Dell :: Windows 8.1 Recovery Disc Won't Work - Progress 53% Completed

I have already created two Recovery Disc for my Dell 15R 5537 with OS Windows 8.1. Yesterday, i tried to create a partition and mess up the whole laptop. I tried to use the two Recovery Disc to bring the laptop back to its original factory OS. I booted with Disc 1 and works fine; when Disc 1 finished, it ejected, and I put the Disc 2 in. Then it no longer continue. It stuck at:

OK - Backing up Dell Backup and Recovery settings...
Then, the "Preparing your hard driver..." just keep turning and won't go any further for several hours.
I just bought Dell Inspiron 14, 3421 yesterday and trying to create Disc from Backup and Recovery Software provided by Dell.
I have bought this india and found mulitple post facing the problem what I am facing. I have upgraded Dell Support Center and Also Dell Backup and Recovery using the Update tile. I have windows 8. BIOS A04.
These are the problems I am facing....
Problem1: After writing to Disc1, it does not accept 2nd disc and keep ejecting 2nd disc again and again
Problem2: Even if I insert USB, the software still does not dectect USB.
I am not able to create any backup even after trying 3-4 times.
I am trying to create a recovery media for my Inspiron 15R laptop. I have followed the steps as per the instructions given in manual.I want to create the recovery media on DVD disc. I am selecting disc as the option but every time i m getting the error as " The burning engine was not able to start, please restart the application. I have wasted my whole day trying to create the recovery media...
I have an Inspiron 7520 and uninstalled and reinstalled the new version of Dell Backup and Recovery Manager -- upgraded to premium to make sure that I would have full ability to use the program. Note: the old version didn't work at all -- hung up on backup, etc. I have rebooted.
When I try and open the Manager interface, I can't. All I get is the clock logo with the hand spinning. I cannot set the destination. I cannot select what I want to back up. I've tried this several times and just get the spinning clock which I end up ending through Task Manager.
I have tried opening the Manager from the installed link on desktop, from my list of programs, from the Start menu, and from the tray icon. Nothing works.
I created DVD and USB backups to my new Windows 8 Inspiron laptop; I needed to recover the next day, and the Hard Disk recovery partition and the USB were reported as corrupt! On a brand new system with a brand new USB stick!
On attempting to recover with the DVDs, after using the first one the Dell recovery program said 100% complete, so didn't even read the next 2. The recovery showed a "restart" button, and of course nothing happened!
This is for a Samsung NP550P5C... having typed it into Google, the options appear a little confusing with the best option being how to make recovery discs for an HP laptop (presumably using HP's built in wizard), requiring 4 DVD's. Other suggestions seem to tell you how to make a "Repair" disc for Windows 8 with one readers comments of.....
" Windows 8 recovery Disk is used to reset your PC - it is supposed to reload the operating system and restore factory default settings. You need a USB flash drive 16GB or larger. I haven't found yet a way to create Windows 8 recovery CD/DVD, which can be used to reinstall the operating system."
It's not even clear how to do it on a Flash Drive though I would prefer using discs...
My Gateway machine was performing a windows update when the neighbourhood power went out. It was off for four hours. When I went to turn the computer back on, it said automatic repair the diagnosing your pc.....that lasted about 5 hours! Then a blue screen with options came up. When I went to pick the advanced options, I clicked accidentally on the first one and it rebooted into the repair loop again. Since it takes so long for the diagnostic part, when the blue screen came up again it was likely the middle of the night.
I saw it at 7:00 am and tried to click the advanced options but the computer had gone to sleep by then and so once again it got rebooted into the loop. Gateway refused to support since the warranty is up. I can't find a Recovery disc image for 8.1 to put on a usb stick, and I'm back to trying to find answers on my 12 year old machine running XP. I tried the boot to safe mode with alt+F10 but can't get that to work either. If I knew how to force a reset to factory defaults without being able to get into windows I would. I've been doing this for 3 days now and I was just starting to like 8.1 too...
I want to create recovery disc (from recovery partition of my laptop), but I'm not able to do it in Win 8.1. They removed this option in Win 8.1.
I'm able to create recovery usb. I tried to copy all files from usb to BluRay and burn (in Linux). But I'm not able to boot from BluRay, boot from USB work's. how to create bootable BluRay? Or how to copy files from usb to BluRay and make BluRay bootable?
In Windows 8.1 they removed option to create bootable DVD/BluRay recovery. Only USB drive left.
I bought new laptop with recovery partition and I want to move backup to DVD's/BluRay. How can I do that? I don't want to do backup of backup. I want to recovery directly from DVD's/BluRay.
So using of tools, which backup this recovery parition isn't solution. Than I have to restore partition and from partition restore system. I tried backup on usb and burn all files to disc, but BluRay didn't became bootable. USB was.
One of the first things I did when I had my new PC last year was to make a set of recovery discs. Now having used the free upgrade to Windows 8.1 I would like to make a set of backup discs for this version, however, my pc say that a set has already been made and I can only make the one set.
If things stay like this, when I want to do a recovery using either the hdd partition or the discs I made, it installs Windows 8 and then I have to install what seems like a million updates before I then have to go back to the store and do the upgrade to 8.1.
Is there a way I can make a recovery dvd's for the 8.1 version ?
I am working on a Toshiba Satellite C855D (Windows 8 originally) that would not boot. I tried the repair, restore, and recovery but that did not work. So I used a recovery disc from a Toshiba C55D (Windows 8.1) and got it working. The problem I have is the c855d now shows as the c55d. My question is does the product key come from the motherboard or the software.
I have windows 7 installed on my 1gb drive and have a second 2gb drive so I thought I could install windows 8 on the second drive but did not unplug the windows 7 drive anyway the windows 8 installation completed but would not boot up. So now I have to unplug my backup drive to boot up it comes up with the windows 8 sybol and then gives me the option to load my previous windows 7 which load successfully. My question is does any one know how I can get rid of the windows 8 and go back to my normal windows 7 start up. I can then install windows 8 on my second drive with the first drive unplugged.
I bought a brand new Acer Aspire xc600 today and it had Windows 8 installed. First thing me and my husband did was to try to install win7 (as we dislike Windows 8 for many reasons)... When it didnt work with just putting in the cd and install, we (stupidly without making recovery discs as we thought we would never need it) formated the drive and made it completely clean before installing win7 (which works now). This means we have no Windows 8 recovery disc or E-recovery management program and therefor cant do factory reset and return this piece of crap pc... (We play world of warcraft and my 7year old pc has only been updated once when it comes to graphic card to geforce 9800 and still perform better outside the game).
The performance test of the whole system give the graphics a lousy 5.0 which is worse than my husbands 3yr old graphic card as well! Only numbers that have increased is the RAM and CPU.
I feel disappointed as the graphics card should be better than mine or my husbands and have better performance even if its the "laptop sized card".
So to the issue, is there a way we could restore/reinstall the computer to factory settings with Windows 8 and Acers drivers as it was when we started it up earlier today?
I am trying to create recovery discs from "Dell backup and Recovery application" however when i was asked to insert the second DVD,the optical drive keeps rejecting the DVD. The application will not continue to burn the second DVD and appears to be frozen. I tried with different brands/makers of DVD and also -/+ R. Unfortunately .Issue remains. Although i have done the updates ,i am still not able to create recovery discs !! Current Issue: after inserting the 3rd Disc application gives the following message "Dbr.exe -No disc found" and stays there and rejects the DVD. I spoke with Dell's Greek Support team. I was told that warranty does not cover sw support even if my unit is less than a week old. Furthermore i was informed that although "Dell backup and recovery" application says DELL is not actually a Dell product thus they can't support it. They suggested my to use windows 7 file recovery instead (which needs at least 8 DVDs !).
I have created a Windows 8 Recovery Drive from another machine. I have inserted it into the defective machine and have changed the BIOS to make the USB the first boot device. The machine just goes to a black screen and nothing happens.
I've been stuck without windows tiles for quite some time now. I've attempted many of the various tips and tricks out there to get this problem fixed. The one I can't try is the system refresh because the windows tiles don't work which mean I can't open PC Settings to get that started.
Is there a way I can do this without having to open PC Settings which wont actually open.
i have windows 8 installed and would love to upgrade to windows 8.1 but because the tiles dont work i cant open the windows store. Just like most people out there the other tiles work like chrome etc just not the standard windows 8 ones. no i dont have any additional antivirus or firewalls turned on. Yes I've tried to reset the tile service, yes I've tried the app diagnostic tool. Nothing is working.
On my v131, I newly installed windows 8, then I can't find the quickset for win8, so I installed quickset for win7. It partially works, because when I press the "wrench" button, it will trigger dell support center, but when I press the "gears" button, it won't trigger the quickset.exe but as the action as "winkey+x".
I have build a new pc, went to turn on File History and set it up and it began to restore from an old build. It is not restoring (and i don't need it too) but it is stuck. It won't turn off, or finish or fail. Been weeks now.
The location does exist, but regardless, I have deleted the files already.
how to force it to be clean config w/o re-installing Windows?
I have a Dell 15r and a Recovery Media for Windows 8 in DVD.
I would like to be able to install Windows 8 (UEFI) from an USB drive. I've already tried the usual methods (Microsoft and also some 3rd party tools to create an USB-bootable media), but I got different kind of errors. It seems the image is not compatible with these methods.
I have a brand new Xps 15, with 512 GB solid state hard drive.
I tried to install ubuntu in a dual boot mode reserving 60 GB on the hard drive as a partition for linux. The installation went fine but I wasn't able to boot windows anymore, so I decided to restore windows with the factory settings.
After the recovery only 480 GB are visible in the hard drive, whereas before trying to install linux the overall space on the hard drive was more than 500 GB.
How can I restore the previous disk format and space?
I purchased a Dell Inspiron 15 pre-installed with Windows 8, then after I upgraded to 8.1. How do I make sure I have bootable disks or a backup copy of Windows in case there was a system failure since the PC didn't come with a copy of Windows in CD format?
Cannot create a Restore Point. I try thru Control Panel -> System and Security -> System -> System Protection.
No available drives show under Protection Settings.
When I try to launch thru System Config -> System Restore, a pop-up tells me Starting System restore, but that just hangs there forever. I have to stop it in Task Manager.
I have tried sfc - no reported problems.
Malwarebytes Pro and anti-virus report no problems.
I have clicked on the download button in the App Store (used a link obtained from the Verge article). My screen just jumps to the main App Store screen, and I see no indication that anything is downloading or in progress.
How can I verify that a download is in progress?Do I have 2 downloads going now that I did this twice?

I have inspiron 14r 5420 (with windows 8 ) . I have problems with the laptop after a few days and earlier i had did recover media to 2 CDs. Now during the boot it was verifying my laptop and it say that it would reset the pc to factory backup. Will this process require a format.
I have a Inspiron 530S. Installed Windows 8 a few weeks ago and Minecraft will not work. Others say with Windows 8 they had to delete Minecraft and reinstall. Tried this but it gives me an error for the OS and graphics.
My Dell XPS One 2710 was delivered with Windows 8 with wrong language. Dell therefore sent me a Windows 8 MUI Recovery Media-DVD, and told me to follow the instructions on this link: [URL] .....
At the first installation attempt I got to a point where a pop up asked for drivers. I didn't know which drivers, and I thought everything was included on the DVD (but even the DVD-ROM wasn't recognized, only "Boot (X:)"). I read a tip in the Dell forum to change the boot setup to legacy. So I did and I got a few steps further to the point where you shall choose the partition(s) under the custom menu. But no partitions were found. Perhaps the reason was the 32 GB mSATA with Intel rapid storage technology.
So I did exactly the following:
1. I downloaded the newest version of the IRST-driver and extracted the files to a USB device. 2. I booted from the recovery DVD (UEFI, safety mode: ON). 3. When it asked for the driver I installed the IRST-driver from the USB device (AHCI, 64 bit, located in the driver-folder - the only words I recognized from the forums... 0:). 4. A total of six partitions were shown: Partition 1 ("ESP", System), partition 2 ("DIAGS", OEM (reserved)), partition 3 (MSR (reserved)), partition 4 ("WINRETOOLS", recovery), partition 5 ("OS", primary), and partition 6 ("PBR Image", recovery). 5. I followed the instructions in the link (above) and deleted all of the partitions. 6. I installed Windows 8 on the new partition, without further complications. 7. I ran Windows Update. 8. I installed the Dell drivers for this service tag, in the order specified by Dell, starting with chipset, card reader, IRST, audio, video, network and everything else, and with a reboot between every single driver installation. The system, including the IRST, seems to work fine so far (no exclamation marks in the Device Manager). 9. I replaced some of the software, including Dell Backup and Recovery.
I started Dell Backup and Recovery and the program initially told me that it couldn't find a recovery partition, and therefore couldn't backup the system. Other programs in the Control Panel, like File History and Storage Spaces, can't find available drives.
The Disk Management tells me the following about my 1 TB HDD:
So finally to my questions: Should I have kept one or more of the recovery partitions during the Windows 8 installation? Could this affect Windows' System Restore (I guess not since Windows creates its own recovery partitions)?
And finally: Is Dell Backup and Recovery any useful? I already have the recovery DVD in case I need a factory reset. For backup purposes I will use a cloud service, and maybe a NAS in the future. Do I even need a recovery partition?
In july 2013 I have installed windows 7 (because of s/w that I had to use and were not supported by windows 8) on my Dell Inspiron (Service Tag DYGGMV1, I know its out of warranty) and was guided by dell support and was assured that I will be able to again install windows 8 with recovery media, and when I requested for Windows 8 setup CD and key I was told its not needed as I have recovery media with me. Now I am willing to shift to windows 8 again but recovery media is showing error ( error 0x4001100200001005).
I have an Inspiron 17R SE 7720 and yesterday evening I updated from windows 8 to windows 8.1. This went good. Only this morning I noticed my webcam don't work anymore. Before the update it worked fine. I use it daily to talk with my girl.
The only applicatie we use it for is facebook. When I use Dell Systeem Detect, and I let it check my webcam, it shows and it gives images. So I think it is not a problem of the hardware.
I also tried to download Dell Webcam Manager 2.0 but that says I dont have a special card in my laptop. Also when typed in my service tag in de website, I didn't get any new drivers / programs for the webcam.
I recently just upgraded to windows 8 and notice that my media card reader is not working. My usb works fine but when I try putting in my memory card on the slot, nothing happens. Is there a program I have to download or a driver??
I'm trying to run the Dell Backup and Recovery application on a new windows 8 xps 8500. Unfortunately all the tile labels are only showing IDS tags eg: IDS_DS_022,IDS_DS_003 and when I click on a tile the subsequent window is also full of different IDS tags. I've tried reinstalling the app but no change.
