How To Disable Two Finger Scrolling On Asus N56dp Series
Mar 23, 2013
I don't like the two finger scrolling on Windows 8 for Asus. It works decent but I still prefer the old fashions one finger scrolling it seems to be more fluid when scrolling through pages. For me it still feels unnatural to use two fingers; I want my Windows 8 PC back and toss the mac feature for two finger scrolling. I'm not sure why Asus added this because it really ruins my Windows 8 experience as scrolling is an essential function for workflow. I'll put it this way if one finger scrolling was enabled I would have a 10 out of 10 experience versus two finger scrolling I would have a 7 out of 10 experience.
Windows 8 user. Is there a way to reverse the one finger scrolling on a new laptop? I reversed it for the two finger scrolling in the touchpad settings but there wasn't a similar checkbox for the one finger.
I bought the Asus Zenbook Touch (ux31a-bhi5t11) yesterday, and the 2 finger scrolling worked fine at first, but a couple hours later it just stopped working. I can scroll using the touch screen, but not the touch pad now. It's brand new, and I haven't touched any of the settings, so I don't know why it would just quit.
Is there any way to disable scrolling on the start screen or change the tile scaling by a small amount? I've got a 1680x1050 monitor and when there's 10 medium sized tiles across the screen, it activates the scroll bar, but there's no need for the scroll bar as all the tiles fit on the screen fine and scrolling only shifts them by a few pixels.
How to change the number of rows and a scaling tool that didn't work.
I want got a Asus ux31 touch in black, and simply love it. There is one thing though, I am to be able to disable the touchscreen because I have heard that there is a very large increase in battery life when you do that. I am just wondering because I went to control panel-hardware and printing devices-pen and touch but there is not option to disable the touchscreen. Is there any program that will do this for you because I heard you can increase the battery life by one hour by doing this.
I currently own an ASUS laptop. I wanted to know if it's possible to disable the bottom portion of the touchpad (the click/right-click only). The touchpad is pretty hard to function at the moment.
I have been using Windows 8. Very often when I am on the internet or on the desktop screen and I move my finger on the mouse pad, the Start screen automatically comes on. This happens when I move my finger on the mouse pad and the screen automatically goes to the Start screen. Something that would prevent the computer screen moving to the Start screen even when I do not want that screen.
I have a Dell Inspiron 15z Ultrabook which has a Synaptics Touchpad, and after Windows 8.1 Upgrade, I lost the two finger tap right click feature, which worked fine previously. There is no option for it in the Dell Touchpad Settings, and after a Registry edit (Synaptics Clickpad - Right Click not working after windows 8... - HP Support Forum - 3053281) and Synaptics driver update, I got the feature back, except this time, when I tap with two fingers, it clicks both left and right, instead of only right (all other touchpad gestures work perfectly). I also tried the Two Fingers Scroll app, but did not like it.
I bought the new HP DV6 laptop with windows 8. How can I reverse the mouse scrolling with 2 fingers? because I use Mac and I got used to scroll in the inverse way of this HP.
Every 20 or so minutes I have to keep going into my mouse settings to change the Verticle Scroll speed back up to 4, up from the default 1. This problem has been occurring since I got this laptop in november last year, and I've been up for 2 and a half hours trying to finally fix this tedious problem, I'm starting to lose hope and it's getting to the point where it makes me not want to even get on the computer. My Dell Touchpad program that came with the computer is always turned off when the mouse is plugged in, so that can't be why.
There are two ways for me to change the scroll speed, by going into the Windows 8 PC Settings>PC & Devices>Mouse & Touchpad, and the mouse properties that are in the control panel. When I change the Mouse & Touchpad settings they change the settings in the mouse properties but not vice-versa.
There is no KH-whatever file in my startup list.
Synaptics drivers for touchpad are up to date, as is the mouse driver.
My mouse is a Engage Optical Mouse, I've had it for about 2 years and I never had a problem with it on my last computer. My current laptop is a Dell Inspiron M531R-5535.
Just acquired my first win 8 laptop. I had a loaner win 8 and hated everything between the computer and OS. I really like this Lenovo but im still having issues with win 8. Mainly this computer and the rental one seems very bogged down. Everything from social media or streaming etc even scrolling down this forum page has such a Lag or delay. Is this typical for win 8, can i do anything about this?
the lag is a delay. everytime I would scroll down a page it would have a delay, or if i stream a video (I use chromecast) it is delayed and choppy. My Win 7 Laptop had zero issues like these.

Text "Red Shift" during vertical scrolling? I've noticed it with Firefox 27.0, Pale Moon 24,3,2, and Operax64 12.14. The text on forums looks normal until I move the vertical scrollbar with the mouse. While the text is moving it takes on a red tint. As soon as the scrolling stops, it reverts to normal color. Pretty weird. Only thing I did lately was use a program to calibrate the Gamma.
I want to know how to get smooth scrolling in metro app with mouse wheel. I'hv seen some videos of windows 8 it has really smooth - fluid scrolling with touch. I have smooth scoll in start but not in metro apps.
I am totally unhappy about windows 8. Many good features from earlier windows are missing such as -
1) You can not pin "Calculator" to the task bar. In earlier versions you could open the calculator, over other windows. 2) While scrolling to folders / files in Explorer or any software, the screen jumps abruptly to up or down. 3) While transferring Images from camera. You can not select part images for transfer along with renaming. This feature was available in Windows XP.
I recently upgraded my Samsung Series 7 Ultra to the Windows 8.1 preview to check out it's new offerings. It's ok I suppose. Some positives and some negatives. Anyway on to my point:
So with the update came some unwanted changes. It seems to have disabled most of my func keys on the top row of my keyboard. Also, it now no longer saves my touchpad settings. They are reset to default everytime the system is rebooted.
I'm guessing this has to do with the Samsung software that controls these features not yet upated or ready to run on 8.1.
I have a Samsung Series 5 Ultra Touch. The other day, for reasons unknown, it would start up into the auto repair process. It would "diagnose PC" then "repairing", warning that might take a long time. Well after 24 hours I figured this was a dead end.
I have been through a crazy number of troubleshooting steps --couldn't get into any F8 or Shift=F8 action --Samsung's Restore mode crashed (F4) --Made a recovery USB and figured out the magical BIOS steps that would actually allow me to use it after much trial and error)
The recovery process has yielded no joy. --System Restore crashed --Automatic Repair was never ending --System Refresh said the drive was locked
So I started using DOS commands. Chkdsk seems to be taking forever to accomplish very little. See the screenshot:
I have a Samsung NP9000 model NP900X4C-A05AU. It regularly crashes due to full memory. It has 8G of RAM, running Windows 8.1. It's done this since day 1 - I managed to remove some Samsung bloatware that mitigated the problem somewhat, i.e. from once a day to three times a week. Mostly, just before it happens I get the "close some programs or lose some data" message, and I can possibly kill something (chrome usually) to free some memory so I can reboot cleanly. Usually at this point, the "Modified" section of the Task Manager Memory usage tab is quite big. Reboot and it's good for another couple of days.
Sometimes the "close some programs" message is too late... I get the message and almost immediately Windows crashes and reboots. Up until last week, this didn't cause any issues after the reboot. But last week, it did this, gave me the message and immediately crashed. It took about 1 hour for it to reboot, sitting at the "please wait" dots. I was in the process of making a recovery USB to boot from when it finally came to life. Everything seemed ok, was able to start things up, and carried on as usual. Couple of days later, get the "close some programs" message, and am able to reboot. But the laptop takes 5 to 10 minutes to reboot. Up until I had this issue, a reboot would take 5 to 10 seconds (to get to the login prompt). Even a reboot after just rebooting takes 5 to 10 minutes. I've run scans on my SSD, it says everything is ok. Every reboot now takes 5 to 10 minutes.
I got my scrolling wheel inverted due to powershell command i tried to check how it feels in the inverted way. but now i'm not feeling good and i want to go back to my normal scrolling. if i scroll down it should go down and up for up vice versa.
I'm in program trying to remove the canon MP495 series MP Driver and it will not remove. A window says that the printer is in use by someone. The printer in question is completely turned off. I've shut the computer off and restarted it and it is still there. What now? I was trying to remove a virus and it had programs running to close them first. This is why I had to run recovery to clear it.
I've only recently noticed this, but the brightness on my Vaio is stuck.
FN+F5/6 does nothing at all.
Changing the slider on both Win+C - Settings - Brightness and also through the Control Panel display options both do nothing either. How to get around this?
So I downloaded the ISO and burned it via unetbootin. I go into bios and change the following settings: disable fast boot, and make the OS selection CMS make USB boot first Then when i boot, it just boots back to windows 8. I also noticed that once I reboot back into bios, the USB is not set to first boot as I set it initially.
By the way I have a Samsung Series 7 Chronos with nividia graphics.
I just wanted to know if it was possible to use Intel Mobile 4 Series Express Chipset drivers with Windows 8. I've read that you could use the drivers for Windows 7 in Windows 8, but I haven't really proven that to be true.
I keep getting this error:
but I really don't get why I'm getting that message - it's giving me this message like I'm trying to run the software on a computer from the '90s. It really doesn't make sense to me since just about all other software can run on newer operating systems.
All I want to know is if it's possible to install these drivers on my computer, and if not, if there's a patch or a substitute.
I am using Windows 8 software and want to be able to play a series of videos in a folder consecutively, so they start automatically one after the other. However I have not seen this capability in the standard Windows 8 or Office software.
I have a HP laptop, which I just recently run system recovery on. I had a pixma MP495 series print installed wireless and it was working fine. (wireless) I believe that I had used the compatibility wizard to install it as windows 7. My OS is windows 8.1. When attempting to run setup, I get a window that my computer has a newer version of MP driver in it so it will skip the installation of the driver. It runs the rest of the setup and gets to detecting the printer. I have the USB cable hooked to the computer also. It searchs both wireless and through the USB connection and can not find the printer.
