Content of directory "Downloaded Program files" is invisible. How can I do
it visible? I checked that in Folder options "Show hidden files..." is
selected
and " Display the content of system folders" also is checked.
Is it safe to delete files from the Downloaded Program file once the
programs are installed?
I have found 2 damaged files-C:WINDOWSsystem32luctl.dll and
C:WINDOWSCPBRKPIE.OCX .I tried to change this screen saver my daughter
installed but i keep getting program not responding.I could not find screen
saver in add or remove programs and am afraid i messed something up trying to
change the screen saver.
How to make Status Bar permanently visible:
1.Open just one window of IE.
2.Click the "View" menu, then "Status Bar"
3.Hold down Ctrl while clicking the X to close the window.
4.Open My Computer
5.Click the "View" menu, then "Status Bar"
6.Click the "Tools" menu, then "Folder Options"
7.Click the "View" tab
8.Click "Apply to all folders"
9.Click "OK"
10.Close Windows Explorer.

Under OS win98se regarding winXPpro windows folder.Online virus scan says there is two adware programs, WUpd & Maxifiles under windowsDownloaded program files. Thing is though when I go into the folder I see five files totaling 192k in size with names like "java run time environment 1.5.0" But when I go outside of the folder and click on properties it tells me there are 22 files in there totalling 22.2mb in there. Whats up with this? I have "show all files" enabled under hidden folders. Why can't I see these files?

I used my add & remove program to uninstall the program but not all of it got uninstalled. I deleted the folder and then did a search in my registry for anything with refernce to the programs name "Ebay's Blackthorne" and deleted all entries with that name.Every time I reboot windows tries to install something for Blackthorne and I have to keep cancelling it out.

View 3 Replies View RelatedDownloaded an anti-virus program (Symantec Norton System Works 2005), found I did not like it then uninstalled the program. Now each time I open any program I get a box titles "Run As" with the following message: "Which user account do you want to use" It has two radio button choices, one is me (current user) and my log on name and the other would be if I wanted to select another user. It also has a box to select saying "protect my computer from unauthorized program activity". I have to respond to this box before opening any program and I cannot find a way to stop it from appearing. How do I get rid if this?

How would it have gotten there? The only programs that I have recently installed are Webroot Spy Sweeper 4.0.3.363. Sony Picture Package 1.5 (the software that allows me to view and copy video from my new Sony Handycam DCR-TRV480 camcorder to my computer) The Divx.dll file shows version 6.0.0.1571 and a modified date of 07-15-2005 and shows it to be associated with DivXNetworks.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been dealing with Java problems.I downloaded, deleted and redownloaded the Java program from Sun Microsystems or something like that and I know you don't speak highly of Wild Tangent as one time you had me delete it from a highjack list with another issue. Anyway, when I try to download the Java from Wild Tangent (MS) and install it this is the error that I get, "The Microsoft Virtual Machine you are attempting to install is a protected system component and can only be updated with a later release of the operating system or service pack." When I click OK, it says that the Installation is complete but windows doesn't detect any Java. Pogo will not work with either of the Javas that I have tried to download and I'm understanding from this error that this is the reason.

The problems is that you can still see it if you go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. Is there any way to make it invisible there and other places where it can be seen as installed? I've found tons of software to just "hide it away with a keystroke," like when you're trying to "hide it from your boss." In that case what you can do is just use Alt+Tab and Presto !
I am the administrator of several computers, all using WinXP Prof. After installing a program as an administrator, how can I make this program accessible by "limited user" accounts. I am able to use the program when I log in as "administrator" but not when I log in as "limited user". I don't see the icon on the desk top nor in the list of "All Programs".

I can't see my downloaded files. If I download a file and select a location too, then after the download is
finished I can't see it in that folder. Actually I can see hidden files
and so, but my downloaded file I can't. Where can I turn off this
behaviour, so that i see those files???

Since upgrading my computer and reinstalling Windows XP Home with all upgrades, I haven't been able to run executable downloaded files (most recently openoffice but also Google Earth Pro trial). The files download properly but when I try to run them them, I get the message "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."
I'm using IE beta 7 but have tried the same process using Firefox. All Windows Updates are complete. Running Norton AV 2003 and NVidia firewall set to Antihacking only.
When I download files using ie the download window indicates the files are downloaded but they are not there. I've been able to see the files being deleted instantaneously after being downloaded.

When I click on either of the first two options, however, the box simply clicks and unclicks with no actions following it. Almost as if you click "Post" in a forum, but you hold the click on it and move the cursor elsewhere, stopping the system from performing that action. On some days, I can get my system to download about 5 files before I can no longer click "Save" or "Open".

I have downloaded, a new batch of .jpg files from a trustworthy site that I have been using without any problem for a couple of years. With the latest batch of files I find that whenever I try to open any one with PaintShop Pro, I get an Open File - Security Warning asking me if I really want to open it from an unknown publisher.
If I check the file's properties, I find it is blocked. I can unblock each file individually, either by changing the property or by checking an option on the Security Warning.
I can see no reason for this happening suddenly. I have found various possible solutions proposed (but for slightly different environments or file-types), but they do not work for me. Is there any really proven solution for either preventing the blocking in the first place or removing the block en block?
Just reformatted my system and every game that i download ...when i open it it says file corrupted ....possible file transfer error.

These are some messages I get for various reasons. 'It does not look like your system is configured to properly view this file. You can continue but the file you are trying to view may look "wrong". For version PSP 7, you need MSVCRT10.DLL and MSVCRT.DLL loaded in both Windows and Windows/Systems Directories. This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options Control Panel. Files that are required for Windows to run properly must be copied to DLL Cache. Insert your Windows XP Proffesional Service Pack 2 CD now.
