View 4 RepliesI have installed Windows 8 on my XPS M1530.
All good, but the Windows 8 swipe gestures do not work on the touchpad.
I installed the Alps touchpad driver that was working on windows 7, but the special windows 8 gestures still don't work.
I reinstalled my 8.1 pro (legal copy, disk been fully formatted) and it was okay for few hours. Next time im starting the laptop, my keyboard and touchpad doesnt work. I plugged USB mouse and keyboard and it works just fine. I went to device manager and besides Standart PS/2 keyboard and mouse icons there was orange triangle meaning that i have problem with drivers. I searched drivers online, but unsuccsessily.. After few hours of trying to fix it, my Standart PS/2 Keyboard turned into Unknown device and now im completely lost. Adding photo of device manager

Originally came with windows vista 32-bit, so recently I upgraded to windows 8.1 32 bit after about a month the track pad and keyboard BOTH came un-responsive, and in the device manager, it's coming up with a "COPROCESSOR" error.
Although there are already quite a few drivers for Windows 8, I can't find an updated version fo the touchpad-driver /-software. I don't want to seem impatient, I'd just like to know if DELL is aware of this and if an ipdated version is planned.
View 14 Replies View RelatedInstalled 32-bit Win 8.1 onto a Dell D610 (Pentium M 1.86GHz 2GB RAM) and it really works very well. Except for one nagging problem - the 4 left/right click buttons do not work! I have tried several drivers and all give full touch pad functionality (scroll and tap/click) and the keyboard stick works - but both sets of left and right buttons refuse to do anything. All worked with Win 7, so I assume it is a driver problem. I currently have a Logitech USB wireless mouse attached which works fine, but I would like to get the buttons on the laptop functioning.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy N5110 has Alps TouchPad, but latest drivers for Windows 8 but it seems that they don't include new features... Whats the point changing the version number of the driver and says its Windows 8 compatible?!
Why new gestures aren't included? When will they be included?
I have just finished downloading the Win8 upgrade of 2.6 GB. There was a munu for me to choose "Intall" or "Install by creating a disc". I have choose "Install by creating a disc" > Next > Save the ISO file at my drive C. The file was a Window Zip file . I want to write this file to my DVD, I copied it from drive C ans paste it to my DVD and click Burn to CD. The system takes about 5 minutes to complete the burning. However, when I want to install Win 8 from this CD, I find that the file still is a Window zip file. I use Winzip to open it, but could not find the "RUN" button.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI bought a new Inspiron with Win 8 a couple days ago. I was setting it up today and put in a my user name and password. I tried connecting to a network share and it wasn't working. I realized that I had my Windows user name spelled wrong. I went and changed the name then tried again and it still wouldn't work. I rebooted to see if it would work. When I got to the login screen the corrected name was there but it would not accept my password. I thought maybe I'd not entered the password I thought I did and tried several variations and could not get it to work.
I did not create a password recovery disk. I did not burn the Dell system recovery disks. I literally set up Windows for the first time, tried connecting to network shares, rebooted and now cannot get into the computer. I am stumped. I cannot seem to find the way to get to the Windows recovery after rebooting. I read about how I could get to safe mode from there but I can't find it. I reboot, hit shift+F8 and can get into some Dell hardware diagnostics utility and if I exit I can hit F12 and get some boot options none of which seem to do me any good.
I have no problem with reinstalling Windows but I don't have a recovery disk. I'm about this close to returning it to the store. What do I do?
One day old Insiron R 5521 of mine has a problem. I get the error -"Recovery , Your PC needs to be repaired. The application or OS couldn't load because a required file is missing or contains errors. Error Code: - 0xc0000225 File:Windowssystem32winload.efi "

Is it possible to upgrade from Windows 8 32bit to Windows 8 x64bit or trick the PC into thinking its x64bit so I can install x64bit programs
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been stuck without windows tiles for quite some time now. I've attempted many of the various tips and tricks out there to get this problem fixed. The one I can't try is the system refresh because the windows tiles don't work which mean I can't open PC Settings to get that started.
Is there a way I can do this without having to open PC Settings which wont actually open.
i have windows 8 installed and would love to upgrade to windows 8.1 but because the tiles dont work i cant open the windows store. Just like most people out there the other tiles work like chrome etc just not the standard windows 8 ones. no i dont have any additional antivirus or firewalls turned on. Yes I've tried to reset the tile service, yes I've tried the app diagnostic tool. Nothing is working.
On my v131, I newly installed windows 8, then I can't find the quickset for win8, so I installed quickset for win7. It partially works, because when I press the "wrench" button, it will trigger dell support center, but when I press the "gears" button, it won't trigger the quickset.exe but as the action as "winkey+x".
how to make it work again?

How to have my Windows 8.1 recovered?
I have an Inspiron 17R SE 7720 and yesterday evening I updated from windows 8 to windows 8.1. This went good. Only this morning I noticed my webcam don't work anymore. Before the update it worked fine. I use it daily to talk with my girl.
The only applicatie we use it for is facebook. When I use Dell Systeem Detect, and I let it check my webcam, it shows and it gives images. So I think it is not a problem of the hardware.
I also tried to download Dell Webcam Manager 2.0 but that says I dont have a special card in my laptop. Also when typed in my service tag in de website, I didn't get any new drivers / programs for the webcam.
I created DVD and USB backups to my new Windows 8 Inspiron laptop; I needed to recover the next day, and the Hard Disk recovery partition and the USB were reported as corrupt! On a brand new system with a brand new USB stick!
On attempting to recover with the DVDs, after using the first one the Dell recovery program said 100% complete, so didn't even read the next 2. The recovery showed a "restart" button, and of course nothing happened!
How do I get recovery media for Windows 8?
I recently just upgraded to windows 8 and notice that my media card reader is not working. My usb works fine but when I try putting in my memory card on the slot, nothing happens. Is there a program I have to download or a driver??
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have an Inspiron 7520 and uninstalled and reinstalled the new version of Dell Backup and Recovery Manager -- upgraded to premium to make sure that I would have full ability to use the program. Note: the old version didn't work at all -- hung up on backup, etc. I have rebooted.
When I try and open the Manager interface, I can't. All I get is the clock logo with the hand spinning. I cannot set the destination. I cannot select what I want to back up. I've tried this several times and just get the spinning clock which I end up ending through Task Manager.
I have tried opening the Manager from the installed link on desktop, from my list of programs, from the Start menu, and from the tray icon. Nothing works.
I have a Dell laptop Inspiron 15R 7537 that came with Windows 8. Yesterday I upgraded to Windows 8.1. Everything seemed to work fine after the upgrade. I shut down and re-booted several times with no issues. When I turned the computer on as usual today, I got the log in screen, then it briefly went to the desktop, then came a gray screen that blocks 99% of the desk top. This gray screen says "please wait" and has a cancel button at the bottom. It hangs forever and the cancel button doesn't work. It gives no other information.
I read several threads on the Microsoft Windows forum and this seems to be a common problem. How to boot using the Windows 8 recovery media disk that came with the Dell computer. I selected Troubleshoot, then Advanced Options, then Automatic Repair. I got a message that it couldn't do an automatic repair, so that didn't work. Next I tried System Restore, but I got a message that there were no restore points available from which to restore. Just to clarify - the Recovery Media Disk I have from Dell is for Windows 8 - not 8.1 - so maybe that's the problem.
The computer is totally worthless the way it is now, so unless there is some fix for the hanging gray screen in Windows 8.1, I would be happy just to reload the original Windows 8 Operating System. At least that worked.
current versions of Jump Desktop for iOS and xtralogic remote desktop for android is that they allow you to switch the touchscreen to touchpad mode, and then control the pointer with the screen like a touchpad instead of having to hit something with your fingertip. This great for when you need a precise pointer, or for controlling the cursor from a corner without having to release your grip on the device, but in addition to that, on Windows 8 I could also see potentially using this to control a second monitor (like a TV) with your touch monitor (say the newly announced wireless lenovo monitor connected to a windows 8 HTPC).
I don't have windows 8 yet, but I was wondering if there was any such utility for windows 8 currently or in development. If the thin and light wifi monitor idea takes off, it would be great for an HTPC - you could play video on the TV while browsing or such on the tablet, yet you would only have to have and use one computer.
For photographers and artists you could use the USB3 version of the display or small touch capable cintiq on your desk in front of you, pushing your keyboard and mouse out of the way, but with a quick mode switch you could still control your main monitor without shuffling things around (something I've found frustrating when switching between a traditional wacom tablet and keyboard - something is always out of easy reach). Of course that also assumes you could still bring up the on screen keyboard on the touch display.
I found the sequence to uninstall the driver, and it told me that was done.
The touchpad still is dysfunctional, interrupting typing.
fn+f7 doesn't work either.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWindows update has been really messing with my pc lately. I ran update and when it installed the updates my integrated mouse ended up not working. I rolled back update and installed the updates one by one and the one I ended up not installing was the camera codec pack. Now the problem I am having is that my touchscreen won't work. If I talk to HP support they do the most basic thing they can and then when they can't fix it they tell me that I have to ship it to them because hardware is broken.
