ALL Downloaded Files Are CORRUPTED?
Feb 22, 2006Just reformatted my system and every game that i download ...when i open it it says file corrupted ....possible file transfer error.

Every Downloaded File Gets CRC Error (Corrupted File)?
Oct 12, 2009I have had this problem for quite a time now. Everytime I try to download a file it is corrupt.For instance, I tried downloading a movie clip off rapidshare and although its only 3 files and 300MB, it always came as CRC error check failed. I tried downloading it from multiple servers of rapidshare but had no success. I also tried downloading other files yet I am having no success downloading anything.

Oct 18, 2009I am running winxp . due to virus infection in my machine I lost all the .pst file and also Thunderbird inbox files. All the start program shortcut was also wiped out. I was running AVG anti virus. Now I removed AVG and installed Microsoft supplied security essential software. It detected following virus ware and removed subsequently I want to recover deleted .pst and thunderbird mails.

finished I can't see it in that folder. Actually I can see hidden files
and so, but my downloaded file I can't. Where can I turn off this

Can't Run Downloaded Files
Apr 9, 2006Since upgrading my computer and reinstalling Windows XP Home with all upgrades, I haven't been able to run executable downloaded files (most recently openoffice but also Google Earth Pro trial). The files download properly but when I try to run them them, I get the message "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."
I'm using IE beta 7 but have tried the same process using Firefox. All Windows Updates are complete. Running Norton AV 2003 and NVidia firewall set to Antihacking only.
Downloaded Files Not Found
Jun 11, 2006When I download files using ie the download window indicates the files are downloaded but they are not there. I've been able to see the files being deleted instantaneously after being downloaded.

May 11, 2007When I try to download a file from the Internet, I get a box sasying "Run/Open", "Save", and "Cancel" as always. When I click on either of the first two options, however, the box simply clicks and unclicks with no actions following it. Almost as if you click "Post" in a forum, but you hold the click on it and move the cursor elsewhere, stopping the system from performing that action. On some days, I can get my system to download about 5 files before I can no longer click "Save" or "Open".

Oct 28, 2008I run Firefox 3.0.3 under Windows XP SP2 Home.
I have downloaded, a new batch of .jpg files from a trustworthy site that I have been using without any problem for a couple of years. With the latest batch of files I find that whenever I try to open any one with PaintShop Pro, I get an Open File - Security Warning asking me if I really want to open it from an unknown publisher.
If I check the file's properties, I find it is blocked. I can unblock each file individually, either by changing the property or by checking an option on the Security Warning.
I can see no reason for this happening suddenly. I have found various possible solutions proposed (but for slightly different environments or file-types), but they do not work for me. Is there any really proven solution for either preventing the blocking in the first place or removing the block en block?

These are some messages I get for various reasons. 'It does not look like your system is configured to properly view this file. You can continue but the file you are trying to view may look "wrong". For version PSP 7, you need MSVCRT10.DLL and MSVCRT.DLL loaded in both Windows and Windows/Systems Directories. This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options Control Panel. Files that are required for Windows to run properly must be copied to DLL Cache. Insert your Windows XP Proffesional Service Pack 2 CD now.

a lot of files for my PSP program. I have notices in properties it is
saying the file is blocked and I can unblock by clicking etc.

Delay In Saving Downloaded Files
Apr 5, 2006When online, all downloaded files I save take almost exactly 30 seconds to save to their location. Download speed is normal, the files are already downloaded. The only problem is the delay in saving. This happened all of a sudden. No new programs were added or settings changed. File size has no bearing - 2KB takes the same time to save as 200KB. Same delay for saving photos, html pages & images saved by a screen capture program.
Offline all graphics capabilities & copying is normal. System is clean, no virus, spyware etc.
HD is de-fragged, page file is de-fragged, all temp files emptied. Has happened before & a re-installation of XP fixes it, but I'd like to find out what's causing it?
Can't Open Downloaded Files...only Save Them
Jan 19, 2008I have Windows XP. When I download a file (WP, pdf, etc.), and it asks me to open or save it, it will only let me save it. If I try to open it, it seems to download, but then the relevant application never opens, and I get a message that I may not have the appropriate permission. So I have to save it, then open the application myself, then open the saved file.

I came across a folder WINDOWSSoftwareDistributionDownload which has taken some 4-5GB space. I was wondering if these files are the ones downloaded by MS Update and can they be safely deleted? I can save 4-5GB if those are removed.

Can't Delete Downloaded Game Files
Oct 3, 2010I downloaded some computer game files and now I am sorry and want to delete them but can't find the files that support them. The shortcut icons appear only on the fifth line of the Mozilla and I.E. browzer home pages. The address line shows the files at http://retrogamer.iwon.com/home.jhtml?tbdd=9197. The files do not appear under C: anywhere and the search function and Control Panel add/remove can't locate them either.

Aug 30, 2007I'm working on a Compaq desktop system and have run into something that has me stumped. The system is XP Home-SP2 with all patches, etc .It's my understanding that ActiveX controls such as Shockwave, Java, QuickTime, Ewido, etc show up in c:windowsdownloaded program files. (That's also where they appear on my HP laptop, and there's a status column that shows "installed") On the desktop system however, there are no activex controls in c:windowsdownloaded program files.....and no "status" column. Instead, there's a folder called "Conflict.1" and a bunch of *.dll and *.inf files. The desktop does have Shockwave, Ewido, Java, etc. installed though.
The system belongs to a friend and when I received the desktop, there was no AV or anti-malware software on it. It had a host of both; however, I have cleaned it.
Does this seem odd to anyone but me? Any ideas?

Jul 23, 2007I did an in-place repair of XP MCE 2003. I had previously installed all MS security fixes and updates, the list in my "installed programs" showed about 70 or 80 updates. The in-place repair gave me an unscrambled registry, and an unpatched XP install, without touching my installed programs or data. A good thing, overall, it fixed my major problem.
I immediately went to get all the updates -- 76 of them downloaded. I don't let Updater install automatically -- I get all the updates, but decide which to install because I got a bad version of IE7 that took me a long time to delete and recover from, but I installed ALL security updates. I generally use FireFox, so I didn't view IE7 as a security update. Anyway, it installed one or two updates, and then said the rest could not be installed....

Sep 25, 2006Under OS win98se regarding winXPpro windows folder.Online virus scan says there is two adware programs, WUpd & Maxifiles under windowsDownloaded program files. Thing is though when I go into the folder I see five files totaling 192k in size with names like "java run time environment 1.5.0" But when I go outside of the folder and click on properties it tells me there are 22 files in there totalling 22.2mb in there. Whats up with this? I have "show all files" enabled under hidden folders. Why can't I see these files?

and start menu option I wanted to see if my desktop icons were locked. So i
browsed around and when i did i saw all the icons left from old software
programs i do not and have not used as a matter of fact some programs i did
not have no more than 24 hours because i did not like it at all.. My
question is how do i safely remove these folders and files in my program
files and how do I get rid of these icons. It is disturbing to know you
uninstalled thru add/remove programs yet there is still stuff in the program
files under YET GET THIS the name of the software program i just uninstalled
something is wrong here. Anyway just teach me or someone please advise
preferably from technet because i do not want to screw up my registry or

Memtest86 - Allso Downloaded Winzip Which Picked Up The Files
Nov 12, 2008my computer keeps coming up with code 0x0000008e which i have been told that its a ram fault. the ram is new 2gb. the company i bought it from told me to run memtest from boot up as i cant run windows xp at moment. memtest86.com has a bootable iso download which i have done and extrcted so on. but it comes up as an unreconised file now i have writen to disk and set up bios to 1st boot but i cant get it to work allso downloaded winzip which picked up the files and copyed that to disk but still will not work. i must be being thick or stupid and missing some thing can any help talk me through using it.
