Hardware Drivers :: VIA USB 3.0 Controller Stopped Working Now Hidden Device

This evening I went to use by portable USB drive and noticed it wouldn't work. I tried another port and it still didn't work. I then tried another device on the same ports and it also did not work.
I opened up device manager and saw that my VIA USB xHCI controller was no longer listed under USB controllers. I turned on Show Hidden Devices and it then appeared as a hidden device. I attempted to re-install the drivers for it but the installer wouldn't run because it said it didn't detect the hardware on the system.
I last used the ports 2 nights ago and didn't have any problem then. I thought the problem may have been caused by the Windows updates I installed today so I uninstalled them all, but the USB controller still doesn't work.

16GB RAM

I just reinstalled my PC, obviously with windows 8. And I can't seem to play games, i mostly play COD4 and whenever I join a game, I get an Dirextx error, or my PC just reboots..
I don't know if it has something to do with my LPC INTERFACE controller.

And I used to get 'AMD Driver timed out, and succesfully rebooted" something like that.

I have windows 8 pro in my desktop.When i started to run nfs mw 1 it opened but while loading for gameplay it stops working and windows says that there is a problem to work the program properly,so i will have to close it.I have tried for all compatibility mode but its still does not work.

My autoplay has stopped working on both my sd cards and my dvd drive - this happened in win 8 - and has remained even though I have upgraded to 8.1 - I have set the autoplay settings to ask every time - but still nothing pops up ? - I don't ever remember switching it off ?

My almost year old razer naga epic stopped working and just a little while ago was working perfectly. When I left and came back about 15 minutes later, it stopped working. I tried to use wired mode with/without a battery, I tried re-pairing wireless mode and,7 resetting my computer. I also tried other usb ports on my computer and another computer. Why it stopped working

I have a Windows 8.1 Lenovo notebook and a Toshiba Satellite Windows 7 laptop, and a mouse.
Well, the mouse has been working fine for 4 months, but suddenly, the mouse has stopped working in my Toshiba laptop. As I didn't know how to fix it, and as Toshiba laptop was full of crap, I've just formatted its HDD and made a clean install of Windows 8.1 and updated everything.
After that, I've plugged the mouse in and the same error: it connects and disconnects all the time. Sometimes, if I'm in the Device Manager refreshing the devices, mysteriously it start to work, but just for a few minutes. Sometimes, and just sometimes, the Device Manager shows that there's an unknown device connected to a USB port that is not working. The error code is 43.
That mouse works perfectly in my other notebook, the lenovo. I've connected a different mouse to the Toshiba and it works perfectly, in any port. So that makes me say this:
-The mouse is not broken, cause it works in my other laptop
-Toshiba's USB ports work nice cause any other device I connect works seamlessly
-After a clean install, it can't be a software problem

I have a MacBook Pro running Windows 8 (via BootCamp) and I was running games on Steam.
Randomly, the game froze, and my Xbox 360 controller stopped responding. When I exited out to try and fix the problem, the trackpad stopped working completely and the whole thing froze.
Upon restart, the trackpad simply doesn't work (still doesn't) and I have to use a mouse to control it at all.
I reinstalled all of the BootCamp drivers, and it still doesn't work.

I've started getting the message Microsoft Mouse & Keyboard Center has Stopped Working (see error report below) when Windows 8 starts. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the latest version of the Mouse & Keyboard Center but still have the same problem.

I own an hp pavilion sleekbook 15. Just out of the blue my mouse and touch pad stopped working after a restart. I download a new driver from the hp website, synaptic touch ps/2, installed it and still nothing. After several tries I don't know what to do anymore. I checked the device manager and nothing is installed, when I check the control panel it says reinstall.

I have a Sony Vaio running Windows 8.1 Pro. I was on cs portable with a USB mouse and I pressed a few keys and the mouse stopped to work. It came up with the message that it was not recognized. I tried to uninstall the USB drivers, but had no luck. This problem has been going on for a few days. I tried other solutions but they didn't seem to work. The red LED light was on.

Why does every new O/S decide to remove undesired drivers and software? Same thing happened when moving from XP to Vista, and once you had Vista you sure had to get out of it!
Win 8 Pro N has physically deleted 3 multimedia controller drivers;

Also, why hasn't Microsoft Fixit 50548 been adapted for Win 8 (i e possibillity to print picture or graphics to printer by right-clicking on file, then left-klick on Print on Menu that appeared. Also works to list contents of a drive on a printer output.

To me, this is a huge oversight on Microsoft's part. Imagine being able to boot up your PC, go to Metro, then fire up Steam big picture mode and play your games without ever needing to touch your mouse and keyboard (except, of course, if you are playing an FPS or RTS :3 )
I don't get why this is not supported. It is just such a massive oversight. When I hit the Xbox logo on my controller I would want my PC to switch to Metro mode and allow the navigation of my PC using the thumbsticks, D-pad and face buttons.
Microsoft are trying to be very universal about their devices. Xbox, Zune, Windows, they are trying to get everything into one interface and one brand, so why is the Xbox Controller not supported with Windows for navigational purposes?

Last part of the message, (Device Descriptor Request Failed). I get this, in Device Manager, and I have searched for an answer on the net. Also it is a Code 43. I went through my laptop, with an HP Technician this morning, I might add at a cost of 5p/minute, for 30 odd minutes. He has said that because I had gone over to Windows 8.1 and the recovery discs I made will not load, to put back in Windows 8. I have to send the laptop back for re-installing the OS, because Windows 8.1 do not have the update for my problem. Also the R.H. USB socket has a failure ID:0GAPTK-6T7716-MFPWWK-8D1Q03. I personally think that this is all what the problem is. a duff USB. Is this a cop-out???
Does Windows 8.1 having driver WHQL problems?
I only found out the problem with the usb when I tried to download a Mobi file to a Kindle for my wife. The other usb's work OK.

If I try and save anything in Documents, Pictures. Music or Videos I get the message : "Document .library-ms" is no longer working. It says I can delete these files - the files stored will not be affected . But I need these libraries to store stuff...

today I was makeing an essey in microsof office and suddenly my mouse and keyboard. stopped working, replugging the devices didn't worked (did it for 5 times ) , after this I tried to restart the pc I found out that rr button doesn't do anything , after I stopped the power going to pc and open power + pc they worked for only a few seconds and then stopped again . After a few force shutdown( by stopping the power) the pc closes itself after the windos 8 img dissapear . I have a desktop dual core 3.1, 4gb ram , mouse is usb and the keyboard is with Ps/2 .
Update : after waiting 30 min I reopend it, all worked , but after approximate 3 min pc shuted down by itself.

For some reason the Windows 7 style desktop snap has stopped working, I can still snap a metro app to the side of my monitor but not an ordinary program like note pad. I used to either drag the window to the side of the screen or press Windows Key and an arrow to snap it to the left or the right.

When I try clicking the start button, it doesn't work. I move my mouse to the right side of the screen, and the bar doesn't come up. Same with moving my mouse to the top left corner of the screen. I checked the properties by right clicking the task bar. The corner navigation options are checked off to show them when I move my mouse to the different corners.

About two weeks ago I began to notice strange behavior on my PC which made me think it may be a virus. Some examples:
1. When I'm online a message window frequently appears stating "internet explorer has stopped working"
2. Some websites do not display adverts on the page. I've attached a screenshot from youtube to illustrate what I'm referring to.
3. Some webpages will not load. I keep seeing "webpage under maintenance at this time". This is typical for websites at certain times but to see it every time I try to access is suspicious.
4. I use Hotmail and typically the first time I start it up in the day I notice that the first email I open causes the entire page to go blank as if it erases everything on it, it then reopens with all of my emails listed and finally the email I began to read will reopen. This only happens after I boot my system and open the first email. This will not happen on any other computer.
5. I seem to be having issues installing certain programs. They won't install citing various reasons such as outdated files, incompatible etc. These were all working flawlessly prior to reformatting my system.
6. I'm unable to post messages even though I'm logged in. When I type a message I see the timer cycling but it never posts my messages, it's as if it's stuck in a loop or frozen.
Having felt that a system reformat was in order I did just that not more than a week ago. Everything was reinstalled and updated. Once all the Windows 8 files were installed I began to notice the exact same problems surfacing immediately. I'm currently using Win 8 with IE 10. 16 GB RAM, 64 bit OS. The computer itself is an HP and a year old.

Recently I updated my laptop and when it was finished updating the keyboard no longer worked. Before the update it worked fine and I had no problems. I restarted it several times and restored it but still nothing. Now I am stuck using the on screen keyboard which is difficult. I also went to try and fix it using device manager but it wasn't listed.

I was trying to adjust my recording volume settings and realised that I couldn't access them at all. I can access volume mixer, recording devices and playback devices but as soon as I click properties I get an error "windows shell common dll has stopped working" checking for solutions. No solutions are found.

We purchased 15 Surface Pro 2 tablets for our School Administrators. Touch did not work for 3 tablet 'out of the box'...or so I thought. Since receiving them, touch has stopped working on 5 more. Each time Microsoft has replaced the device without question so I assumed this was a known issue. However I am now pretty sure it is happening during my imaging process. I am using SCCM 2012, via PXE and/or USB. The Task Sequence completes successfully and all drivers appear to install. I am using the driver package from Microsoft. The stylus works but not touch. I can't complain about the support MS is providing since they replace the device every time but I am sure there must be a fix I have not tried.

I have Windows 8, 64-bit, IE 10 (uses 32-bit) and am using the free version of AVG anti-virus. I noticed that IE will crash (IE has stopped working and needs to restart) on a daily basis. I am using an HP laptop G62-340US. I have IE set to update automatically.
