Taskmgr Startup Errors - Windows Askmgr.exe" Specified In The Registry
Oct 2, 2007
A box came up with C:Windows askmgr.exe in the title bar and the text said, "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them" I clicked OK and a second box came up. It had DESKTOP in the title bar and the text said "Could not load or run c: . Make sure the file exists on your computer or remove the reference to it in the registry." I clicked OK and things seemed to work.
I use the free version of Grisoft's AVG so I ran a scan and it found 3 items, one of which was taskmgr.exe infected with Trojan horse SHeur.NOZ. It said it fixed them so I rebooted. The other 2 were svchost.exe and svchost_tmp.exe also infected by SHeur.QCZ
When I start the computer, I get a screen freeze and have to press Ctrl,Alt,Del once before any programs will startup. A lot of probs with internet connection and slowness while surfing as well as a lot of pop up ads in my face.
There are system boxes coming up with registry and dll errors and the whole system seems SLOW.
Registry Mechanic just found 800 bad stuff on my pc. It cant delete them all because it needs to be registered and I dont know what to do about the stuff it can delete
when I close AOL.Everytime I tried to close it I would get the error message "76-APQM Not enough disk space". Their techs first answer was that the artwork database was damaged. After following their techs instructions on how to clear the artwork. I still had the error message. They told me since I am still getting the error message, my only option is to reinstall. After reinstalling AOL I still have the error message when I close AOL.
my computer keeps restarting over and over again and doesnt turn on properly. if i am lucky enough to actually get my computer to turn on and load windows and try to open programs using task manager i get msgs like...."one of the files containing the system data had to be recovered by use of a log or alternate copy. the recovery was successful" , " winlogon - entry point not found - the procedure entry poin SetErrnMode could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll." "lsass.exe - Not Found -
I have been doing a Windows LiveCare Safety Scanner and it is bringing these errors up how please do I get rid of them.I am a total novice so be gentle with me.I have Windows Home Edition 2000 and it is a Toshiba Laptop
I am a new user of xp, I m gatting a message that there are registry errors and i should fix these, it also tells that message is from system to alert. I think it is fake and should i ignore it and how can i stop message alert appear again and again.
I have a brand-new computer, put together by a relative with almost all new parts. It's running Windows XP. Occasionally it crashes, sometimes I get error messages about the registry, and every once in a while the clock is wrong. I understand a bit about stop errors (because of Microsoft's nice error-reporting service) but I don't know how to find out what is causing them. Something about a driver, but how do I know which driver?
The computer seems to crash randomly, not with any discernable pattern or regularity.I suspect there's something wrong with the DVD player- music sometimes skips if I'm playing from a CD, and once the computer crashed while I was playing a large video file. Then again, I've played DVDs with no problem quite a few times and I've always been able to copy and burn. When the computer blue-screens, it shuts down before I can read any of it.
A few days ago I started getting registry problems, applications not wanting to startup right and ect. Then it was followed by shortcuts crapping out on me. When I clicked on the shortcut to see what was wrong it said there was a .LNKtx problem with the .exe or somethign to that notion. I can bypass that problem fairly easily without a fix, however when I do that and load somethign such as a game it will cause the CPU to either a) shutdown program or b) make cpu crash and restart.
speed up my pc because it takes forever for my computer to startup. So first I went to add/remove programs and uninstalled things I didn't think I needed. Then I found some software online that is supposed to help clean your windows registry. So here's what I installed just this morning: RegCure and Pareto Logic Privacy Controls. I ran scans in both and ran the auto fixes for both. but now i am geting start up error
I was trying to help someone with a Dell laptop that was running slow. I found that they had a failed SP2 upgrade listed in the update history when I went to the windows update site. It was from last October! Anyway when I checked the task manager it was always running around 15% of the CPU. I removed SP2 through Add and remove programs and re-installed. Install was successful. Went back to windows update site and picked up the rest of the updates, 20 to be exact. Everything installed OK, but taskmgr.exe is still taking up about 15% of the CPU. I tried killing taskmgr.exe and it did in fact close the task manager so I don't think it's a "look alike" malware process running.
They ONLY pop when I reboot/restart windows and desktop loads. I just recently have been experiencing some RUNDLL errors the errors are as follows... "Error loading C:WINDOWSsystem32fohofamu.dll The specified module could not be found." "Error loading C:WINDOWSsystem32mosayibo.dll The specified module could not be found."
Here are errors I am getting at the startup of my computer: Error loading C:DOCUME~1ALIMAL~1TempRarSFX2HNETPO~1.dll The specified module could not be found and: Error loadind C:PROGRA~1COMMON~1systemmsdc32.dll
I've been trying for days to get into my laptop and for some reason I can't and I'm going crazy.
To explain, I use Windows XP with SP2 installed and when I turn on my laptop and it gets to the log in screen it doesn't show the regular long in for XP but the clasic one. Also when I get into my profile (or anyone else for that matter) it says the following
"Explorer.EXE - Application error. The Application failed to initialize properly (0xc000001d)." All the other sites I went to say to open up the task manenger but when I go to do that it says
I am running Windows 2000 Pro, and recently I began using Asmw eraser pro. Shortly after I began to use Asmw, I began to get errors during startup. The two error messages I receive are: "MotiveSB.exe is generating errors and will be shut down.", and "ycommon.exe is generating errors and will be shut down. You will have to restart your computer." I have run a few virus programs without detecting any viruses. I don't know if these errors are caused by the history cleaner, or what, but they now occur every time I start up.
At the start up, I'm getting some error messages..1. mimboot.exe Entry point not found something to do with a CoreDll.dll 2.hpqthb08.exe - Failed to initialize properly- HP image zone?3. A couple of symantec errors (don't use norton anymore but can't delete it either)4. And after we get rid of the error messages, the HP update Agent runs the whole time but can't ever complete the update.I usually have to get out of that by alt+ctrl+del. When we try to shut down the computer, it just doesn't do it. I ran regcleaner and it fixed a bunch of stuff, but still wouldn't shut down or restart properly. Then I disabled NVidia driver helper, seemed to help a little, but now it gets stuck on the blue "logging off" screen and we still have to turn it off and restart manually.
As the title says, the cpu monitor that appears in the system tray when Taskmanager is running has gone missing and I can't seem to find a way to get it back. Here's what I've tried so far. In the systray Past Items: Set the icon to "Always Show" In Taskmanager Options: Checked and unchecked all items in every combination. Used Taskmanager to end taskmanager.exe process. This one did work once, but it was gone the next time I opened TM. Cleared the SystemTray list. Run sfc /scannow. Tried System Restore. It's not a huge problem as TM works fine, but I liked the CPU monitor in the tray when it was running. It's more a mystery I'd like to solve.
The screen going black and the computer beeping consistently untill turned off. The screen showing evenly spaced vertical white lines on a black screen. Showing a bluescreen (I can't remember the error messege but will make a note if it happens again). Not booting up correctly, with a messege displayed about inserting system disk or removing disk from the floppy drive though nothing is inserted. Sometimes the computer will switch on fine and will not act up at all, but much more often now I will get at least one of these errors each time I try to use the computer, if not several in succession.
When I start up, either when windows xp is loading, login screen, or right after i enter the password and press enter, a blue screen comes up.BAD_POOL_HEADER with all the text saying like check for viruses, but other stuff sometimes comes up like system files (.sys extensions) in the place of BAD_POOL_HEADER, which is right under the first line in the blue screen.
My mom was on my computer this afternoon and there was a power surge. When the power came back on, the computer would not come back on. When I booted my computer up this evening, everything was fine until midway into the startup sequence and I closed Yahoo! Messenger. Right after I did that I got the BSOD (BAD_POOL_HEADER) and the Stop errors at 0x00000019, (0x00000020, 0xE2B9E8F0, 0xE2B9E918, 0x0C050801). After restart, I tried to load HJT and I got an Explorer.EXE Application Error: The instruction at 0x7c91142e referenced memory at 0x00650072. The memory could not be read.
I'm trying to resuscitate someone's Toshiba Tecra 8000 laptop and in a normal boot, I will get all the way to loading personal settings (just before desktop icon display) and then the below referenced error message appears for 1 second and automatically restarts the boot process. I can boot in safe mode. Error message: *** STOP: 0X0000001E (0XC0000005,0X804A3484,0X00000000,0X00000036) KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED *** Address 804A3484 base at 80400000, DateStamp 3ad7ad60 - ntoskrnl.exe Beginning dump of physical memory Physical memory dump complete. Contact your system administrator or technical support group. This system is running Win 2000 sp2 w/ a paltry 196M ram.Would appreciate any suggestions to remedy.
In the first error if I click on OK for the GetLastError=2hDevice=fffffff I get the error in the second error about tttFailed to open GVCpl WinNT driver Please reboot your system. The other message just goes away (Could not start GPCIDrv driver). It seems to be tied to the Gigabyte driver. The other thing that I have noticed is that Wall Watcher doesn't log anything anymore.
My system randomly freezes and sometimes the screen will go blank When i try and start up the system i usually get stuck on the loading screen and have to restart, or the system will freeze as i'm logging in. I get a BSoD with DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL 0x000000D1 (0x000000000 0x0000000FF ) and some other 0x000stuff
On my box at home, I have Norton System Works, which contains a registry diagnostic/sweeper.At work, where I run Windows 2000 Pro, I was wondering...I know there are various registry diagnostic & cleaner utilities out there on the web, but I thought I had heard that Windows itself either includes one on the OS disc or makes one available for download. Is there such a thing as an official Windows Registry utility?
I have got two startup entries that cant be deleted. HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun They have the ability to clone most startup entries, and they cant be permanently deleted. Over the last year I have downloaded and ran multiple scans, with various malware applications from quite a few web site help forums.None gave any indication of malware present, but I suppose you cant rule it out. The first time I notice something odd was with Misconfig, I had three startup entries for SISUSBRG. I deleted two of them and disabled the original one. The next time they re-appeared was as 1 and 2 program entries
I use the tool of regmon to moniter the activity of appliction access the registry. In the screen, i can see the request of 'query value' or 'open key' or'close key'. the response shows 'success','not found'. I can not understand why the applications need these request when they are running.
