I have never used 'Bluetooth' before. I want to transfer a file between my laptop and Android tablet. I turned Bluetooth 'on' (which I have installed the latest driver) on my Windows 8.1 laptop. I turned Bluetooth 'on' on my Android 4.1.1 tablet. I had my laptop search for 'Bluetooth' devices, but my tablet is never found. Is there something I am doing wrong?
View 4 RepliesI have installed Windows 8.1 on my laptop. My laptop is Hp 6510b. Windows 8.1 is working fine for me. But the only issue I am facing is that I am unable to see my Bluetooth in Settings. Hence I am unable to transfer files. My android is also not searching my laptop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I bought this wireless game controller for my pc. I plugged it in at home and set to trying to getting it connected. It didn't seem to be connecting to any bluetooth network, so I looked for bluetooth in control panel and it didn't exist. I found out how to turn on bluetooth, but it seems in my 'Change PC Settings' menu there is no Wireless option. I went to the windows 8 metro thing and searched for 'wireless' and again nothing comes up at all. I checked my network and sharing center and then to change adapter settings and Ive got my Qualcomm Atheros AR922x Wireless Network adapter there and the device is working fine, just not connected to anything. Does that even work for bluetooth and connecting wireless peripherals?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a xbox that I have used (successfully, for about a year) as an extender for WMC 8. Im not sure what I did, but I am now unable to connect to my HTPC running win 8.1 pro. I have tried everything that even sniffs of a solution but I still get the error "unable to find extender". I can use the xbox to watch Hulu, Netflix but no WMC. My PC sees my xbox, however when I try to "test PC connection" thru the xbox System Settings/Network Settings/Test PC Connection I get, "network connected" - OK, then "PC Not Listed". I cant access my PC from the xbox "video player" either.
Ive tried all the popular fixes, turned off firewall, enabled extender services -- only to have them mysteriously disabled as soon as I attempt the extender setup process. Same mysterious disabling of the "Media Center Extenders" checked box in the "Allowed apps to communicate through Windows Firewall". Ive addressed all the sharing issues I can find, still nothing.
On Windows 7 I used to have an option to use the WPS button on the router to setup wifi but I am unable to find that option in Windows 8. Is this still an option and if so where is it located?

an error message in Device Manager when installing the network attached storage drives like MyBook Live, the drives themselves seem to work fine and i have access to them (most of the time) on my home netwok, however i keep getting that little yellow triangle telling me that something is wrong, specifically:
the device manager error code is This device cannot start. (Code 10)
I read somewhere that the Bluetooth physical transmitter sends out some type of signal into the environment. I also read that it's probably not harmful... but since I probably will not be using Bluetooth in the immediate future, it's probably better off.
Is there an easy way in Windows 8 to shut off Bluetooth for now?
The issue is that I am unable to send files (pictures, in particular) to my laptop via Bluetooth. I have verified that the problem is with my PC rather than my phone by pairing and sending files to a different computer. I have tried everything I know to try, un-pairing and re-pairing, re-installed Intel Bluetooth drivers, uninstalled the phone from Device Manager and re-installed it, made sure the correct services were running, checked firewall settings, and synchronized PIM data.
I am able to send files to my phone from my laptop. After doing a few hours of research, it seems like a handful of folks (me included) do not have all of the Bluetooth options when clicking on the Bluetooth icon from the system tray. The main options I am missing are "Send Files" and "Receive Files".
I started fsquirt and selected "Receive Files", but sending still fails. When selecting "Open Settings" from the Bluetooth icon in the tray, I am taken to a nice little option menu. All of the correct settings are checked, but the interesting thing is that when I click on the "Open Receiving Window" button on the "Shared Folder" tab, absolutely nothing happens. No error, just nothing.
Under Windows 7-- whatever bluetooth software I had used to let me connect to my bluetooth enabled phone and browse the memory for pictures, videos, etc to download. I see no such option on Windows 8

When I say fine, I mean I could connect to the internet. Then when I woke up this morning, I turn on the wifi but it says "no network found". I check the router and it is working perfectly fine. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have connected my ipod touch 4g to my new windows 8 laptop via bluetooth. It shows up in both the ipod and in the windows settings as being connected. However, once connected, i am unable to do anything with the connection.
There is no Windows tile showing the ipod, no obvious options in the ipod for how I can do anything with the connection, nothing. What am I supposed to be able to do once I have connected them via bluetooth? Is there a step I'm missing? I have a laptop with Windows 8.1 x64 with everything up to date. It has the Intel Wireless-N 7260 card, that has Bluetooth 4.0.
I've added my smartphone, and I can send files from my laptop to my smartphone. But when I try to send something from my device to my laptop, it fails. My laptop doesn't show any prompt about "Do you wanna receive this file" or something like that. My smartphone shows a "Sending file..." dialog, but nothing happens.
I installed the stock Bluetooth driver provided by the manufacturer of the laptop, but nothing changed except for one thing: my smartphone automatically sent me that the shared file failed. With the latest BT driver, the dialog of "Sending file..." stays for a long time.
This happens with all the smartphones I've tried. I formatted the laptop like a month ago, and BT at that time was working perfectly, I could send and receive files. My laptop is working great except for this annoying problem.
The device is manufactures by Quallcom Atheros and the device manager has a yellow sign with the following message:

Tried to update drivers but they are updated. Drivers listed in the device manager are all in C:windowssystem32drivers ...
I've tried ASUS K55A Qualcomm Atheros BlueTooth Driver 8.0.1.306 for Windows 8.1 64 bit ... and it does not work. The various errors that I get when I try different drivers including the above, are they in the picture with numbers 1 and 2.
The computer I have is an ASUS N56VM with windows 8.1. There are also other drivers for other devices in the computer that can not be installed after windows 8.1 been installed. could it be that the bluetooth device require any other device works? such as support for hotkeys.
I can't find the Bluetooth option in PC Settings (more probems with Windows 8.1, I'm still not quite legendary with it )

I had sizzling sound from my notebook speakers after i paired with my iphone 4 bluetooth. I am using that cuz of the hotspot thing. I cant use wifi hotspot cuz at my place i occasionally drop wifi connection from my cell phone cuz of the channel wifi uses. At the beginning i researched net very much and found out cuz of the phone channel is my problem.
Anyway in that hotspot after pair via bluetooth every video or mp3 or game sound starts like 10-15 second sound comes with sizzling, wheezy. After that maybe 1 hour or less it happens again. I am using last updates both win and bluetooth device.
I'm working with a friend with his Sony all in one desktop and got the modem set up and wireless router done but nowi can't get Internet access. I diagnosed the problem and get the message "can't find Dns server". It's running windows 7.

Before I shipped it, It always played the sound that indicated that a bluetooth device was connected. After receiving it, I noticed it had fresh copy of Windows 8 pro on it with drivers, etc. So I updated it to 8.1 and reinstall everything and noticed the bluetooth devices no longer play the sounds when they connect.Tried refreshing, sfc /scannow, and redoing audio drivers.

View 1 Replies View Relatedwhile going through my device manager, a yellow triangle sign caught my attention. It is under the "Sound, video and game controllers' labeled as 'Bluetooth Audio Device". When opening the properties, it says that "This device annot start. (Code 10) Object Path Component was not a directory object.
I went to the MSI website (The laptop is a 4 days old MSI GS70-229) and could not find the corresponding driver for this so called "Bluetooth Audio Device". Windows update was unable to find anything, and the "Roll Back Driver" button was disabled. Driver provider is Qualcomm Atheros Communication.
I think I know what "Bluetooth" is, and since I didn't think I needed it, I disabled it in Device Manager. Also, uninstalled it in Add & Remove programs. But I just ran the 'reliability monitor' / view reliability history, and saw all the "successful" installations of "Bluetooth". There were "nine" listings. More then I removed.
I have been checking what works and doesn't work to speed up and improve performance of my computer. And the plan is very much working. The computer is working great, with average boot times under 40 seconds, and my Firefox browser is 'flying'. Since I am adding some more memory in a day or two, I'm trying to see what works and do a 'reformat', complete reinstallation of the system. Setting up everything the way I want it. "Right" the first time if you will, and then be done with any testing and just using the computer.
Anyway, obviously, I'm not touching "Bluetooth". But what is it, and why does windows 8.1 think I need it. I don't have any wireless stuff, if that's what its for. And I just assumed that if I ever did need 'wireless', I would just download something.
Dell Inspiron 3647 computer, 3GHz, 4 gig's memory, all windows updates, windows 8.1.
I am using Inspiron 1545 which has Dell Wireless 365 Bluetooth Module which is of broadcom. When I try to install driver compatibility issue comes up. It doesnt proceed even though i have marked compatibility as windows 7 or vista too.
I have tried using the broadcom tool to detect the device and install the driver but that also fails to detect the module.
And when i use my second OS windows 7 bluetooth works flawlessly. So its only windows 8 not able to detect my hardware. I have also checked in device manager and there also it is not present.
I have a lenovo thinkpad e430, but, i cannot find the bluetooth device. This is odd because i have installed the latest bluetooth driver for windows eight x64 from lenovo's official support page yet, although i have restarted the computer and though .net framework is installed (if im correct, is there anyway i can check) i cannot find any place to turn on bluetooth.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm not truly the best with computers, and this is a new pop up for me. I just purchased this new dell laptop in May and have had no problems with it. However, in the last few weeks I've been getting a new pop up in the right hand corner. My house hold have a wireless router that is password protected. I have McAfee Security Center updated, and shows that all my firewalls and security systems are on and active.
However, this is the message I get and I'm concerned about my networks safety:
"Unknown PC or device detected
This PC or device has connected to your network:
IP Adress xxxxxxx"
I've opened my action center to make sure everything is okay, and the only thing I find that isn't turned on is the "Network Access Protection" - which is something I haven't touched before, nor does it provide a link in which to turn it on.
