This problem occurs unexpectedly. I usually use my laptop to connect to WIFI in our school then suddenly i cannot detect any wifi connection even bluetooth disappear.
View 9 RepliesMy fully updated Windows 8.1 notebook suddenly will not show any wifi connections when I click on the icon in the system tray (it shows "No Connections are Available", although it is connected, and I can surf and browse normally).
To connect to a new network, I have to manually enter the details of the network, and then it connects. This is something new, since previously it would show all the available networks, and allow me to make a selection (which is normal). What setting could have flipped do enable the above situation?
I have my ethernet cable connected right now, but I can't even load my wifi connections at all. I live in apartments so everyone around me has wifi and my phone and iPad is clearly connected, but it won't load any connections.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I turn on my Toshiba Satellite laptop, it does not see my i-phone hotspot. Wi-Fi status says "No Wi-Fi connections available". I always have to turn the hotspot off and then back on after the laptop is up and running for the laptop to find it. This does not happen with my desktop. It sees the i-phone hotspot without the need to cycle the hotspot off and back on, so I'm thinking that it has to do with the Toshiba rather than the i-phone. Both laptop and desktop are running Windows 8. Not a big problem, but I thought some one may know of a setting which I need to change.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy 8.1 laptop shows multiple network connections to my Samsung Smart TV --- One as "media connections" and 3 as "other connections". Both devices are on a simple wireless network using Linksys WRT54GS.
Under the "Network" page, most of the "Properties" of the TV connections are the same except for "Serial Number" and "Unique Identifier". Did I do something wrong when setting things up? Are these extra connections harmful? Should I delete some? How?
My computer has 2 wireless cards and a gigabit ethernet port. I have my own internet and my neighbors each allow me to connect to their internet. If I were to set the Wi-Fi to connect to theirs, and the ethernet to connect to my internet would I be able to take advantage of the extra bandwidth?

View 4 Replies View RelatedOn my Toshiba laptop (I've only had it since the 8th of August) under Networks it says, "No connections are available". I was playing Diablo3 and then it suddenly said not connected to battletnet. That is besides the point, but I think I might have hit something that turned the wifi off. After failing to fix it with a system restore it blue screened saying something about an error and collecting a data and that it was going to restart itself. Then it said to get more information or something like that the error code was MEMORY_MANAGEMENT. After restarting I thought it was still messed up (it showed no networks available in the lock screen) then I logged on and it still did. Then it showed I was connected to WiFi again, then after leaving for a few brief minutes it was back to no connections available. It did the blue screen thing again and restarted.

So I've set up my desktop PC to function as a portable WiFi hotspot for my other mobile devices. First I used the Cmd Prompt to create a sharing network, but since I had to open that every time I started up the computer, I switched to using a program called MyPublicWiFi (1 click setup).
However, in the last few days, my WiFi connection was getting kind of buggy. (No internet connection with my phone while I was connected to the WiFi network, etc)
Just now, I looked at the Network Connections, and there are 3 LAN connections that weren't there before. (picture: [URL] ....) Are they part of the problem, and how do I remove those networks?
I'm trying to set up VPN to connect immediately upon startup.
I decided to try setting up my VPN in Windows itself, instead of using Open VPN as before.
This is the Windows VPN functionality that's available from the Metro themed interface and . But it's so dumbed-down that I can't even see what type of VPN connection this actually is.
If this connection if PPTP or L2TP? Or something else?
Whichever it is, is that connection considered to have integrity or is it more or less cracked?
Live Tiles missing. I recently refreshed my comp. as i had issues with my live tiles as you can see in the link above. And now none of my tiles connect to the internet. I checked my connections, which is fine.
I keep getting a constant error msg saying that the tiles cannot be displayed as there are no internet connections available.
I user FTP & Telnet a lot to connect to devices on our LAN.
With Windows 8 I've been using ZoneAlarm as my firewall as I found Windows Firewall caused a 5 -10 second delay in every FTP / Telnet Connection.
Last night I upgraded to Windows 8.1 and ZoneAlarm no longer works, so I'm back with the Windows Firewall and the delay in connections.
I've ensured the APPS I use have access via the firewall and they do connect and work fine... but after establishing the connection there is a 5 - 10 second delay in the connection. With ZA this was all instant..
I have a new Dell laptop with Windows 8.1 - I work from home & connect to the internet via my home wifi network. The problem I have been experiencing is that my laptop connects to the internet at boot up but then disconnects for several minutes & then re-connects again. This coincides with the Network & Sharing Centre showing a number of Local Area Connections (numbered 3,4,5,6 etc) being created under Unidentified Public Networks. I have tried disabling the LAC's but they re-enable whenever I re-boot & I have the same issues again. My networking knowledge is very limited so how to rectify this issue.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe computer turn off the wireless connections and defaults into airplane mode. I had this problem with Windows 8. The option to easily toggle airplane mode on and off become grayed out unchangeable. The only way I found to temporarily fix the problem was to rightclick the airplane icon and then troubleshoot the wireless connections which would then turn wireless back on. I had the option to upgrade to 8.1 and I did and it fixed the problem for a while. It did happen again which is why I'm back on the web searching for possible more permanent solution for this. Luckily it only happened once a week ago and hasn't happened again. I was wondering if this bug was known about and if you possibly know of a way to fix.

I googled how to get it back, but when I go to pc settings there is no Wireless tab. I cant turn it on, I've tried reinstalling my wireless card LAN driver, restarting my PC and doing a system restore to the last recommended time, nothing works.
View 9 Replies View RelatedFor some reason I can connect fine when I plug in my wireless receiver port into it, But 30 seconds after I plug it in, the bars disappear And a red X appears over it, if you click on it it'll say no networks found.... The only way to fix it is to plug it in and after 30 seconds it happens again...I'm only getting this on my computer, And it's gotten really bad recently, I've tried replacing the reciever, But that fixed it for maybe an hour....

I use a DGN 1000 , its around 2 years old .I have talked to my ISP (Talk Talk UK) and they tell me they do not support my router. Talked to Netgear via tech support as well and my settings seem to be correct with the newest firmware update.
So I bought this wireless game controller for my pc. I plugged it in at home and set to trying to getting it connected. It didn't seem to be connecting to any bluetooth network, so I looked for bluetooth in control panel and it didn't exist. I found out how to turn on bluetooth, but it seems in my 'Change PC Settings' menu there is no Wireless option. I went to the windows 8 metro thing and searched for 'wireless' and again nothing comes up at all. I checked my network and sharing center and then to change adapter settings and Ive got my Qualcomm Atheros AR922x Wireless Network adapter there and the device is working fine, just not connected to anything. Does that even work for bluetooth and connecting wireless peripherals?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI read somewhere that the Bluetooth physical transmitter sends out some type of signal into the environment. I also read that it's probably not harmful... but since I probably will not be using Bluetooth in the immediate future, it's probably better off.
Is there an easy way in Windows 8 to shut off Bluetooth for now?
The issue is that I am unable to send files (pictures, in particular) to my laptop via Bluetooth. I have verified that the problem is with my PC rather than my phone by pairing and sending files to a different computer. I have tried everything I know to try, un-pairing and re-pairing, re-installed Intel Bluetooth drivers, uninstalled the phone from Device Manager and re-installed it, made sure the correct services were running, checked firewall settings, and synchronized PIM data.
I am able to send files to my phone from my laptop. After doing a few hours of research, it seems like a handful of folks (me included) do not have all of the Bluetooth options when clicking on the Bluetooth icon from the system tray. The main options I am missing are "Send Files" and "Receive Files".
I started fsquirt and selected "Receive Files", but sending still fails. When selecting "Open Settings" from the Bluetooth icon in the tray, I am taken to a nice little option menu. All of the correct settings are checked, but the interesting thing is that when I click on the "Open Receiving Window" button on the "Shared Folder" tab, absolutely nothing happens. No error, just nothing.
Under Windows 7-- whatever bluetooth software I had used to let me connect to my bluetooth enabled phone and browse the memory for pictures, videos, etc to download. I see no such option on Windows 8
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got a new Windows 8 laptop, a Lenovo Y510p, and I've been having several wireless issues with it. Pretty early on my computer froze up so I had to force it to shut down. After resolving the issue, I was unable to load any websites, however a flush of the dns cache fixed the problem right up. Fast forward a few hours, and suddenly I can't connect to the router in my dorm room-I just suddenly lost my connection and now I can't reconnect.
My roommate has a router set up for our room connected to an internet jack in the wall. It is configured as WPA2-PSK. I usually connect to this when in the room, but now I can't-windows just says "can't connect to this network". There is wifi throughout the dorm already, which I can connect to just fine, however the signal isn't as strong.

I have a 600Kbits per sc connection, cable modem so my downloading speed is around 60-70 kbytes/s same in utorrent and in browser downloads, i use windows 8.1 pro, 64 bits, recently my google chrome was turning slow and firefox too, i dunno if my pc was infected by viruses. i scanned wit havast and bitdefender free versions and found nothing.and yesterday when i tried to download a pdf file, i dunno why nut download speed was horrible, started with 24 and then it was like 3-4 kbytes/s and it even failed later.
I thought it was a connection problem so i restarted my connection, browsing was fine everything except downloading seemed okay.
I tried doing the same things with different browsers like firefox or internet explorer but the problem was same.
When i tried utorrent, it was perfectly normal, it gave the usual download speed of 60-70 kbytes/s so it seems the problem was onl in downloading with browsers and no problem with browsing and utorrent. I hard resetted my pc and reinstalled fresh copy of win 8.1 but again twas the same.did it 3 times already but no change. I dunno if it is a virus or something but i am exhausted, ( before formatting my pc , i backed up my files in an external hdd so it may be possible that if there is a virus involved then it may have came back due to my external hdd)
I checked Speedtest.net by Ookla - The Global Broadband Speed Test and there too, showed 0.56 mbps , so it was normal there too
I have never used 'Bluetooth' before. I want to transfer a file between my laptop and Android tablet. I turned Bluetooth 'on' (which I have installed the latest driver) on my Windows 8.1 laptop. I turned Bluetooth 'on' on my Android 4.1.1 tablet. I had my laptop search for 'Bluetooth' devices, but my tablet is never found. Is there something I am doing wrong?

On my MacBook Pro I can go into the network settings and change the location profile I have setup for networks but I don't see anything like this for Windows 8.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have connected my ipod touch 4g to my new windows 8 laptop via bluetooth. It shows up in both the ipod and in the windows settings as being connected. However, once connected, i am unable to do anything with the connection.
There is no Windows tile showing the ipod, no obvious options in the ipod for how I can do anything with the connection, nothing. What am I supposed to be able to do once I have connected them via bluetooth? Is there a step I'm missing? I've read you can stream podcasts to the computer, for example, but there's supposed to be a windows tile showing the ipod which I'm definitely not getting either in the start menu or when I search.
I have a laptop with Windows 8.1 x64 with everything up to date. It has the Intel Wireless-N 7260 card, that has Bluetooth 4.0.
I've added my smartphone, and I can send files from my laptop to my smartphone. But when I try to send something from my device to my laptop, it fails. My laptop doesn't show any prompt about "Do you wanna receive this file" or something like that. My smartphone shows a "Sending file..." dialog, but nothing happens.
I installed the stock Bluetooth driver provided by the manufacturer of the laptop, but nothing changed except for one thing: my smartphone automatically sent me that the shared file failed. With the latest BT driver, the dialog of "Sending file..." stays for a long time.
This happens with all the smartphones I've tried. I formatted the laptop like a month ago, and BT at that time was working perfectly, I could send and receive files. My laptop is working great except for this annoying problem.
