated, as this is a highly annoying problem right now.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIn the past few months I've added a 512 stick of RAM and replaced the hard drive in my five year old laptop with a brand new Seagate Momentus. The laptop itself is a Pentium M 1.8 running Windows XP Home (Service Pack 3). Also in the past few months I've started receiving BSOD's for Machine Check Exception errors. The numbers tend to vary, though I can never catch one long enough to write them down, as the system flashes the error screen and then shuts off or reboots.
I've run MemTest as recently as this afternoon and the results came back with no errors found in the memory. I ran a SMART test from SpeedFan on the new HD and it was deemed perfectly fit. Still, I can't shake the feeling there's something going on with the new hardware in this laptop, as I had never even heard of a Machine Check Exception since I never got one until some time after installing the parts.
I notice I get this specific error when playing a computer game (Diablo 2, for Christ's sake, so the game isn't particularly taxing!) or watching video, ie intensive activities. It never happens while just browsing the net. I am not overclocking the processor. In fact, I'm undervolting it to keep heat down, though I've turned off Notebook Hardware Control to go back to normal voltage setting and I still get the Machine Check Exception errors with the same frequency.

Archived from groups: microsoft.public.windowsxp.newusers (More info?) I downloaded XP twice when I first set up my laptop. I just left it that way for years but now I am having problems with one of the copies and would like to remove it from my system. Does anyone have the fix? Needless to say I'm not real computer savvy.

finished I can't see it in that folder. Actually I can see hidden files
and so, but my downloaded file I can't. Where can I turn off this
behaviour, so that i see those files???
