I own an hp pavilion sleekbook 15. Just out of the blue my mouse and touch pad stopped working after a restart. I download a new driver from the hp website, synaptic touch ps/2, installed it and still nothing. After several tries I don't know what to do anymore. I checked the device manager and nothing is installed, when I check the control panel it says reinstall.
View 9 RepliesI have a Windows 8.1 Lenovo notebook and a Toshiba Satellite Windows 7 laptop, and a mouse.
Well, the mouse has been working fine for 4 months, but suddenly, the mouse has stopped working in my Toshiba laptop. As I didn't know how to fix it, and as Toshiba laptop was full of crap, I've just formatted its HDD and made a clean install of Windows 8.1 and updated everything.
After that, I've plugged the mouse in and the same error: it connects and disconnects all the time. Sometimes, if I'm in the Device Manager refreshing the devices, mysteriously it start to work, but just for a few minutes. Sometimes, and just sometimes, the Device Manager shows that there's an unknown device connected to a USB port that is not working. The error code is 43.
That mouse works perfectly in my other notebook, the lenovo. I've connected a different mouse to the Toshiba and it works perfectly, in any port. So that makes me say this:
-The mouse is not broken, cause it works in my other laptop
-Toshiba's USB ports work nice cause any other device I connect works seamlessly
-After a clean install, it can't be a software problem
I've started getting the message Microsoft Mouse & Keyboard Center has Stopped Working (see error report below) when Windows 8 starts. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the latest version of the Mouse & Keyboard Center but still have the same problem.

I have a Sony Vaio running Windows 8.1 Pro. I was on cs portable with a USB mouse and I pressed a few keys and the mouse stopped to work. It came up with the message that it was not recognized. I tried to uninstall the USB drivers, but had no luck. This problem has been going on for a few days. I tried other solutions but they didn't seem to work. The red LED light was on.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe purchased 15 Surface Pro 2 tablets for our School Administrators. Touch did not work for 3 tablet 'out of the box'...or so I thought. Since receiving them, touch has stopped working on 5 more. Each time Microsoft has replaced the device without question so I assumed this was a known issue. However I am now pretty sure it is happening during my imaging process. I am using SCCM 2012, via PXE and/or USB. The Task Sequence completes successfully and all drivers appear to install. I am using the driver package from Microsoft. The stylus works but not touch. I can't complain about the support MS is providing since they replace the device every time but I am sure there must be a fix I have not tried.

View 3 Replies View Relatedtoday I was makeing an essey in microsof office and suddenly my mouse and keyboard. stopped working, replugging the devices didn't worked (did it for 5 times ) , after this I tried to restart the pc I found out that rr button doesn't do anything , after I stopped the power going to pc and open power + pc they worked for only a few seconds and then stopped again . After a few force shutdown( by stopping the power) the pc closes itself after the windos 8 img dissapear . I have a desktop dual core 3.1, 4gb ram , mouse is usb and the keyboard is with Ps/2 .
Update : after waiting 30 min I reopend it, all worked , but after approximate 3 min pc shuted down by itself.
I have Windows 8, 64-bit, IE 10 (uses 32-bit) and am using the free version of AVG anti-virus. I noticed that IE will crash (IE has stopped working and needs to restart) on a daily basis. I am using an HP laptop G62-340US. I have IE set to update automatically.

I have an issue with the Mouse/s. I tried 2 different mouses and I encountered the same problem with both of them, so I know it's not a mouse problem. Note that both of these mouses work perfectly on my other/older/Windows 7 and previously Windows XP lap top, so it's not a mouse issue. It's either a driver problem or something else.
I have tried all 3 USB ports I got and it does the same thing.
When I turn on the lap top, if the mouse is plugged or unplugged and I plug it afterwards, it doesn't work. If however I turn on the lap top, plug in the mouse, and the restart the lap top, when it restarts the mouse works fine all up until the lap top is turned off again. And then to get it to work again I have to turn on the lap top, with the mouse plugged, or plug the mouse after it's turned on, then restart the lap top, and then the mouse works fine.
Apparently, this is not very convenient. It's a major inconvenience.
p.s I never had this issue before on any other PC computer or lap top, whether it was Windows XP or Windows 7. So it's either a Windows 8.1 issue or the new lap top issue, or a driver issue.

It never happened before. Also I got a boat of crap that I had to delete, and I hope I did not delete the wrong thing. I'm also getting these pop ups that keep popping up, and never had this happen before. and I also have these videos that pop up as well.
This evening I went to use by portable USB drive and noticed it wouldn't work. I tried another port and it still didn't work. I then tried another device on the same ports and it also did not work.
I opened up device manager and saw that my VIA USB xHCI controller was no longer listed under USB controllers. I turned on Show Hidden Devices and it then appeared as a hidden device. I attempted to re-install the drivers for it but the installer wouldn't run because it said it didn't detect the hardware on the system.
I last used the ports 2 nights ago and didn't have any problem then. I thought the problem may have been caused by the Windows updates I installed today so I uninstalled them all, but the USB controller still doesn't work.

My almost year old razer naga epic stopped working and just a little while ago was working perfectly. When I left and came back about 15 minutes later, it stopped working. Randomly, the game froze, and my Xbox 360 controller stopped responding. When I exited out to try and fix the problem, the trackpad stopped working completely and the whole thing froze.
Upon restart, the trackpad simply doesn't work (still doesn't) and I have to use a mouse to control it at all.
I reinstalled all of the BootCamp drivers, and it still doesn't work.
Installed windows 8.1 preview last night and after installing i get stuck at the lock screen, cant click or punch keys to log in. Since the powers that be decided to change how you boot into safe mode is my only option to format?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a new Dell Inspiron 2350 windows 8.1 for the last week or so the usb wireless keyboard and mouse do not work when the system is booted or after coming out of deep sleep mode. I have to unplug the usb dongle and plug it in again for them to work.
I have already checked the powering saving settings for these devices, and it is disabled. There is no setting in the bios that I can see which would cause this. I have re-installed the drivers. I have tried different USB port. Dell have even replaced the keyboard and mouse and batteries, same problem.
I'm having a problem with getting the mouse wheel button to work correctly in 8.1
I've switched to left handed use to alleviate shoulder pain.
Before this I had the mouse and keyboard center installed. I use a cheap USB keyboard and a microsoft USB optical wheel mouse. Configured for the right hand, everything works correctly. The right button is the normal select, the right is context and I configured the wheel button to double click.
When I switch to left hand I lose the wheel button double click. The select / context buttons are properly working, but when I click the wheel it appears to be the same as a context button click. I thought maybe the settings got messed up when I switched the buttons so I tried setting the wheel button to another function (open charms in this case). That works. Switched the wheel button back to double click and it goes back to open context menu.
I uninstalled and re-installed the mouse and keyboard center. That made no difference. Seems like a bug here.
On, this is on a new (mid-april) HP laptop so there is a touchpad that I almost never use because I generally have the mouse, keyboard, and external monitor attached with the lid closed.
I have a problem with keyboard and mouse. Every day when i playing some games my keyboard randomly stop working (backlight on keyboard still light but LED on num lock is off and buttons don't work) after few seconds my mouse also stop working. Plugin to another USB doesn't work. Only when i disconnect keyboard and connect mouse to other USB mouse work. After restarting system all works fine. Im sure keyboard and mouse is good (testing it on laptop when this happens and its work normal). I have updated drivers and BIOS.

No keyboard or mouse by attempting to add safe mode with networking. What is UEFI? Where do I find this USB viewable option as I am connected by USB?
I went to set up (F2 at boot) > and then searched around for anything that relates to USB and found that USB is enabled and on high speed. Hope that is not it and I am missing something, because I still have no mouse or keyboard.
Keyboard and mouse are the ones that came with the Dell XPS 7100 system. I'll try different USB ports and report back...didn't make a difference.
I have had to do a system restore on my desktop 2 times because the Microsoft update rendered my windows 8 desktop useless unless in safe mode, THEN it showed my mouse pointer. the unifying software shows the little orange unifying logo every time i move my mouse, but no pointer. so i just disabled Microsoft updates.
On the laptop, it's my friends and his mousepad/trackpad died so i gave him my old mx anywhere k360 keyboard and tried to pair it with the software, SAME issue. I am not going to system restore his laptop but i believe the mouse that's on my desktop is the 810 gaming mouse? I had to do a system restore twice and now it's happening on my friends laptop.
I disabled windows updates and restarted my computer because i installed a program. when it booted, again, no mouse pointer again, so it's not the windows update. so i had to do a system restore again....
My HP Pavilion is not letting me use any kind of virtualization software to run on Windows 8. It worked when I had Windows 7 running on this machine but now it won't work now on Windows 8.

I bought my HP Pavilion 20 all in one desktop two weeks ago and then power options stopped working a week ago everything else seems OK. I looked in the console and "balance" is checked, going further, all the times are set (display dimmed 5 mins, turn off display 10 mins, put computer to sleep 30 mins). A day or so before this happened I replaced the standard (rather cheap) wired keyboard and mouse with a Logitech k360 Keyboard and m326 mouse (both wireless).
I can put the computer to sleep using the keyboards sleep button. I also temporarily changed the "Put Computer to Sleep" section in Power Options console to "never" when "Windows Photo Gallery" needed to update the face recondition on my photos transferred from my old computer (it took over 24 hours). After "Windows Photo Gallery" had finished I changed it back to 30 mins and since then no power options.
Windows 8 device (Dell XPS 12 i7 running Windows 8.1 Pro). I like the touch input when it is flat in tablet mode, but when I plug a USB mouse into it when I am at my desk, I want the mouse inputs to be treated exactly like finger inputs on the touch screen. For example, scrolling by touching/clicking anywhere in a window or the ability to flick things using my mouse like I can with my finger. Simply using the mouse makes everything behave like it did in Windows 7: Clicking and dragging selects things instead of scrolling in Office 2013. I don't want this, I want it behave like Android does when I plug a mouse into it: Just like a finger was there.
I have looked everywhere for such a setting, but I cannot find one. How can I achieve this? I want all mouse inputs to be treated exactly like touch inputs.
My touch screen to my Aspire R7 laptop is no longer working. I got a notification about there not being enough power reaching the USB port, and it stopped working after that. I'm not connected to the internet, so it's not a bad update, but I don't know what the problem is, or how to fix it. When I go to PC Info, it says "No pen or touch input is available for this display" which I know is not true because I've been using it's touch screen the entire time I've had it.
a common problem is that the drivers aren't updated. I don't think this is my problem as I haven't installed any updates today (I haven't been connected to the internet) and it's been working fine prior to just now.
The battery is fully charged (and was at 50% when I got the notification), so the power shouldn't be an issue.

I bought the Asus Zenbook Touch (ux31a-bhi5t11) yesterday, and the 2 finger scrolling worked fine at first, but a couple hours later it just stopped working. I can scroll using the touch screen, but not the touch pad now. It's brand new, and I haven't touched any of the settings, so I don't know why it would just quit.

Same with moving my mouse to the top left corner of the screen. I checked the properties by right clicking the task bar. View 4 Replies View RelatedAbout two weeks ago I began to notice strange behavior on my PC which made me think it may be a virus. Some examples:
1. When I'm online a message window frequently appears stating "internet explorer has stopped working"
2. Some websites do not display adverts on the page. I've attached a screenshot from youtube to illustrate what I'm referring to.
3. Some webpages will not load. I keep seeing "webpage under maintenance at this time". This is typical for websites at certain times but to see it every time I try to access is suspicious.
4. I use Hotmail and typically the first time I start it up in the day I notice that the first email I open causes the entire page to go blank as if it erases everything on it, it then reopens with all of my emails listed and finally the email I began to read will reopen. This only happens after I boot my system and open the first email. This will not happen on any other computer.
5. I seem to be having issues installing certain programs. They won't install citing various reasons such as outdated files, incompatible etc. These were all working flawlessly prior to reformatting my system.
6. I'm unable to post messages even though I'm logged in. When I type a message I see the timer cycling but it never posts my messages, it's as if it's stuck in a loop or frozen.
Having felt that a system reformat was in order I did just that not more than a week ago. Everything was reinstalled and updated. Once all the Windows 8 files were installed I began to notice the exact same problems surfacing immediately. I'm currently using Win 8 with IE 10. 16 GB RAM, 64 bit OS. The computer itself is an HP and a year old.
