View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm using Windows 8.1 with the latest updated google chrome browser.
What happens when i scroll i keep getting squares, Like this.
It took a while to get a pic of these because they would disappear supper fast. Here is a pic of them.
Every 20 or so minutes I have to keep going into my mouse settings to change the Verticle Scroll speed back up to 4, up from the default 1. This problem has been occurring since I got this laptop in november last year, and I've been up for 2 and a half hours trying to finally fix this tedious problem, I'm starting to lose hope and it's getting to the point where it makes me not want to even get on the computer. My Dell Touchpad program that came with the computer is always turned off when the mouse is plugged in, so that can't be why.
There are two ways for me to change the scroll speed, by going into the Windows 8 PC Settings>PC & Devices>Mouse & Touchpad, and the mouse properties that are in the control panel. When I change the Mouse & Touchpad settings they change the settings in the mouse properties but not vice-versa.
There is no KH-whatever file in my startup list.
Synaptics drivers for touchpad are up to date, as is the mouse driver.
My mouse is a Engage Optical Mouse, I've had it for about 2 years and I never had a problem with it on my last computer. My current laptop is a Dell Inspiron M531R-5535.
Just acquired my first win 8 laptop. I had a loaner win 8 and hated everything between the computer and OS. I really like this Lenovo but im still having issues with win 8. Mainly this computer and the rental one seems very bogged down. Everything from social media or streaming etc even scrolling down this forum page has such a Lag or delay. Is this typical for win 8, can i do anything about this?
the lag is a delay. everytime I would scroll down a page it would have a delay, or if i stream a video (I use chromecast) it is delayed and choppy. My Win 7 Laptop had zero issues like these.

Text "Red Shift" during vertical scrolling? I've noticed it with Firefox 27.0, Pale Moon 24,3,2, and Operax64 12.14. The text on forums looks normal until I move the vertical scrollbar with the mouse. While the text is moving it takes on a red tint. As soon as the scrolling stops, it reverts to normal color. Pretty weird. Only thing I did lately was use a program to calibrate the Gamma.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI don't like the two finger scrolling on Windows 8 for Asus. It works decent but I still prefer the old fashions one finger scrolling it seems to be more fluid when scrolling through pages. For me it still feels unnatural to use two fingers; I want my Windows 8 PC back and toss the mac feature for two finger scrolling. I'm not sure why Asus added this because it really ruins my Windows 8 experience as scrolling is an essential function for workflow. I'll put it this way if one finger scrolling was enabled I would have a 10 out of 10 experience versus two finger scrolling I would have a 7 out of 10 experience.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am totally unhappy about windows 8. Many good features from earlier windows are missing such as -
1) You can not pin "Calculator" to the task bar. In earlier versions you could open the calculator, over other windows.
2) While scrolling to folders / files in Explorer or any software, the screen jumps abruptly to up or down.
3) While transferring Images from camera. You can not select part images for transfer along with renaming. This feature was available in Windows XP.
Is there any way to disable scrolling on the start screen or change the tile scaling by a small amount? I've got a 1680x1050 monitor and when there's 10 medium sized tiles across the screen, it activates the scroll bar, but there's no need for the scroll bar as all the tiles fit on the screen fine and scrolling only shifts them by a few pixels.
How to change the number of rows and a scaling tool that didn't work.
I got my scrolling wheel inverted due to powershell command i tried to check how it feels in the inverted way. but now i'm not feeling good and i want to go back to my normal scrolling. if i scroll down it should go down and up for up vice versa.
View 9 Replies View Relatedcurrent versions of Jump Desktop for iOS and xtralogic remote desktop for android is that they allow you to switch the touchscreen to touchpad mode, and then control the pointer with the screen like a touchpad instead of having to hit something with your fingertip. This great for when you need a precise pointer, or for controlling the cursor from a corner without having to release your grip on the device, but in addition to that, on Windows 8 I could also see potentially using this to control a second monitor (like a TV) with your touch monitor (say the newly announced wireless lenovo monitor connected to a windows 8 HTPC).
I don't have windows 8 yet, but I was wondering if there was any such utility for windows 8 currently or in development. If the thin and light wifi monitor idea takes off, it would be great for an HTPC - you could play video on the TV while browsing or such on the tablet, yet you would only have to have and use one computer.
For photographers and artists you could use the USB3 version of the display or small touch capable cintiq on your desk in front of you, pushing your keyboard and mouse out of the way, but with a quick mode switch you could still control your main monitor without shuffling things around (something I've found frustrating when switching between a traditional wacom tablet and keyboard - something is always out of easy reach). Of course that also assumes you could still bring up the on screen keyboard on the touch display.
I found the sequence to uninstall the driver, and it told me that was done.
The touchpad still is dysfunctional, interrupting typing.
fn+f7 doesn't work either.
I was wondering if there is a way in OS8 to alter the mouse/touchpad sensitivity and speed as was possible in OS7 and Vista. I have a 17" laptop and it would massively work with movement around the screen.

I tried to remove and uninstall but it just keeps putting it back on and refuses to stay closed. I have tried to reduce sensitivity and do everything recommended to resolve this by adjusting through the driver / device manager/ etc.... right now I have it fully uninstalled and it is still running! what the heck can i do?

Since my Update from Win 7 64bit to Win8 the touchpad didn´t work. Tested the alps and synaptics Driver. But both dind´t work. (Hardware ID is named as ACPIPNP0F134&1923AA7D&0)

All good, but the Windows 8 swipe gestures do not work on the touchpad.
I installed the Alps touchpad driver that was working on windows 7, but the special windows 8 gestures still don't work.
Although there are already quite a few drivers for Windows 8, I can't find an updated version fo the touchpad-driver /-software. I don't want to seem impatient, I'd just like to know if DELL is aware of this and if an ipdated version is planned.
View 14 Replies View RelatedRecently I've upgraded my toshiba laptop with w7 to Windows 8.1 (without keeping any settings), but I cant get my synaptics touchpad to work.
Windows automatically installed some drivers for the touchpad but it didnt work. Then I downloaded newest generic drivers from synaptics website but they wouldnt install - I get an "installation failed" error without any elaboration.
So I've installed synaptics driver that was provided for my laptop for win 7. It installed nicely, but the touchpad still doesnt work - disabling/enabling it in synaptics tab in mouse settings doesnt change anything.
I thought that maybe now the generic driver will install that I have an older synaptics version installed and not some random windows driver, but no, the installation still fails.
The story unfolds :P Next I downloaded toshiba synaprics driver for win 8.1 that was developed for some newer laptop model as mine is no longer supported. The installation went smoothly but the touchpad still doesnt work.....
I was updating my drivers, and had wanted to update my Synaptics driver. I had removed the older version of Synaptics driver (because I was required to) and wanted to restart. My computer restarts, and I try to install the latest version of the Synaptics driver, it doesn't work. It says "install failed." I have tried multiple times.
View 5 Replies View RelatedInstalled 32-bit Win 8.1 onto a Dell D610 (Pentium M 1.86GHz 2GB RAM) and it really works very well. Except for one nagging problem - the 4 left/right click buttons do not work! I have tried several drivers and all give full touch pad functionality (scroll and tap/click) and the keyboard stick works - but both sets of left and right buttons refuse to do anything. All worked with Win 7, so I assume it is a driver problem. I currently have a Logitech USB wireless mouse attached which works fine, but I would like to get the buttons on the laptop functioning.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI updated on my Asus K750JN laptop the Nvidia and Intel drivers from the Asus site and following that my Touchpad looses its settings every time the laptop goes to sleep / logoff / or reboots.
Then I removed the Touchpad driver from the Device mgr and try to re install it but I get this message: "There is a problem with this window installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel"
I downloaded the Touchpad driver again from Asus but get the same message. How can I re install this driver?
I bought a ASUS K450jf last week, with windows 8, and last night I updated it to windows 8.1.
I the start panel, the touchpad has a oversensitivity that is completely annoying. I'm just moving the cursor from one side to the other and it opens up the app in which i lift my fingers from the touchpad, or even completely random apps, with more incidence in the xbox music thing or the bing news.
I bought one of these Logitech Touch Lapdesk N600 Review | Everything USB It has a slide out touchpad and it is really really good as it is big -- BUT -- I can't get it to do the swipe from the edge thing to slide out the Charms bar (if that's what it is called) Of course I can use the keyboard to slide the bar out, but I'd like to be able to use the trackpad. The built in trackpad on the laptop does it, so I don't think it is unreasonable to expect the N600 to do that too. Or is it?
I have tried the "latest" software but that has made no difference.
how to make this happen or is there a better USB/WiFi trackpad I can get that does?
TouchPad keeps freezing up on my Dell Inspirion N411Z while using Windows 8-64 bit. I have to close the lid and open it back up to unfreeze it.
