when I edit a text in Windows 7 .txt format, is there a hidden header that registers other info like the name of the computer, date, etc? If yes, how can I see it?

From Options - Display, I chose show hidden text and it was "Top of Form" at the top of the page. But I got curious about this and made some search and I realized that you can hide text in a txt file with a stream method and also there can be hidden streams in processes also.How can I find out if a doc(x) file has no streams in it. I mean the hidden text may be seen by the method of Options - Display; but can someone hide something with a password in a doc(x) file? If yes, how can I find this out?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just updated my windows. Unfortunately, when I did that, something strange happened. Now I cannot right click or delete icons on my desktop. When I right click on an icon on the desktop, I have less choices than normal (cannot rename, deletesee properties, ect). I cannot see anything in my control panel, my computer folder shows up, however there are no words, just pictures.

And if I try to just save it with the same name it won't overwrite the original. I just want to "save" and have it save the edit and close.

This has been baffling me for at least a month now, my PC will randomly start to slow down after a few hours (2-4) of being used. This began to happen randomly and after no new software or updates where installed.So far I have tried to take off all my overclocks, run a CPU test for 24hours (stable) and all the defrags and disk cleanups that I could be bothered to run. Worst thing is this started happening a day before I was going to make a restore point.All my system info is on my profile.
EDIT: I forgot to mention where the slowdowns occur, they include programs taking a good 5 seconds to open and more confusingly sites take a good 30-40 seconds to load when shortly after boot it takes less than a second.I have checked my network usage and system resource usage and both are within their normal ranges.
My computer all of a sudden isn't displaying the info on drop down boxes, Such as dates for ordering on line for credit card info or sizes, etc. I don't know how to fix this. I can't see the Category choices in the box below this dialog box.I don't have the money to call Microsoft.

dealing with this caused a question in my mind:
I have the bad drive [PATA notebook drive -seagate momentus] attached to a usb bridge device that I use for all such issues. in this case, when I do a fresh start, with the external bridge powered up before cold boot, once 7 Ultimate gets coherent I run disk Management - the scan will popup the box saying "this disk needs to be initialized" and I give it the go - it gives "device not ready".that does not surprise me since the drive seems to only spin [motor runs] sporadically.
What I'd like to know is: what is the applet "seeing" - what is it in disk management that recognizes there is something akin to a Disk out there on one of the device ports?the followon question would then be: what low-level tool can I use that can attempt communication with the drive's firmware to try to get a spinup command or something to give me a chance???
I have seen an old macintosh drive - WD if I recall - that was in similar state. sometimes I could get a read via the usb bridge, but no data. finally after days of trying I gradually was able to start reading - it would spin very slowly and erratically, taking literally days to complete the forensic tool's scan....

Basically, whenever I play games the letter keys registers as numbers. For example, if I keep pressing Q, it would register as 1, then 2, then 3, all the way back to 0 and then to 1 again. I don't know what causes this problem.
The way I figured this out is when I am trying to do hotkeys it would do that. So basically I can't play any games because it does this.
This isn't a numlock problem or a keyboard region problem, by the way.
but i had a desktop windows 7 with some hidden files.I was getting a new laptop (macbook, to dualboot mac osx/windows 7)I got an external HDD and copied my old windows 7 files that i needed.Transfered them onto my macbook.All of my files i can access besides the ones that were "Hidden" on my old desktop.(Windows 7 desktop)I was just curious how i can have access to these files.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe problem I am having is that whenever I log onto my computer, I can see that the date and time at the bottom right of the screen always seems to reset to 31/12/2006. I always try to fix this by going to the option where you can synchronise the date and time with the Windows server time, however, this doesn't always seem to work.Another problem I am encountering is that the computer itself seems to be cutting out at different times, for example I could be 98% complete into a full system scan with Kaspersky 2012, but the computer suddenly cuts out, this would also be the case when browsing the internet or completing some Word documents. One other thing to mention as well is that since these problems have occurred, whenever I turn on my computer, I never have to press the power button on, as it seems to turn itself on whenever I switch the power supply on. This is also not normal.

Files such as bootmgr and ntldr are shown and I can't hide them. Also, show Protected System files is unchecked and show hidden files is also unchecked so they shouldn't be showing. I tried to re-add their system file attribute but I keep getting an "Access Denied" error in CMD and I do not have user account control on and I'm on a Default Administrator Account.

View 4 Replies View RelatedOk this is wierd I have a client using Office 2007 pro and some of her docs that she recently updated and the problem is when she prints the docs text that she deleted is printing over the top of new text she inserted into the doc.
Now when you have said doc open in WORD the deleted text is not there in any view and does NOT show in "print preview".
I opened said doc with WORDPAD and the deleted text shows up at the bottom so its still in the word doc somewhere imbedded so it prints over the top of the actual text in the doc.
Something happened to my computer, all my text became Italicized, tried the registry value fixed, but all that happened is change that fonts to sans serif or something similar, some texts are still italicized, and I cant use/see the arial font anymore.

If you do a search in Windows XP, you get a bunch of fields. You can pick to search for text INSIDE the particular sub folder structure.
I have found this feature in Windows 7, but it is different. I have tried using wild cards but it does not seem to work properly.
How do I insert my pictures inside the text or beside the text so it won't use so much space?
