Sep 13, 2013I want to change OWN Bluetooth device name. I am using windows 8 which comes with my new laptop Dell Inspiron 15z. The company has set my default bluetooth name as "User". However I want it to be changed but how.
I have tried going to Device manager, Devices and printers etc.

May 13, 2014I have got a problem with bluetooth device. I tried removing my bluetooth device but it failed to remove. It is displayed as "removing device" on the screen as shown in the picture. Now I cannot add the device again. I don't find the device when I search by clicking on "add a device" as shown in the picture. When I try to add from my mobile device it fails to add by showing a message as shown in the next picture.

Feb 12, 2014while going through my device manager, a yellow triangle sign caught my attention. It is under the "Sound, video and game controllers' labeled as 'Bluetooth Audio Device". When opening the properties, it says that "This device annot start. (Code 10) Object Path Component was not a directory object.
I went to the MSI website (The laptop is a 4 days old MSI GS70-229) and could not find the corresponding driver for this so called "Bluetooth Audio Device". Windows update was unable to find anything, and the "Roll Back Driver" button was disabled. Driver provider is Qualcomm Atheros Communication.

Mar 2, 2014Since upgrading my HP DV6T7000-CTO from Windows 7 to Win 8 and now 8.1I have had an intermittent issue where the my wifi/bluetooth adapter is detected, until a restart, and then afterwards, is no longer detected. I have a Intel centrino wireless N 2230 which is both wifi and bluetooth. I cannot connect to wifi, nor is the bluetooth detected. Additionally, the wifi-radio button on my laptop, will not turn on (red is off, white is on). Sometimes I can temporarily fix the issue by shutting down,disconnecting the adapter from my laptop, reseating it, and then rebooting. This does not always work though.
I have tried the latest drivers from Intel as well as tried removing those and just installing whatever Windows update thinks is best. I have also updated the Bios to the latest, but to no avail. I have even replaced the adapter with a new adapter but the same model and that did not fix the issue either.

Sep 15, 2014I have a bluetooth module (Broadcom 2070) installed in my laptop.The hardware seems to be functioning fine (at least from Device Manager). However, when I go to Bluetooth Settings, all I see is this:
I'm not able to remove the Bluetooth Mouse there, and I'm also not able to detect any Bluetooth devices at all. I've even tried to use a Bluetooth dongle but to no avail. I've seen some suggested solutions to enable Bluetooth Support Services (which I have, and placed under Local Access), but this doesn't work for me as well.

Dec 1, 2013I have just got a nearly new Toshiba laptop and updated to Windows 8.1. Since then I have been unable to connect any device to it via Bluetooth. It was able to see the devices and try to connect but as soon as it connected the connection was dropped and the devices reported failed to connect error. I reinstalled the Bluetooth driver with the latest driver from the Toshiba website and now the Laptop wont even see any devices.

Jan 5, 2013I have installed window 8 pro 32 bit.
I have HP 630 laptop ( 2GB RAM , 320 GB HDD , intel i3 processor ) after that my blue tooth is not working ....
Few more drivers of intel are not working (not getting installed ) ( error is : The installer can not run this platform . Please select package for your operating system)
Its atheros driver . Previously it was working fine with window 7 32 bit. A friend of mine told me that window 8 does not require drivers to be installed provided by laptop vendor.
But again as i told above my blue tooth not working. Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) is also not getting installed.
Is there an problem with system performance if all drivers are not getting installed due to error

Hardware Drivers :: VIA USB 3.0 Controller Stopped Working Now Hidden Device
Sep 15, 2014This evening I went to use by portable USB drive and noticed it wouldn't work. I tried another port and it still didn't work. I then tried another device on the same ports and it also did not work.
I opened up device manager and saw that my VIA USB xHCI controller was no longer listed under USB controllers. I turned on Show Hidden Devices and it then appeared as a hidden device. I attempted to re-install the drivers for it but the installer wouldn't run because it said it didn't detect the hardware on the system.
I last used the ports 2 nights ago and didn't have any problem then. I thought the problem may have been caused by the Windows updates I installed today so I uninstalled them all, but the USB controller still doesn't work.

Apr 8, 2014I've tried ASUS K55A Qualcomm Atheros BlueTooth Driver 8.0.1.306 for Windows 8.1 64 bit ... and it does not work. The various errors that I get when I try different drivers including the above, are they in the picture with numbers 1 and 2.
The computer I have is an ASUS N56VM with windows 8.1. There are also other drivers for other devices in the computer that can not be installed after windows 8.1 been installed. could it be that the bluetooth device require any other device works? such as support for hotkeys.

May 27, 2014I think I know what "Bluetooth" is, and since I didn't think I needed it, I disabled it in Device Manager. Also, uninstalled it in Add & Remove programs. But I just ran the 'reliability monitor' / view reliability history, and saw all the "successful" installations of "Bluetooth". There were "nine" listings. More then I removed.
I have been checking what works and doesn't work to speed up and improve performance of my computer. And the plan is very much working. The computer is working great, with average boot times under 40 seconds, and my Firefox browser is 'flying'. Since I am adding some more memory in a day or two, I'm trying to see what works and do a 'reformat', complete reinstallation of the system. Setting up everything the way I want it. "Right" the first time if you will, and then be done with any testing and just using the computer.
Anyway, obviously, I'm not touching "Bluetooth". But what is it, and why does windows 8.1 think I need it. I don't have any wireless stuff, if that's what its for. And I just assumed that if I ever did need 'wireless', I would just download something.

Aug 16, 2012I am using Inspiron 1545 which has Dell Wireless 365 Bluetooth Module which is of broadcom. When I try to install driver compatibility issue comes up. It doesnt proceed even though i have marked compatibility as windows 7 or vista too.
I have tried using the broadcom tool to detect the device and install the driver but that also fails to detect the module.
And when i use my second OS windows 7 bluetooth works flawlessly. So its only windows 8 not able to detect my hardware. I have also checked in device manager and there also it is not present.

Feb 8, 2014Last part of the message, (Device Descriptor Request Failed). I get this, in Device Manager, and I have searched for an answer on the net. Also it is a Code 43. I went through my laptop, with an HP Technician this morning, I might add at a cost of 5p/minute, for 30 odd minutes. He has said that because I had gone over to Windows 8.1 and the recovery discs I made will not load, to put back in Windows 8. I have to send the laptop back for re-installing the OS, because Windows 8.1 do not have the update for my problem. Also the R.H. USB socket has a failure ID:0GAPTK-6T7716-MFPWWK-8D1Q03. I personally think that this is all what the problem is. a duff USB. Is this a cop-out???
Does Windows 8.1 having driver WHQL problems?
I only found out the problem with the usb when I tried to download a Mobi file to a Kindle for my wife. The other usb's work OK.

Nov 18, 2013Well mine certainly does.. When it quits I simply turn the mouse off and then on again. Doesn't figure as it worked in Windows 8 but, it refuses to work correctly in Windows 8.1. And more than that my mouse is a Microsoft Sculpt Touch mouse.

Jan 17, 2014I am unsure whether I should enable "Automatically get device drivers, apps, and info for new devices" when installing Windows 8 Pro?
What exactly will it do?
If I enable this, will Windows then automatically install software packages/drivers from the manufacturer, like for example the Logitech Setpoint software for their keyboards and mouse and similar software for other devices? I don't want or need that. Or will it behave like in Windows 7?
On my other PC with Windows 7 I see in Windows Update that there are a couple of optional updates, including that Logitech stuff, as well as some driver for a BenQ monitor I have and also nvidia video drivers. This kind of stuff I don't want or need installed automatically as important updates in Windows Update - so I am worried if enabling this automatic driver stuff in Windows 8 is different than Windows 7? Meaning that it will get installed secretly/automatically?
However, it's fine that Windows finds them so I can manually go and check if I want to install any of it.
The key is that the updates are optional in Windows 7, but I have seen a few people complain about Windows 8 installing stuff like video drivers and mouse drivers automatically.

Nov 18, 2013I am using Windows 8.1 Enterprise x64. I have normally used bluetooth on my HP Probook 4730s this days with my bluetooth headset. Now I have installed Office Remote Controller Add-In for Office 2013 Pro and since then I was not uble to turn on the bluetooth. I don't believe it's because of this Add-In for Office 2013, but I don't get it what could be wrong. I also can't make a system restore on any date.
When I go to PC Settings and go to Bluetooth, PC Settings just freeze or crash. I have updated bluetooth drivers and that doesn't solve the problem. Reinstalling my Windows is not an option in this moment, because I am working on a lot of projects and it will eat my time if I have to install Windows, Visual Studio, SQL Server and Office again.

Feb 10, 2014I have an original W 8.1 in a Lenovo x1 Carbon (64) and want to connect via Bluetooth to an updated 8 to 8.1 HP Envy (64). Both have Bluetooth. Although I can connect other devices (phone, speaker, etc.) I cannot connect the 2 PC's. I can get the name of the PC on the device screen and am asked to connect but then I get a notation showing a pass code and am asked to verify (yes - no) if this is the pass code shown on the other computers screen. I cannot find a pass code for the other computer and none is shown on the screen. Is there a way to connect the two computers?
