Loops On Startup Tried Various Things Now Stuck

Jan 31, 2007

A friends computer went down last week - on loading it'd say 'file missing explorer.exe' it restarted and just wouldn't do anything else. It wouldn't go into safe mode, XP wouldn't repair etc, so I reformated the PC and put XP back on a fresh. She said she'd done nothing to it which was a bit puzzling. Now today I've gone around there and the PC is looping, it'll go to the XP load screen and then go back to the menu options - safe mode etc. The PC won't load in safe mode, last known config, nuffink! Again, she said she'd done nothing to it, apparently the mouse was freezing, now it won't do anything, I put in the XP disc and tried to do a repair this is the message:Setup cannot set the required Windows XP configuration information. This indicates an internal setup error. Contact your system administrator.

Errors Generated During Startup - Ycommon.exe

Jun 28, 2005

I am running Windows 2000 Pro, and recently I began using Asmw eraser pro. Shortly after I began to use Asmw, I began to get errors during startup. The two error messages I receive are: "MotiveSB.exe is generating errors and will be shut down.", and "ycommon.exe is generating errors and will be shut down. You will have to restart your computer." I have run a few virus programs without detecting any viruses. I don't know if these errors are caused by the history cleaner, or what, but they now occur every time I start up.

Computer Shows Errors At Startup

Jan 24, 2007

At the start up, I'm getting some error messages..1. mimboot.exe Entry point not found something to do with a CoreDll.dll 2.hpqthb08.exe - Failed to initialize properly- HP image zone?3. A couple of symantec errors (don't use norton anymore but can't delete it either)4. And after we get rid of the error messages, the HP update Agent runs the whole time but can't ever complete the update.I usually have to get out of that by alt+ctrl+del. When we try to shut down the computer, it just doesn't do it. I ran regcleaner and it fixed a bunch of stuff, but still wouldn't shut down or restart properly. Then I disabled NVidia driver helper, seemed to help a little, but now it gets stuck on the blue "logging off" screen and we still have to turn it off and restart manually.

Taskmgr Startup Errors - Windows Askmgr.exe" Specified In The Registry

Oct 2, 2007

A box came up with C:Windows askmgr.exe in the title bar and the text said, "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them" I clicked OK and a second box came up. It had DESKTOP in the title bar and the text said "Could not load or run c: . Make sure the file exists on your computer or remove the reference to it in the registry." I clicked OK and things seemed to work.

I use the free version of Grisoft's AVG so I ran a scan and it found 3 items, one of which was taskmgr.exe infected with Trojan horse SHeur.NOZ. It said it fixed them so I rebooted. The other 2 were svchost.exe and svchost_tmp.exe also infected by SHeur.QCZ

Can't Start Up My Computer; The Boot Sequence Just Loops Again & Again

Sep 27, 2009

System Restore problem I've been having.I did a system restore on my laptop and then got error messages when attempting to restore back to the present time) but as of just now I have a new, much more pressing problem. I restarted my laptop in safe mode an hour or so ago to attempt to do a system restore while in safe mode, just to see if that might work since I always get an error when trying to do a system restore normally.

The system restore loaded up and the blue progress bar got about 1/6th of the way across and then stopped. I let it load and after 45 minutes of absolutely no progress in starting up with the system restore, I manually shut down the computer. I turned it on again after a minute and it began to boot up, showed the HP logo, went black, then the Windows XP loading screen, went black, then the HP logo again, black again, Windows XP loading screen again, etc and just looped again and again. I let it continue this for about 15 minutes but it just kept looping. I pressed the F8 key while it was doing this and selected it to start in Safe Mode, only to have the same looping sequence continue again and again. I had to manually shut down the laptop again, and after attempting to turn it on and have it boot up a few more times I've run into nothing but more of the same endless looping process.

What can I do about this? What caused it and is there any way to fix it? I'd really like a way to access or save my data, which I can't do now since the computer is doing nothing but looping the boot sequence. i have Prof SP2

It still boots up as slow as ever. The operating system in Microsoft Windows XP 2002 edition with SP2 nstalled, and all the lastest updates installed.

Fix User Init.exe Disaster / Loops Back And Throws Back Up

Mar 24, 2008

I did an AVG Rootkit scan which turned up "c:windows/system32/userinit.exe" as a dodgy file. I removed it and now the machine won't login when I boot the system. With a bit more digging it seems that this file was actually the login information within the registry and as it can't find a valid user/password it just keeps asking me click the user name and login. When I click it just loops back and throws back up the window, asking me to click the user name again. How I can access the registry and reset the userinit.exe file?I've tried selecting "last good configuration" which didn't work.I also tried to download Bart PE on another machine (running Vista) to set up a boot CD, but it wasn't particularly clear how to go about it, so I tried using the XP System Recovery app on the install disks. This got me into a C: prompt.

Am I right in thinking that they are both pretty similar except that server has support for multiple processors and extra network related tools and facilities. The reason I ask is that if a piece of software works on Windows 2000 server, is it extremely likely that it will work on Windows 2000 professional too? As a bit of background information: I work for a small company which supplies temperature monitoring equipment which needs to be networked. I've been told that it has been tested on Windows 2000 server but not on Window 2000 professional.

When I tried installing the module, the computer will not start, nothing but black screen. It's as thought there is no memory at all. I tried re-installing the module making sure it was inserted in as far as it will go, still no luck. There is no settings in bios that I can see that would prevent the acceptance of this module

After the installation of Win XP, the drive properties shows 4.9 GB of used memory and only 4.45 GB of free memory, but when I try to find total memory occupied for all the files in that drive (using "select-all" and properties) the used memory is only 2.3 GB only.

Now I don't understand the huge difference of this memories calculations. Where that extra used memory gone, when the total memory occupied by all the files is much less.
